Los Angeles Politics Hotsheet for Tuesday
Governor Jerry Brown wants to shut down the Community Redevelopment Agency. CRA officials and developers aren't so happy about this. The Governor made his pitch to a meeting of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. Though why Brown thinks the leaders of the Chamber are Republicans. Some are in the GOP fold but most, similar to politicians such as Mike Gatto and Lloyd Levine, made the business decision to be Democrats some time ago.
Not sure what PETA would think of this but the City of Los Angeles is looking to hire a few good beaver trappers. No, not in Los Feliz or Woodland Hills, but at DWP facilities in the Owens Valley. I thought the City already had a beaver trapper?

The Pot Heads PAC is pulling for Rudy Martinez (or really, just AGAINST Huizar, who helped shut down their every-other-corner, break-a-fingernail/get-pot dispenaries in CD14-north.

DAMN, it's like you don't have a choice anymore... you HAVE to vote for Huizar again, just to keep the inmates from running the asylum.
Will the "message" parlor PAC now counteract the dispensaries endorsement of Rudy, with one o their own?
Since Rudy wants to shut down the "spas" in Eagle Rock (to make more room to pot palaces, or... maybe even OPIUM dens? ...for fatser relief from "pain") will the nimble-fingered hostesses now JUMP to the defense of Jose Huizar?
Nah, probably not, but it was a fun mental image for awhile there.

Perhaps the BIGGEST shocker in CD 14 this week...
Tony Butka of the nearly decertified Glassel Park Neighborhood council fame, the wannabe candidate who couldn't somehow manage to collect a few hundred signatures in the district to get himself on the ballot to run against Huizar, (but who has for some odd reason since been able to pass himself off to the totally blind as a "neutral" observer), is endorsing....
(wait for it, it's a HUGE surprise...)
YES, the Glendale Republican carpetbagger who evades police inquiries.
And in his TOTALLY unexpected endorsement, Butka bashes Huizar for mailing a slick about Rudy's badge (read: "character") issue shortly after the "peace accord" forum in Eagle Rock, but fails to mention that in practically the same day's mail, Rudy puts one out saying Huizar "does not believe" in such sacred American ideals as "all men are created equal" - that governments derive "their just powers from the consent of the governed..." etc.
(PRETTY FUNNY, when you consider that of the three - Jose, Rudy, & Tony, ONLY Huizar has ever received "the consent of the governed" and won political office.)
Apparently Butka stopped off at one of the those ER "dispensaries" on his way back from the forum.
Tony, may you and Bradley B. Bradley enjoy long lives together locked in mortal combat over control of an NC no one in Glassell even know exists (intentionally).
As far as your endorsement... Im sure it'll matter to the (what?) 47 people that elected you to your NC board.

The number of retirees earning $100,000 or more from the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) has increased dramatically since 2009.
Guess how many CalSTRS pensioners are earning between $75,000 and $99,999.99?

Combined you’re looking at 24,811 retired California teachers earning more than $75,000. That’s more than the entire population of Studio City.
There are many former Los Angeles Unified School District employees earning $100K or more. Edward Hernandez, Jr., formerly of the Rancho Santiago Community College District, who is earning $286,000 annually.
This is why we must shut down UTLA and LAUSD.
