Perhaps this tragedy will temper the dangerous language of Palin, Beck, Limbaugh, and others on the incendiary right.
Sounds like Loughner is a HIPPIE! A disgruntled citizen against present government. A deranged man sick of current leadership and economic woes.
"The suspect Loughner was described by a former classmate as a pot-smoking loner, and the Army said he tried to enlist in December 2008 but was rejected for reasons not disclosed."
Why do liberals insist on violating freedom of speech? I thought I could say anything because it is my RIGHT TO DO SO. I don't live in a communist country. But then again, Los Angeles is a mini commie country in itself.
Loughner was a devoted follower of Ayn Rand. He was a right wing wack job with a gun and on a mission to destroy.
This is the same crap act the left put on on November 22, 1963 when they insisted JFK was murdered as a result of the "climate of hate" in the nation (translation the Right) while ignoring to their best effort the fanatical devotion of Lee Harvey Oswald to Marxist ideology. When I look back at the JFK coverage in my personal archive I want to gag every time someone talked about how this act by someone who had been a traitor to this country somehow said something bad about America. They pulled this same con game again in 1968 by ignoring Sirhan Sirhan's background and motives in killing RFK and now here they are again.
And it will be noted that on the day Ronald Reagan was shot did ANYONE in the conservative movement dare to accuse the Left of being responsible before the facts came in about John Hinckley and his perverted Jodie Foster obsession? Nope, not a one. Which should say plenty.
While Congresswoman Giffords is, thankfully, expected to recover, Justice Roll has been killed. While Giffords wounds are tragic, Roll's death is more so. Roll was a relatively conservative justice appointed by Bush 41. This assassin appears not to have been driven by any normal "right" or "left" wing American (Dem v. Rep) ideology as much as by madness and narcissism. Both the Dems (Giffords) and Repubs (Roll) were targets and victims today. Pointing fingers at anyone other than the actual perp is futile and counter-productive.

The point is that the media does not want these inconvenient details known and wants to make this guy to be associated with the Tea Party when nothing could be further from the truth. I would like to add what the Sheriff said tonight was completely out of line, maybe the note the guy left had everything to do with bigotry. This was not the place or time to announce that he hates free speech. Anybody who says that "maybe we have free speech in this country" is not a friend of actual true free speech. This guy was insane, I don't think that vitriol by "certain people" was the cause of this attack, and he should be ashamed for inferring that it was.

Someone made a very salient point yesterday and I agree: it would not at all surprise me to find that in a future violent incident that we hear that the gunmen could EASILY be Phil Jennerjahn.
Whenever there is someon elike a Sarah Jane Moore, Kathleen Soliah, and Squeaky Fromme, it's always a disgruntled white person who is angry at the government.
Ring a bell? Phil Jennerjahn.
I sure hope it won't come to that, but do not be surprised if you hear that a future disgruntled white gunman is named Phil Jennerjahn, and the major media outlets will come to Mayor Sam to read this maniac's anti-government, anti-Obama stance.
They'll say, "Jennerjahn, a drop-out, could only find employment as a tour guide and birthday party clown who battled a gambling addiction."

I'm coming a little late to this discussion, but This Week w/Amanpour DID show Sarah Palin's "crosshairs" from her website.
I didn't know that was real, but they showed it.
I have no doubt that this type of violence is due to the illegal immigration issue that has fouled Arizona far worse than virtually all other states, even California.
And if you think about it, a "lone wolf" young white male who couldn't get a job, and lived with his parents, could easily blame things on a Democrat and go postal.
Speaking of disgruntled white males, there's a middle-aged one named Phil who really concerns me. All the other factors, such as a gambling addiction, a craving for infamy, and being unable to make a steady income, all boil down to someone being a tinderbox for violence.

What is the best way to alert city hall about any concerns some of us may have about phil one day showing up there to possibly do the same?
I would not be as concerned about this if Phil didn't own guns. But he is a militant supporter of gun right and has mentioned numerous times that he is a gun owner.
Don't laugh. I think anyone who is on this blog on a regular basis knows that it's not out of the realm of possibility. I don't want LA City Hall to turn into the next Tucson, Arizona.

A gambling addiction such as the one that Phil Jennerjahn apparently has is enough to make someone go off the deepend, and here is why.
As an upper middle class, middle aged white man, Phil has a sense of entitlement, for things such as a cushy career, and easy money.
Well, it is well established that Phil is a college drop out, who loves to ACT like a lawyer, except he doesn't have the tenacity to become one. And accordingly, he wants to GAMBLE to get the "easy money" he feels is his birthright. And he was willing to do anything to get that easy money because he wasn't able to achieve the career status that he craved.
In total, I think the guy has all the same violent potential as the gunman Loughner. Phil likes Ayn Rand, just like Loughner. Phil is upset at the government, just like Loughner. Phil has gone on lengthy internet rants. JUST LIKE LOUGHNER.

I'm surprised "NOONE" on this blog mentioned that Rep. Giffords is Jewish, and that this is also probably an extra incentive for this violent act.
I think Phil is more of a humor act than anything, but I always sensed that there was something anti-Semitic about him. I cannot articulate why I think this, but it's just something I sensed seething under about Jennerjahn. Very sad guy.

