Mayor V in Another Celebrity Photo Op

Interesting, while the Mayor and City Controller elect Greuel made the most of this photo op, one third of the Mayor's troika was noticeably absent; Jack Weiss. Has Jack been axed from the Mayor's wish list and the new deal is the dynamic duo?

It also warms one heart to see the Mayor rolling up his sleeves and getting stuck into some hard work - except of course, you'll never see the Mayor roll up his sleeves; that would reveal the gang tattoos that he still wears out of respect to his gang banging days.

Only in LA!

The Mayor and Weiss went up to Oakland together Friday for the funeral and did their own photo op -- maybe Weiss had something else to do. Funny how if they appear together you criticize that, and if you don't that too -- figures. If the Mayor's in a photo op even alone you criticize that -- Higby sounds jealous, somehow photo ops with HIS rapper-wanna-be Saltzburg zuma dogg aren't the same. If he's not with a celebrity, you wonder why not. You people are so predictably whiny tea readers.

This clip is a week old - what's the news value exactly? Everyone is saying how handson he was so it's not just a "photo op" but you're giving him more of a commercial. I'm sure not intentionally. But sometimes when you try too hard to attack someone it backfires.

Wendy is wearing a suit and pumps to plant a tree. It would have been more appropriate if she could have dressed down just for once.

Boy, that tape made me sick. Especially when he's speaking Spanish to the kids in that computer give-a-way sequence. Doesn't he think it's imperative they learn English? I guess not! With Tony it's just all about the Mexicans, everything's gotta be for the Mexicans, or he could care less.

Try again Loon. But get it right before your arrest any day now.

Sorry Antonio,

Just as you are running for Governor, instead of running the city as mayor; look at the company the Zuma Times blog is keeping on the Alltop national news aggregate service. (Who approved THAT link?)

http://news.alltop.com (Scroll down to Zuma Times.)

http://los-angeles.alltop.com (Scroll down to LA Daily Blog) And don't worry, I took LA D B out of the BNN ranker, so it's not a scam to help my ranking, losers. It's just funny to see my blogs among these other ones. LOL!

Hey Rita you saggy old bag,

Spanish and English are equally important. But it's more important to make minorities I.E. SPANISH KIDS, proud of their heritage. Only because saggy old bags like you keep trying to make them ashemed.

Get MAV on something important you bitter old bag. What the matter? No young studs want you in their bed anymore? Who can blame them. You're old and a mean old racist to boot.

I have to agree with you 10:00. I like the way this blog acts like the mayor himself scheduled a photo op with anyone on one of his Days of Service. As if he himself planned out that day as opposed to a team of people who work for him who only work on those Days of Service!

I don't know about Weiss but I know that when Hahn was the mayor, everyone criticized the fact that he did not do enough photo ops and when they got the mayor they wanted, they criticize him for doing too many.

I think it's just bloggers though since, after all, he did just win a re-election! That makes me think the general population is fine with him and nothing will please the people who post on this blog.

And for the record, the Mayor has no gang tattoos and posting that just makes you look more stupid than you already are.

Only in LA is right! Why don't you just move the hell out of here?

For the record, I am not the other person posting about Rita but it's obvious we're on the same page.

Same with the person who posted about the mayor's lack of gang tattoos. I don't know who Loon is but he must be someone who has never seen the mayor's tattoo and all you have to do is ask him and he'll tell you about it. I know a lot of people in their 50's who got tattoos back in the 80's before they were the "in" thing to do as they are now. Most of those older people regret it, but it's really just not nice to say someone has gang tattoos when they don't.

Gregory Rodriguez over at the Times just posted how he doesn't get to see the Mayor enough, something like "Come Back Mr. Mayor, we Miss You!"

Compared to when he was first elected Rodriguez says he's almost a rare sighting: that his being seemingly everywhere at once made it seem like more of a small town.

Maybe he listened too much to those clowns over at L A Weekly, with their idiotic "11% Mayor" article claiming all he did was run around and do photo ops, in different costumes and with celebrities. Of course this blog and all those that already hated Villarraigosa seized on that as some sort of "proof" of what they'd thought.

Not that Rodriguez' ideas are gospel but he has a point: MAV should go back to who he was before the affair made him camera- shy. Stop apologizing for it just get on with where you were before. He probably would have gotten a bigger percent of the vote if he'd been out more, not necessarily with the cast of characters running against him, but just popping in everywhere from little hood things to big. That whole "you never know when and where the Mayor will turn up."

We have Ace "Hatchet Man" Smith spining cause he knows Newsom, Brown, reporters and so many more across the nation are now reading this blog. The LA Weekly had a great story on how the internet has become a powerful tool and because of activists all over the city tired of the bullshit from city hall they defeated Measure B. Well, those activists can't stand this Mayor who is never in LA. Villaraigosa had to get celebrities to attract people to his Day of Service because people aren't coming out. Word out of Northeast is no one showed up. Villaraigosa speaking Spanish shows his lack of class and Mecha crap. NO one showed it on the news like they did last year. Villaraigosa's poll numbers are in the low 30's and when the Governor election starts you can be sure that all the deal with Meruelo, Torres, Florida and the rest of the corruption will come out. You watch the candidates tell the nation how slimy Villaraigosa was in placing Measure B on the ballot and all the fixed elections in this city.

