To Be Fair, It's Not Just Dykes But Jesus Too

You may remember the controversy over the City Council's approval of a special event fee waiver for something called Dyke Day.

Now, the City wants to waive the fees at an event sponsored by a large church in the San Fernando Valley.

07-1736-S1 CD 12 e. MOTION (SMITH - CARDENAS) relative to declaring the Shepherd of the Hills Fourth of July Spectacular on July 4, 2009 a Special Event (fees and costs absorbed by the City = $17,374)

At what point does it stop? I thought we were broke? We can't afford to spay and neuter the animals but we can fund pet projects?

What happened to separation of church and state?

Half of the San Fernando Valley will show up at this annual display, clearly making it a public event, even though it is privately funded and sponsored. Parking and traffic becomes impossible for at least a 3/4 mile radius around the church, requiring the city to help control the crowds. That's where the cost to the city is.

The display is all about celebrating the birth of our country, and has nothing to do with religion. The suggestion this could be a violation of the establishment clause is merit-less.

Does the City have to pay for it?

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen (removes hat and bows low with flourish):

The good Lord mayor has missed a key fact of the matter and that be to look at the sponsors of this event, some of whom might have made contributions to a sot we all know but do not love (no, not Lord Alger) who has, as they say, greased the sails to move forward.

(Looks around room with befuddled look) Oh bugger, you're not as my Haight-Asbury friends say "getting my drift." At the risk of making some sots a tad queasy follow the money Lord mayor.

Question: How you indirectly funnel public funds to a religious cause? (Looks at crew. Crew rolls eyes.) By freeing up the pieces of eight needed for the large-rumped parking control lasses that would be coming from the sponsors' treasure chest. (Looks disappointingly at crew.)

The bait-and-switch is SO the specialty of a pirate, savvy?

Cap'n Jackoff.

By "large rumped" parking control lasses, you wouldn't by any chance be referrring to the fact that many of them are African American women, would you?

Are they also "nappy headed hos" by any chance, Skipper Imus?

Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen (removes hat and bows low with flourish):

Oh bugger! The sot is of the mistaken notion that this sea captain will cry if insulted.

Sailing the seven seas as a salty captain like aye has one has the opportunity to witness many rainbows. (Tosses pink rose to Mrs. Kerfuffle)

The large-rumped lasses span the spectrum of the rainbow sots. (Crew assuredly nods in agreement) Perhaps it is your own bias that lead you to some other ill-natured assumpion. Savvy?

This is the same church that had all the No on Prop 8 signs during he election. Isn't that a violation? Shouldn't they lose their tax status for mixing politics and religion?

This is all a part of the huge rape of Porter Ranch and the Nathan Shappell disaster.

How many of our Democratic City Council members voted to fund a church that supported Prop Hate? I will be calling all the Council offices Monday and spread this to my mail list of fellow gays.

The mayor's office saw it too. Everybody saw it. It was horrifying. I know many people who had to quit there for various reasons regarding homosexuality. For example, if the kids want to volunteer in the nursery, they have to sign a paper saying they hate gays.

Shepherd of the Hills - bad, bad place.

Dudley Rutherford, Ozark Mountain Seminary School. He wants more viewers for his Sunday services. It's pathetic there.
