On the Bloggin Road with the "Forums with Huizzy Tour"

Damn Candidate Forums! Why do I need take credit for others, errrr, highlight my record as City Couincilman?

Great chillin evening from the northern edge of CD 14 as we start our bloggin "Forum with Huizzy Tour".

Our first stop is the Highland Park Senior Center where Councilman Huizar (at 6:58PM) just walked into his planned evening 30 minute presentation/Q and A with the Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council. Two weeks earlier, the same format was accorded to Rudy Martinez.

Upon completion of his presentation and Q and A, Councilman Huizar will make his way to the El Sereno Senior Center where the LA 32 Neighborhood Council and Rudy Martinez are waiting for the councilman's arrival to conduct the candidate forum sponser by the LA 32 NC and The Voice Newspaper. BTW, the councilman was gracious to give his favorite blogger a friendly greeting with pat on the back as he inquire about my work status.

Huizar must hit the road by 7:30PM to make El Sereno

** Evening Update: The El Sereno Senior Center became wi-fi dead zone. will post update in the AM.

We will live blog notes from our travels as the night progresses.

7:10PM  Al Strange of the Northeast Democrats questions Huizar about the Bridewell Armory (Stay away from Legacy LA but Huizzy just mentioned their "fine work" GET THE SHOVEL!)

Huizar only answering questions due to time constraints, no follow-up questioning allowed.

Summer Night Lights oh my!

7:20PM Softballs galore but what happen to your scheduled open houses?

Brings up Joe Carmona's gang program.

What will you do about LAFD Brownouts? (Use CLARTS Fund to offset closures but council staff salaries are paramount).

El Sereno and Eagle Rock get services but Highland Park neglected.

** Time for Red Spot to ride.

Watch out Huizar, this Rudy guy has Pacheco in his corner.

Some of us remember Pacheco playing games in the past with automated calling... what was it "Groria Marino?"

Will some guy named "Terry Brown" be "endorsing" Rudy via robo-call, soon?

Maybe Sheriff Dee Vaca?

(Remember how much Baca LOVED one of your other dirty tricks by proxy, Lauro??)

Tonight's candidates forum at El Sereno Senior Center was flowered with Huizar's lies and stupidity...

What do you plan to do about the regulation of ETOH in CD14?
Give me a fucken break Huizar! LAPD cannot stand your backward politics and even opposed your support of more liquor licenses in CD14. Especially Boyle Heights.

First and foremost Huizar you did NOT mention once tonight at the candidates forum the FACT the STATE of CA needs to be involved in preventing the increase of ETOH licenses in CD14. Have your ever heard of ABC? I am not talking about the television syndicate or Michael Jackson's song.

FIRST OF ALL, there WERE cops at both the Hermon and Glassell Park forums, for sure... MORE than 3 at Glassell. (And, there, Rudy tried to use them as a prop, and the Northeast cops who know him best just ignored him).

(Hell, if I was speaking in El Sereno surrounded by rabble like Rid Sput -- and his "BOMB HUIZAR" graphics in the wake of Tucson -- I'd want cops there, too.)

AND, they told me they were already at another neighborhood watch meeting 2-3 miles away last night, so it's not like he called them in off other patrol duties!

So you see, you're WRONG in every which a way.

They also have some personal interest in this. Most cops would rather not see someone as disrespectful of their authority as the investigation-dodging Rudy Martinez in that position of leadership.

He gave up any right to be respected by the police, when he basically FLED the scene of a crime by resigning from his volunteer post to avoid having to answer questions about the "magic" badge.

Nothing left but telling lies about each other, door-to-door, a few hundred doors a day (how are the last 35 precincts coming Rudy?)

No heavy punches in public; no thunder bolts from the sky telling people "this one is best!"

Alllllll elements that favor an incumbent. ANY incumbent.

Rudy Rich, for one, is apparently REAL good at talking smack about the other guy to the media and in slicks that someone else creates for him - but when actually face-to-face, he's meek, uninformed, and generally speaking (a little "

Huizar (and Skelton) are now pissing down the leg of the Glendale Republican, where the rubber meets the road (the road BACK to Rudy's REAL home in that other city...)

One of their latest mailers identified Rudy Rich for EXACTLY what he is - a carpetbagging opportunistic party-switcher (you WON'T get this one in the mail, Rid Sput).

It goes "something" like this:

JOSE HUIZAR
Our Democrat for City Council

Only one candidate for City Council is endorsed by the Democratic Party—José Huizar.

