Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Friday
The LA Times reports that Mayoral candidate Walter Moore picked up a check for $43,000 of your tax dollars for the City's matching funds he's qualified for. Walter may want to find a better bank as the Times mentioned the bank put an immediate hold on the funds but later releaseed $10,000. If claims on this blog and an article by Steve Lopez in the LA Times are to believed the money comes just in time for Walter who has spent all of the $200,000 he collected from supporters on hats, bumper stickers and lawn signs.
Council Member Bernard Parks has stepped down from his spot on the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan Transportation Agency after four years on the panel. Likely replacements include Council Members Tom LaBonge, Bill Rosendahl, Herb Wesson and Jose Huizar. The loss of Parks from the Board removes a decent voice of fiscal prudence in favor of free spending politicians who dominate the MTA now.
When the government witholds taxes from your paycheck every week, you are essentially giving them an interest free loan for up to a year. As well you are usually loaning them more money that what your total tax liability is and hence upon filing your tax return you receive a refund that the government has you convinced is free bonus money. It gets even worse - now State Controller John Chiang has ruled you'll get your money back when he gets around to it because the state is broke. Call Chiang and give him a piece of your mind at (916) 445-2636.
Programming changes at KABC talkradio and though the station is heavy on syndicated national programming, the latest round of alterations actually add one hour of local coverage a day including giving Doug McIntyre - who does extensive coverage of local politics - an extra hour a day as well as extending long time local host Al Rantel to a five hour shift during the evening.
George Garrigues, publisher of the Palms-Village Sun has a new book out covering the history of the eclectic Westside community. Not sure if it's another America's Suburb but Los Angeles's The Palms Neighborhood chronicles the community's start as a resort for tony 19th century Angelenos who wanted to escape the heat of Downtown.

Chiang is SO bogus. Blasts Arnold for trying to sew together some sort of budget when the democrats wont cut spending on social programs. And Arnold wants to furlough some public employees a couple days a week, but Chiang refuses to go along with it - suckng up to the unions and his likely voting base. BUT he's too happy to screw tens of millions of taxpayers, who Arnold wanted to protect from this.
Sad thing is it's Chiang hwo's managing to come out the good guy to a majority of estupidito voters. Just goes to show ya.
Not that the Republicans in this state don't totally suck, too -- always sticking it to L A like depriving us of our county gasoline "surplus" taxes to balance their budget, stiffing us on our share of every transportation fund, homeland secrity, playing games with school funds.
What a bunch of spiteful children all along, who just can't play nice with each other unless they get their own way.

The person to be appointed is Huizar. Just further proof that despite being under a DA investigation, Richard Alatorre still rules the roost in East L.A. politics. Alatorre's sister already works for Huizar - and Antonio has long been in his pocket. Is it any wonder nothing has changed in the eastside for the past 30 years. Shamless!

The only people that think Antonio is in Alatorre's pocket are you and Alatorre.
After Antonio was first elected, Alatorre went on TV and was talking how THEY were going to do this and THEY were going to do that.
The next day, Robin and Antonio took Alatorre to the wood shed, and he hasn't been in the circle since.
He's still just a con man who tries to convince you that he can get it done. Don't bet on it.
The folks that can get it done are never in the news and fly below the radar. No one sees them or hears of them very much. You know their names, but not what they do or how they do it.
Not even Saltsburg, who thinks he knows everything, and actually knows nothing. Not even Mayor Sam or his enmises, The Westside White Guy, Kevin Broderick.

Anyone who has ever been involved in real campaign knows that such things as a waste of money. They serve only to satisfy the ego of the candidate who loves to see his name in print. They can also help motivate volunteers, but Walter doesn't have any of those.
So bad decisions like this would seem to disqualify Walter as a legitimate candidate .... leaving AV as, sadly, the only choice.
Walter also bought radio time on shows such as Doug McIntyre and Kevin James who are both big boosters of Moore. Questionable no doubt.
Mayor Sam, why do you continue to trivialize Walter Moore's well-run, grass-roots campaign? (of which I'm proud to be a part) Is it because you're endorsing Zuma Dogg? If so, have the balls to announce your endorsement-- because neutral you AIN'T. Remember-- by refusing to debate Walter Moore, Villar eschews $700,000 in taxpayer-funded matching funds and that's a helluva lot more than the dollar amount Walter Moore's entitled to! Any way you look at it, Walter Moore saves the taxpayers money.
Congrats to Walter for getting matching funds money. I hope he uses it wisely. The use of money for yard signs is not very effective.
Most people still don't even know there is an election coming up.
With his Labor Union support, Antonio will finish first in the primary. It is the responsibility of the other candidates to do well and force a run-off election.
I am doing my best to finish in second place.
I say good luck to the others.
Hopefully, the best candidate will get a shot at dethroning the do-nothing Mayor.
Mr.Jennerjahn-- I've seen you on Ch.35 each time you've appeared B4 council and heard you on Doug's show and although I'm supporting Walter Moore for mayor, I applaud you. You're articulate, you have poise, perspective, and I like your viewpoints on the problems that plague us Angelenos. I wish you all the best in both your political and acting careers!

If he hasn't been in the "circle" then why is he under investigation for being an unregistered lobbyist. Antonio and Alatorre are one and the same. The only difference is that Alatorre is smarter than Antonio - even with his coke out brain - and he plays Antonio like a Fiddler on the Roof...in East L.A. this type of acitivty has become TRADITION...
When he first ran for the legislature, at one point Alarcon was posting campaign signs reading, "I am not Richard Alatorre." He felt he was being confused with then fellow City Councilman Richard Alatorre, the target of investigations who ultimately copped a federal plea and chose not to run for re-election in 1999.
Walter has some still conned.
Admire Gender-gone? Why? Because he sits here and complains about another anti-Antonio choice, rather than talking about what HE brings to the table.
Phil, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR LA? Instead of spewing your hate for the other challengers, how about telling us what you've DONE for us?
Try to see if you can not mention Walter's name in your answer.
Considering the media, I can see why many of you think people are not aware of the election or Walter Moore. I think you will be surprised to find out how many people are aware. This is not just about Los Angeles this is about America. There are people across the country getting the word out about Walter Moore. We are making contact with Los Angeles residents.
Fliers and yard signs are important. They are information which makes people aware. With the media problems, these items become even more important.
America is looking for you residents of Los Angeles to take back the city. We are counting on you!
Get the word out and VOTE FOR WALTER MOORE.

Did anyone notice in the recent Los Angeles Arbitron radio ratings that Kevin James's radio station did not even appear in the ranking of the Top 25 stations?
That's a lot of hot air being blown to not even appear in the rankings.
Stations like KNX and KFWB even made it into the Top 25.
And most of the AM talk radio stations (like the two mentioned above) got a nice ratings boost from the recent election season.
Not Kevin James though. I think he's had his shot here in L.A. and it didn't resonate locally with listeners anymore than his appearance on Chris Matthews did.
Richard Alatorres is the biggest crook, coke head, lobbyist in city hall and I agree in Antonio's pocket. None of these damn Latino politicans have done shit for their own communities. They look even worst then when they all got elected. Its the Mexican Mafia at its worst and word is the Feds are investigating big time but are waiting to make sure they have it all. Let's hope its soon as they are going city to city to arrest major politicans who have corrupted their cities..
