I second that 9:44. Today's flyers were "Hail Mary" hit pieces that will certainly fail.
What the angry third place candidate is going after Chris (the woman who took Tamar's guaranteed spot)? I am shocked by this development... zzzzzzzzzz
The good news is that the dirtier the mailers get from Essel, the more obvious it is her campaign is in the toilet and has nothing to lose.
Pat Davenport and Dale Thrush should start looking for another community to bully.

Dale goes to bat for the community at hearings whether he agrees or not because that's what Wendy/Joel want him to do and he gives it 100%. He shows up to community meetings and answers everyone's question (whether you like the answer or not), but he gets a ration because he is supporting someone else... Low class attacks!

You can tell how effective a mailer is by the response. Krekorian campaign is obviously very worried. Again, they are off message. Doesn't bode well.

Before you judge, you ought to check the Internet for some of the crap put out by the more militant factions who support Paul Krekorian.

Let's be clear...as a person who comes from a very Orthodox Jewish family. There is no such thing as "secret Jews." Lapsed sure, but secret no. Generally we are loud and proud. Anyone using "secret" is full of (well terms no longer used on Mayor Sam..at least not by a nice Jewish boy).
Actually she's got a point. There's some pretty anti-semitic Armenians out there Paul ought to have distanced himself from a long time ago. This is going to get worse for him.
As a Jewish voter I was against Krekorian after he started playing the race card with that genocide denier stuff. I agree that a mailer with a women restrained with ropes has no place in a city council campaign. Krekorian crossed a few lines and now he's in attack mode when Essel calls him on it. I can't wait for this whole election stuff to be over and we can get mayor Sam back to LA issues across the city not just cd2.

She is bankrolled by the thug D`Arcy, who is stealing from the mouths of seniors to pay for garbage, deceiptful mailers. Essel/Greuel/D`Arcy, there is god up there and your day of reckoning is coming, with Essel`s on Dec 8th.
Essel and her user Wendy are so dumb, they do not realize that they are exploited by the thief, Shallman. Girls, the absentee ballots are in, Paul has won and it does not matter how much garbage and lies you unload now , except you are making the thief Shallman richer and the thug D`Arcy feel self important.

The Times' endorsement of Chris tonight again, as expected, is so lame, gives no compelling reasons, except that she worked for two mayors including Riordan - they all but come out and say Riordan wants her, to push HIS favored development projects, and that's it. Don't even mention Paul, despite his years of service, but I guess he should be glad they don't slime his as they usually do to the non-endorsed candidate.
The Daily News' endorsement of Paul tonight was more specific.

I was worried months ago when Paul called Christine an “armenian genocide denier” on radio and in print. It felt wrong. It felt contrived. Campaigns can get ugly certainly, but there is no reason to begin race baiting. It was an obvious attempt to villify her within the Armenian community. Mayor Sam and Mike Higby wrote extensively about this and the hateful rhetoric on the blog went sky high against Christine. It seemed to give his supporters justification for the horrible name calling. The Armenian press went wild for Paul and the anti-semitic comments upped the ante. As a woman, I was worried again by the photograph of Christine tied up on the cover of Paul’s mailer. It’s just over the top and not necessary. These are hallmarks of a campaign consultant that truly hates Essel.
I’m not surprised Essel’s team reacted this way. Frankly, I too was disappointed that Paul has never tried to distance himself from Higby just as Obama rightly condemned Rev. Wright for hateful rhetoric. That shows strength of character and would have earned Paul a gold star from many.
Now he seems to be overreaching and defensive in his response to a mailer that was inevitable under the circumstances he helped to create. I don’t see this going well for Paul. He set the tone early. Men might not get this, but Pauls response feels so much like the batterer blaming the victim for the abuse.
Leadership requires a statesmanlike response. It will be interesting to see if either candidate will step up before this thing is over.
Yes, Kerkorian is overjoyed that the endorsement he begged for, yes, BEGGED FOR, has gone to Christine Essel, who is going to clean his clock and make him just another tax and spend failed Sacramento HACK.
Say goodbye, Paul, your days here are numbered. Go back to Sacramento where your kind is all located. Think up more ways to tax us so you can spend more.

I'm surprised at the shrill response from Paul's campaign. It does drudge up the his charges about Turks backing her because she's a denier. Let's be honest, that charge was ridiculous. I can't see Essel hanging out with Turks, she probably doesn't even know any.
I also don't think that was helpful for him with average white voters in CD 2. It doesn't seem believable and it seems a bit desperate.
Paul would be better served discussing SB1818. He's really been taken out of his game. Not something he can afford in a close race.

