Los Angeles Politics Video Hotsheet for Wednesday

It's your lucky day! A Video Hotsheet! We know how much everyone loves these! No pesky links to contend with (ok, maybe a few), just hit play, sit back, and enjoy the ride!
We will return Thursday morning with that boring static Hotsheet that everyone complains about, but just can't seem to stop reading.

 Don't Vote. That'll show 'em;

Christine makes a funny;

Thanks to GPW for this one;

Oh, and no video yet, but it appears that the Koch Brothers are taking over the U.S.

Michael, I don't like Joe B's postings.

Freedom of speech and open debate forum and all that you provide is great.
But in moderation would be better.

He's like an old sex predator. He takes his Viagra and can't stop and there's no balance. Just partisan TP babble.

I couldn't agree more with 6:44pm.

Perhaps Joe can write an essay on why he thinks bloggers don't make predictions. I can't think of one, other than Joe, who doesn't.

Or Joe can write about why he only posts polls that confirm his beliefs, rather than accepting the callenge of polls and bad business information, like the unemployment rate, that go against his grain?

Something like that would actually be interesting. I guess the question is whether Joe is strong enough as a man to post things that are contrary to his own beliefs so that we can all discuss it.

It's very weenie not to. Higby does. Why not Joe B?

Curious why Joe B did not post about the story that is on the FRONT PAGE of most U.S. newspapers, including the NY Times and Wall Street Journal?

The one where Mrs. Clarence Thomas left a voicemail for Anita Hill, suggesting that she apologize for falsifying her sexual harrassment claim 19 years ago?

Further odd is that Anita Hill, who is now a law professor at Brandeis, drives a Jeep. Guess career success has eluded her. 20 years later and still a law professor? Hmmm. That's why lying about a Supreme Court Justice who has never had any sort of controversy elsewhere in his life, does for one's credibility.

Oddly, Joe isn't mentioning that LEAD story this morning.

Bravo to Kirk Gibson for auctioning off his 1988 World Series bat, batting helmet and jersey.

Communists think he should donate it to the Dodgers or the Hall of Fame.

BULLSHIT! I suppose Joe B., if he is a baseball fan, would demand that he donate it. No way. Free market baby. It's worth what people are willing to pay for it. At the end of Gibson's career, I didn't see the Dodgers "donating" money to Gibson, after he was no longer healthy enough to play.

Betcha that Gibson is a good, healthy, pro choice, pro gun Republican, and I love it! Bravo Kirk!

As for Anita Hill, there is NO DOUBT THAT SHE LIED in order to make herself into something puffy and bigger than she EARNED. Her claims were a black on black crime where Clarence Thomas, and plenty of other blacks were the victims. The PERP is Anita Hill. Fuck her.

Yeah, I know Hahn, Reyes and LaBonge are the Dimmest Three, but Cardenas gives all the others a run for their money.

The LOST Angeles Council, including former POLICE SERGEANT/CURRENT COUNCILMAN DENNIS ZINE, do not like when constituents notify the full council of their violations.

Last week, a constituent brought to the attention of the former POLICE SERGEANT/ CURRENT COUNCILMAN DENNIS ZINE that there was a LACK OF A QUORUM during their meeting. The FORMER POLICE SERGEANT/CURRENT COUNCILMAN DENNIS ZINE directed the clerk to call the roll, which he did. The clerk call out their names, but NO council member present or not present responded to his or her name as mandated by their own COUNCIL RULE, TEWNTY SIX.

Where was the LOST Angeles Deputy City Attorney Dion O'Connell, who needs to be reminded he is paid by the constituents of Los Angeles? Los Angeles City Attorney TRUtanich needs to continue to bring back integrity to the City Attorney’s Office by replacing O’Connell with a TRUE public servant to all.

Wednesday, October 20, 2010 a constituent brought Council Rules 26, 27, and 28 to the attention of the NEED TO SET PRECEDENT GARCETTI, and the NEED TO SET PRECEDENT GARCETTI said he would allow council members to go to the rest room. The NEED TO SET PRECEDENT GARCETTI should NOT change the rules as he goes along to benefit council. A suggestion for Council to amend Rule 30 to read as noted below.

COUNCIL RULES THAT DO NOT APPLY TO COUNCIL
*25. Ten members of the Council shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business, but
a smaller number may adjourn from time to time until a quorum is present and may compel
the attendance of the absentees. Except as otherwise required by the Charter or other law,
or by these Rules where not inconsistent therewith, action by the Council shall be taken by
a majority vote of the entire membership of the Council.

26. Whenever a member questions the presence of a quorum, the Presiding Officer shall direct
the Clerk to call the roll and announce the result. There shall be no debate. Every member
present must respond when his or her name is called.

27. No member shall be considered present unless the member is within the Council Chamber.

28. No member shall leave a Council meeting without permission from the Presiding Officer of
the meeting.

29. Upon a call of the Council, if supported by a majority of the members present, whether
quorum or not, the Presiding Officer shall have the power to send the Sergeant-at-Arms with
a written order to bring the absent Councilmember forthwith before the Council.

30. Not used.
Change to read Council, specifically Need to Set Council Precedent Garcetti, shall not change COUNCIL RULES on a daily basis to benefit their personal agenda or justify their violation(s) of their OWN COUNCIL RULES.

5:42... the Koch family started a small business that has become the second largest private company in America.
The Koch family has donated nearly $1B over the last 30 years to various health and education non-profit institutions.
The Koch family has employed hundreds of thousands of American employees since the inception of Koch industries.
David Koch, the one who draws the ire of liberals like Joe (who ignores Soros), is a libertarian who has for decades fought against government intrusion. He has gone up against republicans and democrats to fight for the freedom the constitution provides ALL of us. He's a small government billionaire who puts his money on the line for his beliefs. Much like George Soros does.
However, unlike Soros, the Koch family is not in the business of financial manipulation, currency manipulation and sovereign nation destruction to make money.

Trojan,
Just because a company gives money for education, etc, it doesn't make them heroes when they continue to profit off pollution and use their dollars to manipulate government. You sound like an idiot.

Anonymous trojan2002 said:

6:24, you missed everything else, huh?

You missed the fact that they became the 2nd largest private company after starting out as a small family company?

You missed the part where they have employed hundreds of thousands?

The part where David Koch has spent millions for decades on individual freedoms?

They are American Heroes because 1. they are American 2. They built their fortune through innovation 3. they started as a small family company and accomplished an American dream
4. they are philanthropic and give back to many causes in many ways.

Also, Koch is a very diverse company. The net income from petroleum based products is a piece of the pie, but it's not the only one, nor is it the biggest slice.

I'm sure you burn candles at night.

And if you're so concerned about pollution, how the heck are you using a computer? You know how much pollution was created just to get you that computer?

You are indeed an idiot Trojan2002;

“In a study released this spring, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst’s Political Economy Research Institute named Koch Industries one of the top ten air polluters in the United States. And Greenpeace issued a report identifying the company as a “kingpin of climate science denial.” The report showed that, from 2005 to 2008, the Kochs vastly out did Exxon-Mobil in giving money to organizations fighting legislation related to climate change, underwriting a huge network of foundations, think tanks, and political front groups.”

6:49... thanks for calling me an idiot.
You realize I didn't say they don't pollute, I know they do, they are the SECOND largest private company. That means they will of course be giving off pollutants when they are in the manufacturing and energy industries.

But again, if you are so concerned about pollution, why are you using a computer?

And buddy, global warming is a SCAM.
