Los Angeles Politics Hotsheet for Tuesday

Thanks to the Supreme Court, Democracy is now officially dead. From here on out, it's just a cash fueled corporate cockfight. Thanks for playing!

-Meanwhile, back at the ranch; Prop 22 would stop the state from raiding county and city coffers when their funds run low.  Political activist Sheriff Lee Baca supports 22 and explains why.

-Cockfighting ain't cheap, so who can blame BofA for firing up the foreclosure machine in 23 states starting next week after an all too brief 24 day freeze.  BofA will be asking judges for permission to seize 102,000 properties beginning Oct 25th.

-Citing possible legal ramifications (no pun intended), the LA City Council is refusing to stop FilmLA from issuing permits for porn shoots in LA. The AIDS Healthcare Foundation has been demanding a shutdown of adult film production since an adult performer was discovered to be HIV positive last week.

Have I left anything out? I'm sure you'll let me know.

Joe B-

The market is down 140 points in the first half hour today!

WSJ says current market downtrend is due to business not knowing what the Obama tax forecast is going to be.

Zero chance that Obama is going to get Wall Street support in 2012.

Are you saying that people who haven't been making their payments should be allowed to keep their homes?

Leave it to City Hall to think that its fortunes rise and fall on the d***ks and P***ies of the porn industry. I guess it takes one, to know one.

Will one of your crack investigators (pun intended) please look into what happened with AB 2414?

While everyone was jibber jabbering over the budget flimflam, "exchange wagering" was slapped onto the bill. With no committee review. At the last minute. Nobody seemed to care.

And, presto change-o, the "Bookie Amendment" legalized betting on losing horses in California.

We're the first state in the US to do this. The wise guys in NJ are trying to do it now, too, so gambling addicts and goombahs can bet on races that are far more easily fixed.

Wanna bet on a horse -- to lose?

Thanks to our Speaker of the Assembly, the Governor, and his slimy new Horse Racing Board, you can do just that.

Here's an overlooked article from the runup to the actual signing:

Touts, cons and goodfellas everywhere, rejoice!

Yes, you left out that the unemployment rate is now over 10%.

In California, it's 12%.

These figures came out today.
