Zuma Dogg for CD2?
Former Mayoral candidate, erstwhile blogger and tireless advocate for the community David "Zuma Dogg" Saltsburg is mulling a run for the soon to be vacated Council seat of Wendy Greuel, if his Twitter page is to be believed. Saltsburg lays out a series of reasons why he would run for Clowncil. This is one of my favorites:
WHY ZUMA DOGG IS THINKING OF RUNNING FOR CITY COUNCIL CD 2 (Reason 1): Imagine ZD being able to speak throughout entire meetings, at will!
We know the usual chorus of nay-sayers and haters will chime in (however no trolling allowed) but Zuma could be an interesting choice. If anything he could collect a series of chits from folks who didn't support him for Mayor but said they would support him if he ran for Council. As well, Zuma has high name ID and pockets of suport in CD2. It will be interesting. Stay tuned.

That is just what this City needs to SLAP them into shape. No kidding. Those who laugh at this are crazy. If I were in trouble, I would want Zuma Dogg to help me out. I trust him. If he had money, he would be unstoppable.
Zuma, you know I would support that idea. Damn. I know you don't it up here in the North Valley, but if you were making $170K, it wouldn't seem so far away from Starbucks, right? ;)

Well, come out and let us know if you STILL endorse him Mayor Sam.
You endorsed him for Mayor. But knowing what you know now, do you STILL endorse him? If so, why? Or if not, why?
Given your cowardly nature of late, I don't expect you'll even post this, let alone answer it CLEARLY.

Last week, Friday, Garcetti was boasting during the coucil meeting of how respectful they are of the pubic's right to choose a representaitve as the council is selecting an election to fill Wendy Greuel's coucil seat rather than an appointment to last until the 2011 elections come.
I'll bet he really did not ever think that ZD might be in that election and possibly be there to comment for more than the 3 or 4 spots allowed now.
As low as the voter participation turns out to be, it could be anyone's game. Who is the Villaraigosa-approved candidate- or have all the back-room deals still need to be concluded first?
Garcetti also announced that there is only a 30-day residency requirement for running in any particular district, somehow taking pride in that brief prerequisite. Later, referencing that item, Rosendahl said, "By teh way no carpetbaggers. We want people who know the district."
So just about anyone can qualify to run there in CD-2. The cost? I think Garcetti said $1 million dollars, maybe $1-1/2 million dollars, for conducting the election. "The price of democracy."
Sept. 22 election and December 8 for a runoff, if needed; cost estimated $1.9 million if a runoff needed.
LaBonge's history note: 1966 last time there was an appointment- Ferraro.
That whole proces was about Item 10 on the agenda- passed. A candidate filing will open in July for 6 days, then signatures have to be gathered to qualify.

no chance of walter getting a porn star like Antonio!

Walter, it is one thing to jab at Zuma when you were election opponents, but if you are still doing that, it says a lot about you and don't you think people see that?

Fun facts re Zuma's votes vs. Wendy's votes:
March 6, 2007
Greuel is elected to City Council with 10,575 votes, which was 100% of the vote. She ran unopposed.
March 3, 2009
Zuma got 9,115 votes. This was city-wide, but still, it was nearly as many as Greuel got.
Zuma also got more votes -- admittedly city-wide -- than several City Council Members, and nearly as many as others. Examples include:
LaBonge - 8,486 votes
Alarcon - 5,131 votes in 2007; 8,450 in 2009
Parks - 9,620 votes
Wesson - 8,506
Huizar - 8,785
Reyes - 7,609
Perry - 7,158
Garcetti - 8,605

UGH! I might not be able to do it because then I would have to listen to Janice go on and on and on and on about NOTHING in THAT VOICE! I don't know people. It only pays in the $180,000 range. Add Ed Reyes' voice and speeches on top of Janice, and I don't think it's enough money. (Even WITH kickbacks.)

Here's my slogan if I decide to run..."If you don't vote for me, you will be hurting kids!" (Isn't that the kinda stuff L.A. politicians say.
Oh, and also, if anyone has a bunch of kids I can use to take pictures with and look like I am helping, please let me know.
And remember, if you don't vote for me, you will be hurting kids.

Zuma Dogg for CD2??
Sure, why not?
But won't he have to change his voter registration to somewhere in CD2?
Although, theoretically, if Zuma Dogg actually is homeless, can't he technically run for ANY City Council seat that opens up?
Just curious to see what the City Clerks Office will/will not allow.
mad as hell, etc said:
M. Jennerjahn, re your comment: I know about the City Clerk Dept. They will allow almost anything to occur.
Mr. Saltzburg, if you decide to campaign for the Council seat, photocopy your petition signatures, lest the City Clerk Dept. "accidentally misplaces" them and disqualifies you.
I've a long memory. Most of the community on this blog would be amazed at the spectacle aka "City Clerk Dept."

Chris Essel would wipe the streets with the loser Schmaltzburger.
I hope he runs to show people how inept the fool really is.

Foxy LA Lady this is not good for Lu. It turns her into a joke. Though by reading her blog and watching some of her clips she already looks like a joke. A hot joke, but a joke nonetheless. She is no Mirthala.

