IBEW Boss Brian D'Arcy's "Hit Piece Mailer" on CD 2 Candidate Paul Krekorian and ** Lawsuit to Overturn Contribution Limits

"Buck me if you dare peons"
IBEW's Boss Brian D'Arcy and his cohorts just whack CD 2 Council Candidate Paul Krekorian, with one funny political mailer.
From the Ethics Website.
Local 18 Water and Power Defense League (IBEW) Los Angeles, CA 90004 (Independent Expenditure) Oppose Paul Krekorian City Council Member - District 02 Krekorian for City Council 2009 - General (1321819) [Election: 12/08/09] 11/17/09 11/16/09 Printing, production, postage, and research MAIL-10 $14,525.00 .
While the Special Interests at City Hall, pile thousands of dollars on their "vessel of choice", Krekorian will need to somehow counter the mail bag loads of mailers that are hitting the homes in CD 2.
Maybe, noted "political black ops campaign specialist" Eric Hacopian has something lurking in the shadows.
Your thoughts......
** Another reason to be wary of bucking "Boss D'Arcy",.... he sues.
A nonprofit group closely tied to the Department of Water and Power employee union has filed a federal lawsuit against the City’s Ethics Commission, saying a city campaign fundraising law is unfairly limiting its ability to advocate on behalf of City Council candidate Christine Essel.
The case comes during a two-week period when outside groups have poured more than $280,000 into independent expenditures to boost Essel’s bid to replace former City Councilwoman Wendy Greuel, who is now city controller. Among those groups is the political arm of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 18, which has spent more than $93,000 in support of Essel’s campaign. The union is headed by Brian D’Arcy.
Working Californians, the group suing the city, is co-chaired by D’Arcy and Marvin Kropke, the business manager of IBEW Local 11. The group devised the solar energy proposal known as Measure B on the March ballot, which was supported by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa but was defeated by voters. And D’Arcy showed his political clout last month when he negotiated a five-year package of raises for DWP employees at a time when the police union agreed to forgo pay increases for two years because of the city’s budget crisis.
The effort to buy Chris Essel a seat in the "horseshoe" has gone legal.
......and the flow of Special Interest money continues.

we just had an extremely nasty piece come in to our mailbox today. "Paulitics 101" I am disgusted by how low Essel's campaign is stooping.. they must be pretty desperate at this point. I love that they are using a quote from LA Weekly from 1999. That's 10 years ago.. how relevant is that? I'd love to see the proof of the special interest gifts that is referenced in the quote from the SAC BEE.

IBEW just got $1 million contribution from a non IBEW member to support Essel. This is from a special friend of the Mayors, any guesses?

Who can spend that kind of money?

AEG

I guess when Essel says "You can not buy me with $500 contributions she was sending a hint. I guess Essel is a bit more pricey then $500 that is why they are spending so much money on this race.

Oh sh_its Krekoring is going down with all the outside $$$$$$$$$.

When IBEW wants something it dose not care about the Voters it spends Money like its free and gets it passed.

Just like it did with Measure B, Oh that did not pass but that is because they only spent 20 to 1.

12:31, Nooch AEG's arch-enemy is pushing for Essel. Not that that's a plus to anyone but Ron Kaye crowd but it wouldn't make sense for HIS enemy and him and Antonio to all be on the same side. PROOF?

We DO see that D'Arcy is opposed to Paul because his money says so.

Speaking of Hacopian; there is a witch hunt as we speak in the mayors office trying to find out who leaked this letter to Hacopian.

Proof:
Will be in the putting of $ into the committee when you see the filings.

Reason:
AEG loves Essel, she gave them Millions of tax dollars from CRA.

Essel has Nooch's Family working for her, look at the filings. Nooch is a family guy and wants his family members to get good jobs, so he supports Essel. Essel has promised Nooch's family jobs on the city dime after the election.

AEG sees this as a 2for they get Essel and they get a soft side of Nooch, or someone that can nooch nooch.

D`Arcy already owns Wendy and now owns Chris. This money comes out of our skyrocketing utility bills. Can`t wait to hear how Wendy will explain this at her next campaign.

No wonder the water lines are breaking. Instead of fixing the water pipes D`Arcy is using the money to fill some other pipes........with the help of Antonio.

2:01, deep thought:

Nooch is "a family man" in the way Don Corleone was a "family man."

All his "family" in pedro started trying to influence peddle in pedro right after the March primary, even though they're too obvious and heavy-handed about it for most of them to be any good.

But they AND their "friends" have all been sucking on the taxpayer teat and the Nooch is gung-ho for ERIP because he's hoping to purge at least 60 lawyers AND lots of civvies to make room for "family."
(Dead weight pay-to-plays Berger and Usher who throw their weight around and everyone hates are no where near enough for him.)

He got by for years on "juice" from his friend DA Cooley's office selling influence to nap big-$$ clients who were rapists, woman batterers and best of all, toxic polluters who contributes big $$$ to Cooley and him and uh, persuade their friends to do the same. To get around those damn Democratic anti-environmental and gun laws.

If the Mayor thinks he's going to have a shared interest in Essel with this mob AND AEG and certain Democratic "downtown interests" he might be in for a surprise - those guys don't like to share. And AEG and Riordan would just as soon thrown Antonio under the bus now. (They probably already decided Jan Perry is too stupid to fight for.)

I heard the $1,000,000 came from Cadiz Water, and it's principal, Keith Brackpool.

But, what do I know?

I think you are right the $$$$ is from Cadiz inc and Mr. Brackpool. This is just the kind of people that Essel hangs out with.

I live in the City of LA. Like everyone, my LADWP bills have significantly risen over the past few years. D'Arcy has major political influence over city politicians because he's given thousands of dollars to their campaigns. Now he wants to give even more money so that Essel (and potentially other endorsed candidates) can get their messages out through mail and commercials and thereby win campaigns. This will give IBEW considerably more influence over elected officials who ultimately vote to increase costs to DWP consumers.

Who will be left to speak up for rate payers? Elected officials whose campaigns D'Arcy supported and who seek reelection or higher office? This sounds like a public statement that Chris Essel is bought and paid for by LADWP's union - the same people who benefit from higher rates to DWP consumers. I say absolutely not! NO WAY CHRIS ESSEL. NO MORE BUYING POLITICIANS AT THE EXPENSE OF HARD WORKING PEOPLE!!!
