Hell Breaks Loose In Iran

Today in Iran, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei made good on his promise to stop the protests and unleashed the Police/IRG/Basij on the demonstrators. Here is what looks like cellphone footage sent out the day the twig snapped.

WARNING: This next clip is pretty disturbing. A young woman is killed by gunshot during the confrontations:

-Meanwhile, back here in Los Angeles, hundreds gather to protest the violence and the election.

-President Obama steps off the sidelines in response to the violence.

-And if you want to follow the Twitter from an Iranian student on the frontline go to https://twitter.com/Change_for_Iran

So much violence in Iran. The protesting in Westwood is getting too emotional and I sense violence here at home soon.

A thread should be done on the Mayor screwing around with and moving money from the Gang Reduction Program. Money for Boyle Heights is being moved outside of the area. Look at the $72,000 new position he's created. The Story Project he gave $100,000 is located in Culver City. Too bad they couldn't keep up their program now the Mayor is moving the money elsewhere. This is all corruption with our tax dollars.

How come this subject is on here instead of for example the Times article THIS MORNING about Villaraigosa?

Iran is not a more important subject than the Mayor. I won't click on these clips because I don't see the effort here Joe.

Didn't you do your homework on what's being discussed locally? I suspect you're going to respond that ____ Iranians live in LA and they're protesting. But who cares? You didn't even write about that! If I want to see what's going on in Iran, I can just turn on cnn. Where is the effort Joe?

Wake up because this city is full of illegals including Iranians who have tons of money and live on the Westside. I hate when people protest here and cause violence. Look what's happening in their own country with violence. Its like the illegals who demand to have rights and march in protest but WE PAY FOR SECURITY AND THE FEES.

the morons on council are supporting illegal immigration with no neighborhood council input. There is a huge backlash against illegals in this city. Why are they supporting it without asking THE PEOPLE? There is unemployment of over 12% for LEGAL RESIDENTS but they help ILLEGALS first. IRS had Vernon meat plant fire 200 illegals who submitted false social security numbers. This is what our politicans are supporting in our city.

CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION (GARCETTI - CARDENAS - ALARCON - HUIZAR - ZINE) relative to the City's position on federal legislation that would reform the immigration system. ADOPT the following: Improving the economic situation of all workers in the United States; finding a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants working and living in the United States; reforming visa programs to keep families together, protecting workers’ rights, and ensuring that future immigration is regulated and controlled; implementing smart, effective enforcement measures targeted at the worst violators of immigration and labor laws; integrating immigrant into our communities and country; and, respecting the due process rights of all in the United States.

AND POPLE..I could care less about Iran, I ran so far aaawwwaaay. gOVERMENT NEEDS TO FOCUS ON US the people of America not there special interests, which should ready be us. Take all those harD core bangers out of Jails ship em over to fight, they locked Up anyway, they want to fight and kill, let em, over there. We need to fix us the USA NOT overseas.

this is tragic, how sad people can see a woman bleed to death and not care.

However keep in mind that if the opposition guy was declared the winner it wouldn't make Iran any more pro-American: he hates is too.

There's NO reason we need to get involved and Obama was right, the Republicans want to push him to meddle "For the sake of democracy" which is as stupid as Iraq was, democracy does NOT mean America would benefit in any way.

Sometimes a new regime is just even more ignorant of Iran's place in the world, more insular. Let them solve their own problems.

Ears and here we are all entering the door of the 3rd world only to
Have our politicians offering a hand to help pull us through that door.

Where's the balance on city issues? The idiots on council suppport bullshit stuff and this has been going on all week in Iran and not one word from those clowns. To the person who says Neighborhood councils are a joke you're an idiot. It was because of NC's organizing they took down city hall and the Mayor and beat them at their own game with no money on MEASURE B. Why do you think Smith and Parks back tracked when they wanted to reduce their funding, cause they realized their power. Sure there's idiots on some boards but overall they are good people who are volunteers and do more then the clowncil staffers

This is tragic but it's absolutely right for Obama to stay out of it -- both sides there hate America. Just like it was idiotic of Bush and Cheney to believe that going into Iraq to make them more "democratic" would make them less hostile to America.

