Los Angeles Politics Hotsheet for Wednesday

No more free tickets to events for Mayor Villaraigosa and other elected officials if the LA Ethics Commission has it's way.  The panel has voted that if an elected official wants to stay at Laker game, the Oscars, Latin Grammys after conducting an official presentation or making a speech they must pay for their tickets. Dopey Commissioner Nedra Jenkins was the lone dissenting vote thinking the City looks good if Villaraigosa is schmoozing George Lopez or Paris Hilton at events.

There's more...

In recent years LA/Ontario Airport, which is owned and operated by the City of Los Angeles even though it's well outside LA's borders, has seen it's fortunes struggle and negatively impact the economy of the region.  City officials in Ontario, who want to take the airport over from LA, blame mismanagement by LA World Airports for LA/Ontario's misfortunes.  Now they've laid out a plan for Ontario to take control and turn around the airport.

LAist reports that Clowncilman Paul Koretz wants to take $125,000 of city money (that comes from revenue from ads on bus benches and other structures) that is legally dedicated to street furniture and other improvements to hire someone who would focus on how to build such street furniture.  Of course this begs two questions, 1) Who is it that Koretz wants to hire for this cushy job and 2) Why the hell isn't Koretz dealing with real issues in his district?

Phil Jennerjahn further marginalizes himself within the Republican Party as he slams fellow GOPers such as controversial activist Jose Aguilar and Mayor Sam Blogger Scott Johnson for their support of the party nominee Meg Whitman for Governor.  Jennerjahn, who like Joe B is working to get Jerry Brown elected even goes as far to criticize Republican State Senate candidate John Stammreich for his support of eMeg.

A gay former Saudi diplomat is begging the US to give him asylum as if he is sent back home to Saudi Arabia he will be executed by our eternal friends for homosexuality.  No word if the Democrat party will take up his cause.

Maybe Koretz is looking to hire Jack Weiss for the job.

Higby,

WELCOME!

On 9/15/2010, you're the very last person to realize that Phil Jennerjahn marginalizes himself on a daily basis.

Good that you acknowledge that he is actively working to elect Jerry Brown.

Some conservative!

This is what Joe B. writes when confronted with the question, "If Whitman's ads are lies, why did Jerry Brown apologize to Bill Clinton?"

Joe B. said...
Oh brother.

SEE, THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A BULLY IS CONFRONTED WITH FACTS. CLINTON SAID SUCH-AND-SUCH, AND BROWN APOLOGIZED. FACT. JOE B. HAS NOTHING TO REPLY WITH, SO INSTEAD OF IGNORING, ALL HE COULD SAY IS "OH BROTHER."

CHECK MATE, BULLY.

WHY didn't Higby link to Joseph Mailunder's most recent screed I mean blog?

Joseph or Mulholland Taco or whoever he presumes to be is fighting bigotry with bigotry.

The anti-Christian clown needs to shut up. I guess he's Catholic. Talk about clery molestation and he flies off the pan handle.

If Walter Moore wrote about Mexicans the way Mulholland Asswipe writes about Christians Joseph would be posting his blingays or whatever the kids call them.

He thinks that he fought Home Depot so he's the creme de la creme.

He goes against Nuch but Nuch is doing more than this idiot will ever do. I am sure Nuch will handle him.

I don't know why people are against Trutanich. I think he's fucking AWESOME.

The only person who is pissed at him for an obvious reason is "pay for play" ZD who thought Tru would "pay him back" with a job. Sorry, ZD, that's CORRUPT, and you should know better.

As for throwing that executive in jail for not removing the supergraphics, THAT'S FUCKING AWESOME! WAY TO GO TRU! DO MORE OF THAT, AND THROW CARDENAS, ALARCON, VILLAR AND HUIZAR IN JAIL AND I WILL VOTE FOR YOU FOR WHATEVER YOU RUN FOR.

Chalk me up as another person who says that Joe Barrette is a bully. It's rather obvious. But I think dodging direct questions is cowardly.

Ironic: a cowardly bully.

You're ridiculing the guy from Saudi Arabia but it's true---they DO execute openly gay people there. So why did you turn the issue into a snarky, sarcastic comment? And why do you tie the Democrats into it?
George Bush used to hold hands and kiss the Saudi prince on the lips. Remember those photos? Bush never looked as GAY as he did with that Saudi prince.

Delusional Nancy Pelosi said today that she thinks the DemoCRAPS will hold onto the house.

She must be living on Mars, and thinks that they did a good job at last summer's town hall meetings where they all got beaten up very badly.

I guess she doesn't realize that NO Dems are running based on their support of health care reform.

I can't wait for Old Nan to lose her speakership, and just be a demoralized Congresscunt.

What's up with this blog? It looks like all the comments are about each other. Is this a blog to comment on other bloggers?

I was shocked the Ethics Commission actually had the balls to do this. Makes Antonio look really corrupt and cheap. Did he go to VMA's or Emmys for free again?
I just read a story that has me seeing red. How much did the illegals protesting in Westlake cost the city? Not one reporter wants to say. Now a Southern California Immigration Coalition wants murder charges against a cop who saved a woman's life but the media keeps focusing on the drunk suspect. 323-602-3480 call and let them know what you think. I agree with Daily News its time to get rid of Special Issue 40 in this city. The hell with all these out of control losers destroying our city

8:07 I think you are confusing three of four people. Don't think Joseph had anything to do with Home Depot.

Anyway the reason I didn't link to his blog was he wrote his after I did mine. I link there often.

Note to Phil Jennerjahn

Phil, if you want my vote for City Council, you need to start showing up more at their meetings.

I loved it when you went and yelled at Alarcon to resign! That was awesome! The silent response they gave you was funny as shit! But you need to keep doing that if you want my vote.

People will vote for you if you do this once or twice a week, and since you'll already be there, you can talk about the agenda items and show us what you'd do about it.

If you do, you've got my vote! But I want to see your presence there on a regular basis. That's how we know you'll be committed to the job.

The city is on the verge of bankruptcy but this failure of a Mayor allows the illegals to march like tomorrow and its costing the city millions. Too bad there is no leadership in Los Angeles and the nation is making fun of our politicians
