BREAKING NEWSUpdate: Judge David Yaffee dismissed all but one of the complaints from the Yes on B crowd; that the Solar 8 could not say there were no public hearings. The judge also denied the request for court costs against the Solar 8. Read more at RonKayeLA.
This just in - the judge in the case of the Mayor's Yes on Measure B team - the one that sought to sue Ron Kaye and other local activists for their ballot argument against a controversial and "flawed" DWP solar initiative - tossed out the suit. The judge found no merit in the Mayor's team's argument and the Solar 8's ballot statement will stand - telling the truth to voters about this alarming boondoggle.
Big feather in the cap for Ron Kaye and his Solar 8 and their legal counsel, candidate for City Attorney Noel Weiss.
Been a good week so far for the people, no doubt!

If I could vote for the office of Mayor of Los Angeles, I would certainly vote for Zuma Dogg because he could do absolutely nothing worse to the city of Los Angeles than Tony has done and it also could come to pass that he would actually do better as Mayor than Tony has done during the 11% of the time he worked as Mayor.

Why is it mean spirited? I'm calling to task the bigger blogs as well as the local fishwraps and electronic fishwraps to task for not covering the important issues and spending so much time on silliness. Mike Hernandez has a job with the city because, despite all of his faults, he did what few politicians ever do -- he admitted guilt, sought treatment, and took his punishment.
Noel Weiss took time from his campaign for City Attorney to take on this case on behalf of the Neighborhood Council folks who launched the fight.
Walter Moore dismissed it, and apparently had better things to do.
Noel Weiss deserves our support for standing up for the little guys.
Expect an appeal.

Noel Weiss "took time from his busy campaign for City Attorney" to do this? Please, it's the only attention he's gotten and it was free -- he couldn't have paid for this. Even though Ron Kaye says on his blog that the judge made up his mind before the arguments started, and that Noel Weiss could barely get a word out because the judge argued it for him. -- The judge that Ron Kaye's supporters alleged was crooked and would be biased in favor of the measure.
However, since so few people read the detail of stories like this, Noel's ratings will shoot up with the folks on blogs like this and who support zuma, which are still less than even those who know about Walter Moore from Doug McIntyre and other talk shows. However his fellow candidate slate are even more unknown and unlikely to win than Noel Weiss -- instead of that lady for controller, even Abby Diamond would have been better.
Y'all are just under a delusion that any of this means name recognition to the average voter, but Kaye's group, Walter Moore and the others do get to write their opposition to ballot measures and let the voter sort it out, like Eric wanted in the first place.

Here's a quick civics lesson.
Before both sides meet with the judge, as they did today, they submitted their written arguments and supporting documents so the judge could read them before the hearing.
It could be argued that Noel Weiss did such a good job preparing those papers that the judge was convinced of the No on B side before he walked into the court room.
You know you're in good shape when the judge spends his time questioning the other side's attorney, giving him an opportunity to sway the judge's decision.
If Weiss had not done this, the judge would not have had before him the No on B side.

Where is Walter Moore?
He's lost. The only constituency he has are some people on this blog and that's why he spends so much time on it when he should be raising money or building an army of supporters.
But now he's losing those on this blog who liked him because when it came down to David v. Goliath on the Prop. B court fight, he pouted and deserted the people because he wasn't selected to write this (another) ballot argument.
Seems like nobody on this blog is supporting Walter either.
It's time again for The Bottom Line.
Here goes:
(1) This was a major victory for the Solar 8 and Ron Kaye. Ron, how we wish you ran for Mayor. (We mean in 2009).
(2) The Home Depot "victory" means nothing. The reason for it was not the intrepid band of activists. Home Depot laughed at them. The real motivator was the economy. Home Despot is closing stores nationwide, and ceasing all new openings. Just the facts.
(3) Some idiotic posters need to get off the ad hominem attacks. Bottom line: Higby created this blog and stuck with it. It is immensely successful. Do you realize how hard that is?
Moore and Dogg are nonentities. Distractions. Not worth the pixels.
And those who comment on appearances/weight are just schoolyard bullies who need to grow the F up.
(4) This blog needs to reduce the daily posts (which it has done lately, with admirable results) and throw up some stories on the races in this city. No, not for Mayor. For City Attorney, Council 5, and Controller.

2:03 AND 6:22, Mike Hernandez kept on the payroll as CM because he played out the situation not as a perpetrator of a crime, but as a victim to drugs and the rest.
The City Council did not come down on him for 2 possible reasons, asisde from whatever sympathy statements the dispensed: (1.) "There but for the grace of God go I" train of thought, that it's their buddy and a tough job- plus he was more of a rarity back then, a "Latino", i.e., A "Mexican" office holder, and some deference on that account probably was considered appropriate so as not to boot him out, and (2.) Mike might have had some knowledge of skeletons in the closets of others that would be better left undisturbed by leaving Mike alone and going along with the charade.
If Mike admitted anything, it sure wasn't that he effed-up his job and made we Latinos embarrased for his stupidity.
Having political connections and networking in politics is the equivalent to having a life-preserver when the ship goes down. Mike should not count his time as a City Councilmember as anything noble or honorable; he should have resigned.
SAME COMMENTS for ROCKY DELGADILLO, BUT Latino politicians are a dime a dozen now and there are some good ones but most have that FABIAN NUNEZ-complex where they heap spending on themselves as some sort of self-validation.
Obviously FABIAN NUNEZ is slime as well as many of his friends, feeding at the public trough and using that to get access to private toughs for further feeding, all due to holding a public office.
In CD-14 (I knew Mike a little back then and he was an O.K. guy but he still should have resigned had he any honor.)
And I add: NO ONE ON COUNCIL will EVER resign from that job with nearly $200,000.00 yearly salary at stake- make the pay about $50,000.00 and it would be better ALL AROUND, and still they would be overpaid.
Mike Hernandez ran into some serious problems while in office. Even he acknowledges that.
But Mike Hernandez, even with problems, gave 89% while our Mayor gives 11%. Hernandez has a number of important accomplishments during his time in office and most of them were very oriented to doing what was right for his constituents.
One example: Hernandez and his staff (including Ed Reyes at the time) worked tirelessly for the Blue Line extension to Pasadena (now the Gold Line). (And yes, they were not the only ones to make it happen but they were key from the City of Los Angeles) I saw them at hours and hours of construction authority and public meetings -- working to bring the project to fruition but sensitive to community preferences to safety, aesthetics, and station locations.
The memories of some important accomplishments fades quickly, but Hernandez secured many victories for his constituents that dwarf stuff underway by some council offices today.
Ed Reyes worked for Mike Hernandez?
Damn, that explains a LOT, including why you can't understand a single word reyes says. He must be storing Hernandez's drugs in his mouth.
