Actually I was just checking Google Analytics. Indeed, tons of clickety clicks and Friday shot up like a rocket but an interesting factoid was contained in the reporting.

After about five different variations of Mayor Sam (i.e. Mayor Sam, Mayor Sam's blog, Mayor Sam's Sister City, etc) the number one search term that led people to the blog was "Phil Jennerjahn."

Phil may be more famous than any of us thought!

I am running for Congress in 2010.

Lots of political websites are listing me as a candidate. Google hits also show Mayor Sam.

I'm hoping Conservative donors across the nation will be pleased with terms like

"Freedom-hating liberal"

"Budget-destroying Socialist"
(a.k.a. Paul Krekorian)

Anyone see the article in the LA WEEKLY on how the corrupt city council was manipulated by Tim Lie Weekly. The article is headlined:
"Poor, Ultrarich Tim Leiweke - L.A. City Hall Genuflects to AEG, Someobdy forgot to tell Carmen Trutanich"

Check it out. Page 15. The reporter asks a very important question:

"Today, more than three months after Jacksons death, and depite public promises, neither Villaraigoa nor the City Council have actually explained who authorized tax payer money for an event that benefited a corporation owned by a billionaire."

10:42 Krekorian has an army of hundreds of Armenian UCLA, CSUN, USC and LAVC students and all their friends. They're motivated and having fun and, well trained. They are transmitting their enthusiasm to the voters they are meeting. Shallman, with all the money in the world, even if he was keeping less of Essel's money for himself, could NOT buy that.

Essel has a paid army out walking who are the same people who are movie extras, marketing panel participants, survey takers, secret shoppers, product samplers at Costco and birthday party clowns. Its just a paycheck to them. Someone told them go knock on doors, ask who they're voting for and pass out brochures. They're not going to sell you on Essel.

Go to Chris' endorsement page (www.essel09.com/endorsements) and by the numbers, I'll comment:

#1 is the L.A. Times. The Times could care less about the Valley and CD2. They are all downtown; please endorse Chris again because we in CD2 hate the times.

#2 is Wendy. Wendy now is very concerned about what all of L.A. thinks of her so she is in damage control mode right now. The endorsement's value is waning.

#3 is Riordan. He does help her with the older, wealthier and more conservative voters.

#4 through 15 are a bunch of elected officials having nothing to do with CD2. I like Tom LaBonge because he such a BS’er and great speaker but otherwise, he’s “empty.” Some of these endorsers are offensive top CD2 as they imply that, “we know what’s good for you but would never set foot in your district.”

#16 is my favorite. Dario Frommer did absolutely nothing for CD2 when he was the Assemblyman and we were so glad to see him leave. So you have to wonder why Chris asked for his endorsement. She knows little about CD2.

#17 is a good conservative endorsement but it’s not Zev; our guy that covers CD2.

#18 though 20 mean nothing.

#21 Ed Begley; he’s all over the place. He supported Haden but he’s gone a little more conservative. One might think Chris gets the Green Vote but I don’t think Ed has enough gravitas.

#22 through 31 are nice endorsements to have. Again, nice endorsements to have but they’re not “top-ten” material. The Chamber is a good one for the business and perhaps conservative voter.

#32 is my favorite. Ken’s a Sherman Oaks guy who made a failed run for Council many years ago. He stumbled over the fact that he got conations from a porn outfit. He was on the Board of the Greater Valley Glen Council (GVGC) and people did not like him. He actually supported a developer who wanted to build a condo building on a quiet street of houses in Valley Glen. He resigned as he got more involved with Sherman Oaks NC. So he’s got pluses and minuses. He’s OK for Sherman Oaks and a somewhat negative galvanizer for North Hollywood and Valley Glen. I do respect Ken for his support of the LAPD.

#33 to 39 are sort of uneventful. However, Terry Anderson is the current President of GVGC. He has provided much valuable help to Chris and I strongly encourage Chris to listen to this guy. He is Chris’ main and only NC link to Valley Glen. Tony Lucente is good for Studio City power types but he is not liked in other areas of CD2 because of his work on BONC. In fact, he allegedly violated the Brown Act several times in certifying NCs when there were dispute issues. He’s a smart guy though. Besides, when has anybody been convicted of a Brown Act violation.

#40 is Art’s Deli. I have boycotted this place. Art was supporting Tamar early in the race and suddenly switched: I do not know why.

I know I’m a little biased but my observations are the following:

1) Notice how the bottom four candidates that endorsed Chris are not at the top of her list. Chris, you are right, they are not worth bragging about….and where is Zuma Dogg anyhow?

2) To me, Riordan is a great endorsement if only he would move his tired old ass (rather than his money connections) and get out there and pound pavement.

3) Wendy’s endorsement now is everything about Wendy doing damage control. She is a careful lady and she is really thinking hard about what to do. She will definitely continue to back Chris but how?

So what does Chris do now? Whether it’s Shallman or someone else, they will advise her to use her cash to send out lots of mailers bashing Paul. The mailers look beautiful. They are glossy and look slick and expensive. Essel has no choice but to play this through in hopes that when a downtown or Hollywood district opens up, she’s got the experience under her belt to try again.

Steve Sample is leaving USC soon; does this mean Mike Garrett cannot be far behind? I sure hope so.