Judging from the books he read, I'm guessing that he was reading books written by extremists on the right, the left, and even an extreme libertarian to find justification for using hate and violence to justify his own failures.
I'm willing to bet that he didn't know who the judge was or that he would be there. He probably didn't know a lot about the Congresswoman, but he knew that a representative in government would be there and it was an opportunity for him to lash out.
My concern is that people like Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin can easily push a person like this over the edge. Both talk in shrill tones about the evils of Obama, health care, and other political decisions they don't like. Certainly they do this to gain political advantage for the Republican Party and personal gain for themselves, but they need understand the the power that their words carry and who hears them.
That's especially true of Palin who goes out of her way to associate herself with guns and using them to kill living things.

Has it occurred to any of you that the majority of these posts do precisely what Phil wants you to do - talk about him. Good or bad, Phil needs to be the focus of attention. For him the most negative comment makes him seem relevant and It wouldn't surprise me if Phil is the author of the most damning anonymous comments here.
So instead of focusing on this tragedy and its consequences, we're all pandering to Phil's needy ego. Don't ban him, don't delete any comments that refer to him, just do the one thing he hates more than anything else - ignore him.
That's enough of Phil. What really has me worried about the whole Gabby Giffords' tragedy, is the way it will be used to take away more of our freedoms. It's 9/11 all over again.

Top US Federal Judge Assassinated After Threat To Obama Agenda

A Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) report circulating in the Kremlin today states that the top US Federal Judge for the State of Arizona was assassinated barely 72-hours after he made a critical ruling against the Obama administrations plan to begin the confiscation of their citizen’s private retirement and banking accounts in order to stave off their nations imminent economic collapse, and after having the US Marshals protecting him removed.
According to this SVR report, Federal Judge John McCarthy Roll [photo 2nd left] was the Chief Judge for the United States District Court for the District of Arizona who this past Friday issued what is called a “preliminary ruling” in a case titled “United States of America v. $333,520.00 in United States Currency et al” [Case Number: 4:2010cv00703 Filed: November 30, 2010] wherein he stated he was preparing to rule against Obama’s power to seize American citizens money without clear and convincing evidence of a crime being committed.
The case being ruled on by Judge Roll, this report continues, was about bulk cash smuggling into or out of the United States that the Obama administration claimed was their right to seize under what are called Presidential Executive Orders, instead of using existing laws. The Obama administration used as support for their claim before Judge Roll, the SVR says, the seizing of all American citizens’ gold, in 1933, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s signing of Executive Order 6102, which was ruled at the time to be constitutional.
Should the Obama administration win their argument to seize their citizen’s money by Executive Order without having to abide by the law was made more chilling this past week when reports emerged from the US stating that President Obama and his regime allies were, indeed, preparing to rule America by decree since their loss this past November of their control over the US House of Representatives, and in the words of the Washington Posts columnist Charles Krauthammer: “For an Obama bureaucrat … the will of the Congress is a mere speed bump.”

Sorry, but 6:31/36 sounds like a grassy knoll/birther. If government has demonstrated anything, it's an utter inability to pull off the simplest of conspiracies, and suggesting that Judge Roll was "taken out" is fantasy.
Of course, it's the fantasy that has kept alive the assassination of JFK theories, and no doubt Big Hollywood already has a deluge of scripts to paw through based on Saturday's events.
But coming closer to home, just wait and see what happens when the CLowcil convenes. Carmen the Clown will do his rare appearance routine in the Chamber (you know, like the "criminal aspects" one) and announce that in future all 15 Clowns will get the same 24/7 LAPD security detail that he and the Mayor have. This will be a great burden on LAPD's overtime budget, so the Clown will propose an emergency ordinance to justify the cost of providing the necessary protection.
The result, the CLown sets himself up nicely for his DA campaign as a public safety minded official, the PPL love him because at least 45 more cops get to suck on the tit of overtime, and the Clown gets to find out who is going where, and what they're doing.
Gonna be hard for Perry and Parks to beat the Clown on this one. You heard it here first folk.

So, Giffords was shot from behind. If she was running away, then she was not the first target. If she had been the intended target, wouldn't Jared have approached her from the front, if for no other reason than to make sure he had the right woman in his sights? Or to let her know who the agent of her impending death was?
Was someone else shot before Giffords? Like the judge? And if so, is this the reason that the video we presume was being made of her public appearance not been made public?
GIFFORDS WAS TRYING TO LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE WHO SHE REPRESENTS THAT'S GOOD WE NEED MORE OF THAT. BUT HER VIEWS ARE FOR ILLEGAL CITIZENS GETTING SPECIAL TREATMENT AS WELL AS OUR NEW HEATHCARE THAT'S BAD. THE REAL SAD PART IS A 9 YEAR OLD GIRL WHO WAS INTERESTED IN MAKING A DIFFERANCE IN THE WORLD DIED. OUR LOCAL POLITIANS SHOULD BE WORRIED THEY ARE DRIVING PEOPLE TO COMMIT THESE ACTS.