José Huizar has dedicated his life to fighting for Democratic values—better schools, good paying jobs and protecting the environment.

José Huizar can be trusted to stand up for us.

JOSE HUIZAR is endorsed by:
California Democratic Party
Los Angeles County Democratic Party
Northeast Democratic Club
Stonewall Democratic Club
Los Angeles County Federation of Labor (AFL-CIO)
United Firefighters of Los Angeles City

RUDY MARTINEZ?
Former Republican who just moved into our community from Glendale.

RUDY MARTINEZ. Not what he claims to be.

Rudy Martinez is a real estate speculator who made a fortune “flipping” foreclosed houses. Before that, he was a spokesperson for the tobacco industry.

Martinez was registered to vote as a Republican.

In August 2010 he moved from Glendale to our community to run for City Council. When he did, he changed his registration to Democrat. Why? Because he knows a Republican can not win election in our district.

(PRETTY WELL SUMS UP what some of us have been saying, for months here...)

And what's best about it - it's TRUE.

(Rudy Rich, in a feeble attempt to lie his way out of it, mails a letter to Mt. Washington voters that starts off with:

Real answers and real solutions for Mt Washington

Rudy is a Democrat.

- THAT'S IT, just... "is a Democrat" (because he JUST registered as one.

No further explanation, no details, nada.

BUH Bye Rudy Rich. Run for Glendale City Council, will ya?

So, while Rudy Rich is spasming from "exertion" (from walking around talking to voters), Huizar rushes up from council meeting where he's fighting Bitter Bernie over transit funds, to cut a ribbon on a "bike corrall" that's LESS THAN A BLOCK AWAY from Rudy's saloon. (If you fail to recognize "Marty's" it's the bland looking structure where the street tree was RIPPED OUT, and Rudy had the well cemented over.

Probably so he wouldn't have to PAY anyone to sweep the leaves up.

It's not logical to expect any change with the same people in office. Antonio was re-elected and immediately left the country for South Africa after making more promises at his inauguration.

That leadership is what's directly connected to City Council and to Jose Huizar.

You never hear Huizar speak against the Mayor, and that's not because Villaraigosa is doing any great job.

New direction will not happen with the incumbents and that includes Mr. Huizar.

I don't to come across seeming callous, but come on. This definitely comes across as some sort of political stunt. Martinez' consultants are clawing away for any last bit of media coverage they can grasp onto. I see it one of three ways:

1. Martinez did that poorly at the forum that he needs to find an out.

2. His camp has now reached the point of desperation.

3. Martinez did in fact collapse from over-exhaustion. In any case, that is definitely NOT a good sign. The job of a City Council Member (congressional folks and state officials spend most of their time traveling)is a nearly 12-15 hour per day job at a minimum. Rarely do they get holidays to themselves or for family.

Being a good Christian that I am, though--I hope it is not serious and may he recover quickly.

Being the realist that I am, though--please don't use the public's sentiment for your political gain (goes the same for your opponent). March 9 will be interesting (yes, I meant to say March 9).

(Don'tcha love it when people start a sentence with "THE FACT REMAINS..." immediately followed by several sentences that are nothing by their own opinion...)

Like:

"The fact remains that the same people in office that brought the city to financial chaos have no ability to change and the city will keep sliding down."

You're entitled to your OPINION, but you're not entitled to lie or completely oversimplify a very complex situation and call it a FACT.

The City's financial situation is related to a huge number of factors, many of which were and still completely are outside the control of anyone in elected office in L.A.

(You may have read in newspaper somewhere that the WHOLE COUNTRY is in a recession - have you heard that?)

Which part of "driving the U.S. into a recession" is the fault of the current council members of the City of Los Angeles? How many of them are fortune tellers that should have known what no other elected official in the state or D.C. knew either?

Could we have avoided taking part in a nationwide recession, say if -oh maybe "15 high school educated self-enriching RUDY MARTINEZ's" were in office?

Let me play the game YOUR way, and see how you like it...

THE FACT IS... Rudy Martinez wouldn't even be running for City Council if the U.S. hadn't slid into a recession and the housing market he was miling for every penny hadn't flaked like yesterday's croissants in a windstorm. Instead, he had to stop making money hand over fist (by flipping houses others had taken away from them), or else he'd STILL be going into a fake "crisis" mode every week on reality TV (to RAISE the drama level). Hmmm, why does THAT sound familiar.

