Mary Benson Endorses Paul Krekorian for City Council

Mary Benson has now released an official statement regarding her endorsement of Paul Krekorian. What follows is a portion of the press release from the Krekorian campaign:

NORTH HOLLYWOOD – Mary Benson, one of the most respected neighborhood advocates in the region and a former candidate in the race for City Council candidate, announced her full endorsement of Paul Krekorian on Friday. The announcement of Benson’s support is a very significant development in the race for CD2 that further exemplifies Krekorian’s widespread grassroots community support.

“Paul Krekorian has the courage of conviction, the experience and the independence to make an immediate impact for us in City Hall,” Benson said. “Paul has provided extraordinary service to constituents in his Assembly District. Paul will be an advocate for our valley interests. Paul will be the most effective in preserving public assets like the Verdugo Hills Golf Course and keeping the integrity of our specific and community plans. Paul Krekorian will be an independent voice in the Council who will fight for us, instead of Downtown interests and big developers. Paul Krekorian is the kind of leader that our district and our city need during these challenging times.”

Benson was one of the top candidates in the first part of the Council race, coming in a very strong fourth place with 1,198 votes (8.29% of the electorate) on September 22. She continually garnered rave reviews at candidate forums when she displayed an impressive mastery of issues, especially with regard to development, open space and the environment.

“Mary Benson is among the most effective advocates for community empowerment in the entire city, and I am thrilled she is now a part of our grassroots movement for change,” Krekorian said. “The issues that Mary has fought for -– open space preservation, limiting overdevelopment and protecting our neighborhoods -– are important parts of my mission in running for City Council, and I am confident of succeeding in that mission with Mary Benson by my side.”

Essel wins this one going away; Krekorian is a loser from the get go and Higby is well known for backing losers.

All the people on this blog could vote for krekorian and he'd still lose by double digits.

Phil has the pulse here and Essel is a winner.

She looks like a winner and Paul looks like a loser. People read that.

This endorsement is huge, huge! With the Benson and Galatzan endorsements money should start flowing to Krekorian. But if it doesn't he can't win. Money will win this race. It's the only thing that will count. If the best candidate could be the winner without lots of cash, Mary would already be elected.

It's true that Higby does have a loser's touch when it comes to picking elections, and acts like a pompous jerkoff. However, I think E$$-hole is toast. And I agree with 645pm that Phil Genderjane is a total dickhead.

CHRIST I can't wait for Phil to run for Congress! Can you imagine the belly laughs we're gonna have on this blog? I think not a one of us thinks he is capable to even stay afloat on a campaign, let alone in the job. Yes, Phil decided that L.A. is too small for him. So is getting some experience in Sacto, where I wish he'd move to become a secretary. No, he's aiming big: Congress. FUCK is that going to be funny or what?????

I never said I WASN'T a pompous jerkoff. Geez.

Anywaz, Essel didn't look like a winner on that Kevin James show where she was really nervous and not saying much.

I predict that in the next several days a cascade of endorsements will now start to come in for Paul from the people who backed Tamar and Mary in places like Sunland-Tujunga, Valley Village and Sherman Oaks.

Higby, you're right about Paul. There's no doubt he would have one without Benson or Tamar, but having them on board will make is a cake walk. Only downside is that it makes AV happy, but you can't have it all...

Essel people are obsessed with money, what they lost site of is that every Hacopian dollar is worth two Shallman dollars.

Hacopian does not steal from his clients.

I will be Publicly endorsing Krekorian after Saturday's Candidate Forum. I do not wish for Chris Essel to feel like she is in an enemy camp.
Many in Sunland-Tujunga are just waiting a little Longer.

Wow... 5 of the last 7 stories here!

Heavily Pro-Paul Krekorian/ Anti-Chris Essel

Can we just re-name this blog??

Paul Krekorian for CD2 dot blogspot dot com?

The one sided treatment here is really getting out of hand.

At least I reported on everyone for CD 2 and gave them all praise or criticism depending on whether they had deserved it.

Memo to Phil: You can only have the same suit drycleaned some 26 times before it looks faded and threadbare and falls apart, claims from cleaners that their chemicals don't harm your clothing are total lies.

Just something to consider before you run for Congress. Something I'd think was utterly, totally ludicrous except that flip-flopper Rosendahl is doing the same thing, or worse, planning to run in place of Feinstein. Too bad you won't be running against each other, now that would be a show to watch!

Phil, welcome to the MS blog. I would have thought you knew before taking it on that this blog is filled with activists and neighborhood council members.

Many are activists who were pro-secession and therefore, planning and land use issues are the most important issue to them.

Your gal Chris has the WORST record on those issues.

Stop acting so surprised. Just go do your background homework and get caught up on the real stories behind the stories.

Paul! Paul! Paul! Paul! Paul!