And getting rid of relatively pro-American Musharef in Pakistan because he's wasn't "democratic enough" only led to more chaos and less cooperation with the U. S. So much for $10Billion/year or more to them, even less cooperation with our getting at Al Qaeda.

Put up an important thread vital to local voters: On Friday Jack O'Connell, Super of State Education, says he supports the Assemblymember who's got a bill to reduce to 55% the majority to vote for another "parcel"/ property tax, blaming our education crisis on Prop. 13.

Connell says educational success is directly tied to per-student spending so we need higher taxes.

BUT this right after he showed that almost 40% of state students (MUCH higher in L A) are "English learners," who pose unique problems and have a much higher failure rate. HELLO CONNECT THE DOTS.

Then Ed Reyes says that without denser housing in the areas that fight this most -- where illegals are currently not a majority -- "the drop-out rate will be higher without that housing."
The rest of them, Hahn, Huizar, have their own dumb contributions.

Why isn't anyone writing about this instead of picking on the same people and same things? Yes we have the right jumping on the Terminator for saying that "only about $5 billion" of our deficit is attributable to illegals, but we are on the verge of our property taxes being raised to educate their kids even as people are losing their homes and can't send their own kids to public schools anyway.

Not unless there are a LOT more charter schools. Only 4% of students attend them now, and LAUSD makes it almost impossible for them to share existing under-used space as they're required to by law.

Bill Rosendahl jumps up and down in support, urging Connell to run for Governor on the platform of making it easier for the state and LAUSD to raise property taxes. THAT WOULD BE A DISASTER RIGHT NOW.

Rosendahl himself wants to run for Feinstein's State Senate job. With his tax-raising agenda, even as he has now sided with Parks and Smith over stealing the trash fee hikes promised for cops into the mismanaged General Fund, and the way he flip-flops on everything, can you imagine the mischief he could make one of our 2 Senators?

I hate it when those like the poster at 11:37 AM calls the country EYE-RAN and EYE-RACK when it's proper to say IH-RAWN and IH-ROCK.

I don't really know how to phonetically spell them so I made it easy so the dum dums here could get it.

Forget Iran. Let's keep this blog local. You said it ALL, 4:12. I despise Jack O'Connell-- he's a fag traitor just like Rosendahl. How dare we allow an idiot like Reyes change our quality of life-- all so WE the taxpayers can provide a very expensive day-care service for foreign kids who have ZERO interest in learning anything other than gang signage! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS! What's it gonna be folks? Anybody wringing their hands over chaos in the Middle East is simply avoiding the problems RIGHT HERE out of political correctness.WAKE UP! We have got to render these leftists in the city council and in the state legislature BOUND and GAGGED-- politically speaking, that is. C'mon Joe-- do you advocate 2 more parcel taxes? (That's one from Jack O'Connell and another COUNTY parcel tax, courtesy of that shill for the mayor, Ramon Cortines.)

Not a whole bunch of sympathy here for our Iranian friends. I think Obama should issue a very strongly worded statement and condemn the atrocities being committed in Iran, and the violation of human rights. The condemnation should be signed by both sides of the house, and delivered to the Iranian embassy in Geneva. This would really show the Iranians that we mean business.

Also, our newly appointed ambassador to the UN should read out that condemnation on the steps of the UN.

Finally, Paul Koretz, in one of his first official duties, should propose a motion in council to condemn the violence in Iran, and call for immediate peace talks.

And I'm sure you're a MAJOR PLAYER in the political world! But go ahead. Prove my remarks wrong. Tell me why you're anxious to pay more property tax. But then again, maybe you don't even own any property, so you envy people who do....that would make sense...Ah, well--shoulda planned better.