Garrett, the worst athletic Director in the Pac 10, should have been fired years ago, but the popular concensus has been that he has pictures of Sample with a dead girl or a live boy.

Does anyone know that Pete Carroll, who is also credited for saving Garrett's job, was his FOURTH choice? Pete practically begged Garrett for the job, but Garrett selected three others, all of whom turned down the job, before he finally offered it to Carroll.

Garrett interfers with the coaches and gets puahy in th elocker room. Pete needs to get rid of this monkey on his back.

Let's hope Sample takes Garrett with him, or that his replacement sees the need for a new A.D.

"South Central Community College" aka U.S.C. loss to Oregon was great television.

Maybe Sample's departure has something to do with the "Paid to Play" allegations involving Reggie Bush and O.J. Mayo.

But Sample should be given credit for improving academic standards at the "four year community college on Fig".

Still, U.S.C. employees like chief lobbyist David Galaviz and DWP commissioner Thomas Sayles remind you of the Trojan's onerous shadow on the doings at City Hall.

Both are car wrecks, though.

Phil, what are you going to list as your WINNING ACCOMPLISHMENTS for your campaign? Coming in last in the Mayor's race? Promising to spearhead a recall Antonio movement, but not telling us how many signatures you've got, now that we're a month past when you said you'd tell us?

The great thing about this blog is that all of your comments are permanently memorialized here, unless Higby deletes them.

So on WHAT DATE are you going to tell us HOW MANY recall Antonio sigs you've got?

Nobody is going to let this, or your last place finish, go until you either admit you fucked up, or you start showing what you've accomplished.

Wendy is not looking to good after DWP and the gangster D'Arcy's boys got a raise while cops didn't. Wendy got $200,000 from the union.
Hot stories you missed Mayor Sam , today Antonio better get another image team cause he's quickly going down the toliet.
....MTA's rail-car contract falls apart at last minute, scuttling hundreds of jobs -A tentative and controversial deal to build 100 rail cars for Los Angeles County's transit system has fallen through -- taking with it plans to build a $70-million factory that would have created hundreds of local jobs.Last-minute negotiations failed to result in a contract with AnsaldoBreda, an Italian manufacturer that is three years behind schedule on an existing contract to deliver 50 rail cars to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

More photo ops for the gang banger Mayor using a Chief nominee for Chief. Villaraigosa has NOTHING NOTHING HE'S ACCOMPLISHED SO NOW HE'S USING LAPD AGAIN AS ALWAYS CAUSE HE HAS NOTHING. What a bastard!!!
//////The mayor has said he will push for City Council confirmation of his appointee Nov. 10, after a round of meeting with City Council members and community groups.

What a fucking idiot!!! Its the other way around moron. You should have community input first you putz. Mayor Hahn never gave the final names because he was smart enough to make a decision without an advisory board all by himself. Antonio can't do that let alone say one sentence correctly. He has it all wrong. The community and NC input should have been first before the decision was made. Then confirmation of city council you idiot! Boy, Antonio is really as stupid as he looks. He's going to drag the nominee around for the cameras all over town.

Celeste Fremon is saying this on her blog. "I heard late on Friday afternoon that after the twinned news announcements of Gavin’s bow out, and Jerry’s guy’s Nixonian moment, there was chatter among high level staff in the Villaraigosa’s office about what a “great governor” the mayor would make. One assumes that this is merely wishful thinking, and that Antonio and his people are not (gulp) actually contemplating such a move.

It is just wishful thinking, right Mr. Mayor?

11:33 so what? It doesn't take a brain surgeon to know that Essel does not have the critical endorsements: those of community leaders and NC's in all of the communities in this district. One NC president, and a few "former this or that" or has been activists don't cut it. And a point of information. Ken Gurston was never on the Greater Valley Glen Council. He was on their interim council years ago before it was certified, known then as the Valley Glen Community Council. For the most part, he's not known in that community anymore.

What should really cause concern is the number of City Council member endorsements Essel has as well as that of former CD2 Councilmember Wendy Greuel. That spells more of the same as it's obvious that Essel is the insider candidate. She's cut from the same cloth as the mayor, the city council, and downtown insider interests and lobbyists.

Those endorsements include Jan Perry (who was also involved in the CCA when Essel was Chair), Janice Hahn (ditto), Herb Wesson, Greig Smith, Bill Rosendahl and Tom LaBonge. This speaks volumes as to who they want in order to continue business as usual.

Krekorian has the single endorsement of Paul Koretz, the newcomer to City Council.

2:34: one of Paul's supporters has been on this blog throwing his and the other "newcomer" Paul's weight around as "the two Pauls," the two former Assemblymembers who are "the new machine in town."

So make up your minds: are you claiming to be the outsiders or the "new machine heavyweights?" NOT that it matters since Shallman is such a horse's ass (whether or not he has any funny ideas in mind for the horses of S-T) that his lies have caught up with Essel bigtime. Trutanich is not only a bully but utterly incompetent as predicted, the PPL has egg all over its face for throwing so much money at him and some others, the rank & file is talking Teamsters. His other client Cooley is being sued by the fledgling Dep DA's union because he's intimidating, harassing, demoting and generally retaliating against those who have tried to form a union to protect themselves from him - Daily News has the story. (Funny, the Times doesn't, shows how beholden they still are to him or just afraid?) With Shallman running their campaigns and Wendy counting on him for hers in the same vein, Essel's timing is bad.