If there was NO recession, Rudy would STILL be living in Glendale, STILL be flipping poor destitute saps' houses and STILL be getting richer every day. He'd also STILL be a registered REPUBLICAN. He'd STILL have no interest in CD14. STILL would have never attended a single community meeting anywhere on the Eastside, and he'd STILL be trying to fool City building inspectors into not citing his unpermitted and dangerous slap-dash renovations -- because THATs how rich house-flippers get RICHER.

and...

THE FACT IS, while in office and a part of the City's budget committee Huizar has SAVED the city from making a number of much more disastrous financial decisions and service cuts, just by being one of the smarter cats in City Council. All anyone has to do is listen to that committee ONE time, and you immediately realize, Huizar is one of maybe ONLY two of it's 5 members that can even READ the damn balance sheets. The others lay back, wait for somelike Huizar to EXPLAIN to them what the city department spokesperson actually means in LAY terms, and then they thump their chests and pretend they got it all along.

Many of the very same services Huizar's managed to stretch out and preserve would have been on a RUDY chopping block, faster than he could say - "forget securing the foundation on this flipped foreclosure, no one will ever see it, and I can make an extra $30,000that way" and be long gone before it slides into the street. At City Hall - like at nearly every community forum - he'd be saying, "WELL, people you just need to VOLUNTEER more and we need to get business to donate MORE surplus materials, so the City doesn't have to buy them."

That's what THE FACT IS.

Your not being callous, (it was a MUSCLE SPASM... geez!), to read the victocrat headlines, you'd think he passed out and had to be rescusitated. He went down on his knees and they rushed him to Huntington, and let him out of the hospital 8 hours later and said take a couple days off.

(And if he was at Huntington for 8 hours, that means he was in the waiting room for 3).

Heck, bad fish can do that to you, especially if it's uncooked...

You KNOW if they see a rich guy coming who probably has better health insurance than most of us, they'd say "we're keeping you here for 5 days at $20,000 a day" - to run tests.

NAH, sometimes you can just TELL who the drama queens are... the ones who RUN to the police and file a formal report and go one TV... saying they FEAR FOR THEIR LIVES, because some sap consultant on the other side uses the words "POLITICAL bullet" in an e-mail you weren't even supposed to SEE!

Drama Queen (DQ) - 10X. They ought to name an ice cream dish after him at DAIRY QUEEN, maybe call it the the "RUDY RICH and FLAKY!"

Listening is a ponzie scheme; Antonio "listened" for two years and did nothing, or said "I tried" - City laws won't allow it.

Give me something BETTER to choose from, how about?

The bashing starting with Rudy Rich, because he had NOTHING impressive to say about himself.

That's what happens when you carpetbag in where you don't belong. After a few weeks, your trite bumper-sticker "I'll fix everything" answers just don't work anymore, and people who live here start to ask deeper questions, and then you have to WORK HARDER at fooling them.

The real question is, will the last 6 months of Rudy Rich pretending he's a CD14 Democrat when he's really a Glendale Republican whocarpetbagged in overrule Huizar's 6 years of service to the district.

The answer is, emphatically: NO

Funny thing about Huizar "peers" if they really believe that (and the Westside WEAKLY quotes no one, by the way), but of the 14 of them, NONE gets to vote here on March 8.

Zero. And frankly what some other districts' elected officials think about a CD14 councilmember means SQUAT here (in 2003, MOST sitting councilmembers endorsed PACHECO. Did he win? Hell, no!). If they believe that, it's not like they're running around town telling people. Keep dredging up the archives of old news clippinga - it proves nothing, and has no effect on the outcome.

Who does get to vote and influence the others in CD14 are the HUNDREDS of local community leaders who've endorsed Huizar - more than during either of his first two elections, and including many who endorsed Nick Pacheco against Huizar 6 years ago. They vote, they influence, and Rudy Rich came after many of them and convinced almost NONE that he'd be a better choice for the next four year.

BUH Bye, Rudy. Don't let the blue L.A. City limits signs hit you in the ass on your way back home to Glendale. If they do, maybe you can sue the city for "threatening" your life.

The funny thing about reputations (the same with political ones) is that perception overrides facts.

That's why you keep calling Martinez "Rudy rich" and "grave digger."

In short you shouldn't criticize anyone for doing what you do, promote perception over fact.

For example, my perception of you is that of a scorned lover getting back at Martinez and your factual retorts won't change that perception.

So keep blogging away and it still won't change Huizar's reputation of being lazy.
