Ron Kaye is right on the money with this one.
The hunger for out of control development and profit is the giant piece of the iceberg lurking just out of sight.
What a bunch of BS. Its one big dog pile on Essel today isnt it boys. Well wake up and smell the sacramento coffee. This Guy Krekorian is bad news, He nearly bankrupted our state and now he wants to bail and run to our citys shelter form the storm. No way buddy. Go back and clean up the mess you made in sacramento and deal with whats coming down the pike from your sweeping the deficits under the state rug. Come back in two years and try again....in BURBANK.

Comparing the list of endorsements for Krekorian verses Essel is the single most damning evidence I've seen about Wendy Greuel.
The support for Krekorian among REAL PEOPLE, actual constituents of CD2, citizens who are active and aware of local governance issues, is overwhelming. Their endorsement of Krekorian over Essel is a direct reflection of their anger at Wendy Gruel and all that she stands for.
These are people who have had years to get to know the real Wendy. Many of them (like me) may have voted for her, in her initial CD2 run, believing the slick packaging that portrayed Wendy as a non-career politico, blah-blah-blah. Then, over time and experience, these people got to know the real Wendy, and now they know better.
They do not want Essel because Essel would be even worse than Wendy. Wendy, meanwhile, bailed on CD2 out of personal ambition, and is now using the Controller's office as a platform to make a name for herself that will (she no doubt hopes) lead to bigger state-wide or even nation-wide ambitions. God help America if that happens.
I used to think the worst thing San Fernando valley politics unleashed on the outside world was the lizard-lidded Alex Padilla. Now I'm afraid the worst thing might be a pert little blond pink-martini sipper named Gruel.

If you get lumped in with the company you keep then lets look at all of Pauls good old boy buddys and lets really look at the women he hangs out with. That lobbiest he like to lunch with. Whats her name again? Its on the tip of my tounge..... They looked pretty chummy in that picture. Could you guys post that again. He looks so happy there.
Ron Kaye is a beloved community figure. More distinguished than David Berger.

Except Kaye is wrong that SLAP and he had a victory in Trutanich - he WAS/ IS the Essel equivalent, the one whose record is ANTI-environmental protections which makes HIM the perfect puppet for big developers supported by the Times - the exact same slime campaign vs. Paul was FABRICATED for Trutanich the wannabe, an ANTI-environmental lawyer lying on his ballot designation that he's pro=environment, like Essel being for the CRA an advocate for AB818 now claiming she never meant it.
That is why Trutanich not only supports Essel and vv. down the line BUT this sort of lie is a hallmark of Shallman clients, because they are 'owned by' Riordan and the would-be developer of Verdugo Hills, Universal, any chosen developer cronies (based on political payback NOT what's right for the site and community), with the PR spinning of the LA Slimes. Shallman's clients get their special interest money BECAUSE they're bad for the environment, have no scruples about it at all.
Essel is on KPCC/ Larry Mantle this morning saying that krekorian is to blame for any comments made on THIS blog and should apologize for some anon's comments that were antisemitic. Because this blog/ Higby are listed as his endorser on his website.
Clearly she's reading Shallman talking points - repeated the SAME thing even in response to another question about HER campaign being accused of anti-semitism by a Rabbi, had no response for that (didn't make it into her prepared notes).
WHAT HYPOCRISY from another Shallman cookie-cutter candidate: THIS BLOG WAS/IS FEATURED ON CARMEN TRUTANICH'S WEBSITE AS THE MAJOR MEDIA THAT SUPPORTS HIM AND HE CITES BIASED COMMENTS/THREADS ON THIS BLOG AS OBJECTIVE "MEDIA" AND HE ALSO ACTIVELY USED ZUMMA DOGG WHO WAS BLOGGING HERE THEN, ON THIS BLOG AND ON HIS OWN, MAKING LIBELOUS COMMENTS ABOUT WEISS.
DAVID BERGER/ AKA 'RUMPOLE' WAS CONSTANTLY ON THIS BLOG AND HAS BEEN AGAIN RECENTLY, MAKING NASTY, FABRICATED AND EVEN LIBELOUS ACCUSATIONS AND MISSTATEMENTS.
Shallman USED this blog and these people for a very long time, and proudly posted it on HIS site.
HOW he has Essel AND the LATimes making these accusations AGAINST PAUL HIMSELF just because it didn't skew for Essel = you can be SURE that if Higby was for Essel like he shilled for Trutanich, this blog would sitll be hailed as "media" in glowing terms!
Don't underestimate the political brilliance of John Shallman.
He always sees things more clearly than others.
Higby, stop allowing these pro-Essel posts.
