Citizen reports on Villar's "Snake Oil Budget Show"
Interesting Red Spot didn't post what a joke last night's budget town hall was with gang banger mayor. It wasn't about the city budget but all about LAUSD. Teachers and students crammed the place yelling and carrying signs. It was the most out of control meeting ever. You couldn't hear him talk cause of the yelling "don't lay off teachers" Only one station channel 9 showed up. The gang banger has lost his luster. It was so hostile there is now word about walk outs and riots.

This from Joseph Mailander on the "OLD GRAY HAG ON SPRING STREET" recent endorsements.
My thoughts? I don't know if Rob Greene got it right and Newton capitulated, or Newton got it right and Bob Green capitulated. I suspect the latter. But whatever happened, they got it right. Good job by an editorial page that has widely missed recently.
Three years ago, I began severely criticizing the Times editorial page. I said it should criticize elites and be the voice of the people, rather than vice versa. These endorsements reflect that sentiment. It's about time.

This about Parke Skelton.
I'm not a doubter about Parke - it takes a genius to get a dumbass like Antonio elected. I only question his scorched earth policy against his opponents. Often with a mightier than thou attitude even if his opponents are more progressive than his candidate. This is especially true with his Latino candidates. And his fundraising prowess have made it virtually impossible for any real grass root opposition - kind of ironic isn't Parke? But history is the great equalizer to those left by the side of the road. History that will dictate that the quality of life in those communites represented by all "his minority candidates" didn't really improve under Parke.

From the Capitol Weekly, 4/23/09, list of 100 top power brokers in California

Parke Skelton, SG&A Campaigns

Unlike other campaign consultants, Parke Skelton does not revel in the Sacramento power game. The Los Angeles-based Skelton is still an ideologue in a cynic’s business, taking on mostly progressive candidates and pushing back against business-friendly Democrats. His firm advises Speaker Karen Bass and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villariagosa, but for years, Skelton has relatively quietly gone about his business of taking on “good Democrats” as clients and winning political races.

LA City Budget --

The City Clowncil voted to begin eliminating positions on the rolls.

Problem is, if taken to the maximum discussed, this will aleviate something like $80 mill of what is now nearly a $1 bill deficit.

So the Mayor and Clowncil take it out solely on the employees when, in fact, they are completely responsible for the situation we're in.

I say, let's take it out on them. Recall Villaraitardo, AlarCON, and "Controller" Greuel to begin with.

Maybe Mailander was having a Red Spot moment ??It's Internet comments at MayorSam, not the freaking Rosetta Stone. If he weren't on KPFK, I would have forgotten he's even there.

But the bottom line is, he gets to pose questions directly to the Mayor, and ordinary citizens like you and I don't. Judging from the editorial columns I read, I'd say some people there have largely squandered their privilege. If you don't like the way I spell Rob Greene, tell him to write more stand-alone opinions and fewer head-in-sand-under-cover editorials.

Rob Greene is an immature random jerk who spouts off knee-jerk anti- establishment no matter what, and he's one of the reasons no one takes the editorials or Times seriously. Anymore. Even if they once did.

Whoever he endorses is going down. No Galperin (nice guy though), no Vahedi, no Trutanich. Just watch.

As for the props and measures, a blind squirrel gets a nut once in a while, but it don't take no diviner or tea leaf reader to see which way this batch is heading. Even Mother Theresa would have a hard time getting the people to tax themselves more right now.

Is that Capitol Weekly article you keep posting suppose to influence anyone's opinion about Parke?

Idealogues don't master the art of deceit.

Maybe if Parke took on a "business friendly" Democrat there could be economic democracy as well as a political democracy in those blighted communities that Parke targets. Villraigosa, Huizar, Reyes, Chu, Weis - none of these guys know the first thing about economic development but hey, at least they are politcally progressive. Making them "good democrats" in Parke's eyes. And lately the future of these blighted communites rests in those same eyes.

Rumors are rampant around City Hall that Building and Safety GM Andrew Adelman is abou to be canned; he has been seen many times at public events (most recently the LA Political Roast) drunk out of his mind...and even worse...groping any woman within 3 feet of his clamy hands! Rumors are that since he is a "lawsuit waiting to happen" the Mayor has had enough and that Andrew will be gone by June. Several women have complained...

Hi, I am new to this board. Is Andrew Adelman the portly Persian man I see around City Hall? He seems like a flirt.