Lets see, Paul co-hosted the dinner for CAIR in Sacramento and Tamar was going to use that against him if she made it to the run off. Even the California US Senators condsider them a front group for HAMAS and now she condems Chris. Very disapointing that Tamars work at the JDL wasn't enough to keep her from selling out.

Its not news that Essel got the Times endorsement. Riordan engineered that. He told them "She's our girl. We own her."

Tamar was utterly humiliated by her defeat. Essel didn't even ask her for her endorsement which was even more humiliating. Now she gets a chance to lash out. It's so transparent and over the top. Paul's obviously desperate to use this unpopular school board member. Two peas in a pod.
I understand Tamar, she's short sighted and stupid. It's personal for her.
I would be shocked if Sherman and Feuer help Paul on this one. It's too much muck to wade into on both sides. Paul's supporters have made some very serious anti Jewish remarks that he should have come out against before this and the rope mailer was stupid.
Just saying Paul is not anti-semetic won't be enough. They would have to defend his silence on the statements.

Will someone please post a link to Essel "tied up" or "hog-tied"? The one mailed to me shows Essel's wrists and ankles attached to strings like a puppet in front of a DWP bill which as about as accurate as it gets. Anyone claiming to be a woman offended by this is not a woman and obviously works for Essel.
11:51, there ARE "secret jews" around the world, from Muslim countries to notably, MEXICO and other Latin American countries.
There was a whole series about it on NPR - countries where NOT being the Christian majority, and where there's overt of subtle anti-semitism INCLUDING Mexico especially until very recent laws were passed. Even now where there may be official laws to protect, people are ostracised. But until recently the antisemitism was so great many parents didn't tell their kids they WERE Jewish until they turned adults or 13, then let them decide. OR they'd hold secret shabbat services while also very openly "acting" Christian.
However I don't know what any of this has to do with ANYONE's campaign here.
The way Essel's campaign/ Shallman cut out the right half of mailer to omit the context, of her being a PUPPET and not woman in ropes, was low and typically Shallman.
But the "artist" should have made it all a cartoon with Chris in puppet costume not a business suit so this sort of visual lie couldn't occur. He should have anticiipated Shallman twisting it out of context. Shallman with those sleazy and disgusting dog pictures he sent out of Weiss was considered funny by you people - BECAUSE it was so over the top? Then Weiss got slammed for HIS "nasty" campaign responses? Sounds like deja vu all over again thanks to Shallman having arrived on the scene to slime it DOWN in every possible way.
With Shallman setting the barre so low in each race, can we bet money on the next ones being just as slimy or worse? Where will it end?

Whoever Paul's campaign manager is ought to be fired. At least get a graphic designer good enough to photoshop a marionette being held with D'Arcy's hands and real string.
It's been done a million times on political mailers. I'm concerned that they actually could have done it and chose NOT to. Which makes the ad mysogynistic.
Paul Krekorian was not the individual or entity who called Christine Essel an Armenian Genocide denier. This was published in a well respected local Armenian publication which found out about the event. He was at some point asked to comment. This characterization of Essel was not contrived. She too the money from the organization which denies a horrific part of history. Now she is using the Holocaust against Krekorian? Isn’t this what the focus should be right now? What place does using something as disgusting, and destroying have in this race? This is the horrifying and inappropriate truth. Who does something like this? Paul Krekorian has NOT accepted money from any group which denies what happened to the Jews and many others. He has been nothing but supportive of the Jewish community. These posts pf the last two days are as misleading as Essel’s original mailer. Essel, NOT Krekorian, has insulted 2 entire communities.
Essel’s Campaign and her supporters continue to spread lies and twist the truth in all their materials. Her most recent flyer includes skinhead imagery. Why are you not taking her to task on this? Who cares what some anonymous fool says on a blog. Essel is using and condoning these images for her own gain. She is approving them. These are NOT from Paul Krekorian Holocuast and Skin Heads VS. an image of a woman as a puppet. Which is worse? Essel as a puppet is not a Male/Female image. Village To Village has alluded to Essel being a puppet for Wendy Greuel, the Mayor, the IBEW and other special interests.
7:43 - Paul Krekorian never called Essel a Genocide denier. Her own actions did that. She went to the event for her. She took the money and has been using it. There is no place in city government for using the Holocaust. It is disgusting. Worse than any rude comment made on a blog. These is a serious lack of judgement on the part of Miss Essel and her advisors. It is wholly inappropriate. I am disgusted.
I get the feeling Higby won't publish a comment that is unfavorable towards Galatzan - let's see if he'll print this. I'll say it again - why is she spending time campaigning for Krekorian instead of doing her job and paying attention to our failing schools and the LAUSD budget crisis??? Its obvious she doesn't want to be a school board member - its time for her to resign!