Good, then maybe Zuma Dogg will help Chris Essel win by taking votes away from others. If Chris is such a big bad janitor with her big mop, then Chris will be coming in first anyway and will be in the run off. (Which there most likely will have to be with so many people running.)
And thanks for those "fun facts" Walter on ZD getting more votes than a bunch of loser-turkeys, but yeah, Garcetti was quick to remind me when I mentioned it. But they spent a lot of money.
The main thing to consider, when evaluating a ZD CD 2 run, in comparison to the 9100 votes I got...if you, Walter weren't on the ballot, a lot of people who voted for you, would vote for me for CD 2, I think. I'M NOT SAYING 100% of your voters like ZD, but I do think we share a large subset.
POINT IS: Although 9100 votes is good, I think the pool of CD 2 voters in the council election could be MUCH bigger.
(And NO, I am not saying Walter shouldn't have run, this is about extrapolating.)

Vote Chirs Essel, because what the city needs is the political machine backed Chair of Paramount Pictures as Councilmember. Why don't you just open up a teller window at the council office to accept the checks.

Chris is the real deal. I'd be surprised to see any fool run against her, even Salzburgr.

Someone keeps calling him Schmaltzberg. I know that is a Jewish Yiddish ethic term for pig fat you cook with. Since that is not his real name are you trying to poke fun at his Jewish sounding name? Maybe you don't think a Jewish sounding name will play well in Wendy's district?

O.K., here's, "next" Mr. 3:45 Smart Loser Ass:
During Monday night's fundraiser at the Richard Ziman home, city airport commissioner Christine Essel was pitched to the crowd as a candidate to succeed Wendy Greuel in the 2nd city council district. You may have heard of Richard Ziman. He is the tippy top of the totem pole at Wetherly Capital who you may have heard about in Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, SEC and other pending investigations. THAT Richard Ziman of Wetherly, who threw a fundrasier for Jack Weiss where pension commissioners were forced to resign. Looks like Chirssie is his gal!
Anonymous concerned citizen said...
The boiling bi-coastal scandal involving Wetherly Capital Group, a New York pol and some Villaraigosa commissioners is likely the reason that Monday night's Beverly Hills fundraiser for congressional candidate Judy Chu had a last-minute change of top billing.
It was at the Ziman residence that a Jack Weiss fundraiser last month — co-hosted by Wetherly boss Dan Weinstein — led to the resignation of Kelly Candaele from the City Employees' Retirement System Board. (Sean Harrigan and Elliott Broidy resigned last week from Villaraigosa's Fire and Police Pensions board after receiving inquiries from the SEC.)
Source: laobserved.com
Concerned Citizen Footnote: (Also in attendance at the above mentioned fundraiser was former Governor Gray "Kicked the hell out of office" Davis who Wetherly Capital arranged a meeting with on behalf of Vivendi ("quid pro quo"/pay to play) in a meeting regarding a "white sheet" on what is now the current water crisis fame. Wetherly was to get 42,000 acres of Imperial Valley land in exchange for this meeting with Davis, but it kinda fell apart when ZD's, now infamous Wetherly Source, refused to go along for the election fraud and pay-to-play.)
But this is about the CD 2 election and the types of people who back the candidates. I guess all of this will eventually be dragged out if they are backing Chris Essel.
But what do I know? I'm just a concerned citizen. And no matter who you think this is, that IS...ALL that I am.

"NEXT" cont. -
Villaraigosa also received $1,000 each from former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Henry Cisneros and California Workforce Investment Board members.
Chris Essel is CHAIR of CALIFORNIA WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD. That are tied into the Henry Cisnero investments in L.A. workforce housing. This ended up being a BIG problem, as you know. And last week, during an L.A. Council meeting, one of the City pension experts cited the Cisnero's Workforce Housing as a the primary problem with Villaragiosa's pension board "packing power."
So Chris Essel is the Chair of that Board that worked with Cisneros on the investigated pension investment scheme that has ended up in a city bankrupting $7 billion pension loss in one year.
So yeah, vote for her to represent the community of Council District 2. The mayor needs a break.

Are you sure Chirs Essel is really going to run? I mean, I know Villaragiosa is out in the cold at LAX with no more juice whatsoever.
This loss of power was most recently seen last month when Villaragiosa's own LAX commissioner had no problem awarding the runway lighting project to the union OTHER than IBEW.
The commissioner told the IBEW to get lost, hence telling Villar to get lost and awarded the contract to the best bid, instead of strongest-arm bid.
So the IBEW is not too happy that Antonio lost THIS one too, along with Measure B.
So he's gotta get some LAX juice on City Council, and this LAX commissioner Chris Essel is well liked enough by people, and they'll never find out about all this other stuff. LET THE ZIMAN PITCHES BEGIN...OOOPS...what??? You mean all this stuff is easily accessible on the internet and it is exposed to thousands of people at a time on the blogs of "concerned citizen(s)?"
YOUR BAD!
Next candidate, please!