Villaraigosa is probably the worst mayor of a major American city in history.

He so turned off the voters that less than 20% of them showed up for his re-election campaign.

And of the few that did, 45% of them voted for someone else. And the other 9 opponents COMBINED didn't have 10% of his money or publicity.

Villaraigosa is WEAK and his stupid decision not to appear with the other candidates really drove down participation in the election. As a strategic move, it worked. Almost nobody knew about the election. He still won, but his pathetic results made him look far worse than expected.

Some of the media...including the editorial staff at the LA Times made idiotic predictions that Villaraigosa would get 70 or 80 % of the vote.

I laughed at them when they said that.

I wonder if the mighty and powerful LA Times feels that their "endorsement" of our wonderful Mayor was what helped him sneak past that magical 51% mark.

His minimal victory against unknown and underfunded opponents was really a career damaging event.

They're hanger ons who think they'll get someplace by kissing his ass. Weiss has never gotten so much bad publicity on this blog and others because of his association with Villaraigosa. Regardless of the truth, Antonio can feel good that there are still those posters here on the blog rationalizing the worth of the Mayor and make there execise of denial a routine.

When the Mayor abandons his interest in the city business to work on campaigning for nomination for the Governor's race, they will undoubtedly support that, too.

The 11% Mayor is not simply wishful thinking but what was supported by Tony's own documentation, his calendar, and Matt Szabo admitted the calendar copies provided to the L.A. Weekly was the correct one. This was after Tony complained about the story, saying that they had the "wrong" calendar. He's in denial, too. It's terminal narcissism.

And the poster saying "Spanish kids" might be meaning "Spanish-speaking kids" or else that would mean people from Spain. And "Spanish-speakkng kids" uaually speak English, too.

Why is it so bad to ocnsider the fact that speaking English detracts from someone's ability to have pride in his or her heritage? Who's ashamed for what, anyway? Very small minded to try to say such comments are attacks on a culture, any culture. THAT is what's shameful.

The practical thing would be to know both languages, but purposely avoiding learning English is as ridiculous since it limits opportunities, especially the immediate opportunity to excel in school.

Being stubborn, resentful and contrary from any side of the issue is not very productive, but if it makes you feel good, go ahead, continue on that basis.

You still are wrong.

If it were true that the Newsom and Brown consultants "get their information from this blog" like someone states, and that it's now a national source of "news," they'll all be in for a rude awakening.

This blog is known even by the anti- Villar writers like Jill Stewart of the Weekly as part of the very core of the "anti-Villaraigosa blogoshphere" as she called it, and you'd get a crazily skewed set of rants here.

Looking here for "information" on him is like going to PETA for a recommendation on which fur coat to buy.

BEING ABLE TO SPEAK ANOTHER LANGUAGE ISN'T THE PROBLEM IT'S THAT THE MAYOR WHO REPRESENTS LA AN AMERICAN CITY IS USING "SPANISH" AND LATINOS TO GET VOTES. WHY DOESN'T HE SPEAK "CHINESE,JAPANESE,HINDU,VIETNAMESE,KOREAN,TAGALOG" TO NAME A FEW OTHERS. THE POINT IS "ENGLISH" WAS ESTABLISHED AS THE LANGUAGE OF AMERICA NOT "SPANISH". THE LATINOS FOR ONE USE THEIR LANGUAGE AS A LINCHPIN TO NOT ASSIMILATE INTO AMERICAN SOCIETY AND PEOPLE LIKE ANTONIO KNOW THAT. THIS IS ANOTHER ISSUE WHICH COSTS ALL AGENCIES MONEY BECAUSE WE HAVE TO PRINT IN MULTIPOL LANGUAGES MANY OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS AND SIGNAGES, AS WELL AS TEACH STUDENTS WITH DIFFICULTY IN ENGLISH COMPREHENSION. WE NEED TO GET BACK TO "ENGLISH AS THE LANGUAGE".

"G" who is anonymously attacking the anonymous posters he doesn't agree with, asks why the Mayor doesn't speak Vietnamese, Hindu and Talag, "to name a few."

Good questions, "g," I think he should take up every language in the city. Except I think you mean "Tagalog" for the Filipino dialect, and there is no "Hindu" language as Hindu is a religion. Now, there is Hindi, but there also many languages in India.

Why do Greek Orthodox priests at their church in S. L A NOT speak Spanish instead of Greek, you may well ask. Why do the Russian Orthodox speak Russian? And what's with the Latin mumbo-jumbo at the western Catholic churches, that Cardinal Mahoney and his ilk hide behind to fool the Spanish- speaking peasants who he ministers to? Why do Koreans speak Korean at their churches, and not Spanish, you may well ask? You see my point, G?

I agree that English IS the common language we should all strive for, and that we're not a "bilingual society" just because Hispanics won't learn English and want "their own" culture to be equal. BUT many ethnic groups ALSO speak their native languages as a way to retain ties to their culture, religion, traditions etc. and to communicate with the old people, to pass the language down, etc.

NEITHER side in this debate is right as you're both extremists.
