Jamiel Shaw and Jamiel's Law Information...

If at first you don't succeed, keep on fighting! That's our goal. We're still focused on Jamiel's Law - City Version and we are working on Jamiel's Law - County Version and Jamiel's Law - State Version.

One thing for sure, it's criminal the way the City handled the signatures. They didn't care enough to protect the Jamiel's Law Petitions and secure them in a safe place! We weren't prepared mentally for all the ups and downs the City put us through. Although it's easier said then done, we do plan on being more professional and not as emotional.

The next court date for the one charged with murdering my nephew, Jamiel Shaw, II, is January 28, 2009 @ 9:00am. Mark your calendar and join us if you can! The District Attorney's Office is supposed to decide if they are going to ask for the death penalty or life without the possiblity of parole. For more information visit www.JamielsLaw.com and click on "Calendar of Events".

On February 24, 2009 @ 9:30am, we will be heading back to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. Our goal this time is to get 3 of the 5 Supervisors to put Jamiel's Law - County Version, on the next L.A. County Election. Let's pack the room. We will post the wording on Jamiel's Law - County Version within the next few weeks.

The National Association for Equal Justice in America (NAEJA), will be hosting a Mayoral Candidate Forum on Saturday, February 7, 2009. For additional information you can call their National Office @ 310.608.5878 or visit www.Jamielslaw.com and click on "Calendar...". Let's pack the room!

Lastly, what's up with the Zine's Motion? According to Dennis Zine's Chief Legislative Deputy, Brian Perry, "Nothing". Councilman Zine promised that January, 2009, we would have documentation regarding the LAPD Gang Unit and how they are targeting illegal alien gangs.

Brian stated that Councilman Weiss did not schedule a date for the hearing so far. In addition, he stated that the Los Angeles Police Department did not turn in any reports. It's still early in the month, but we do expect the Councilman to keep his promise and follow-up on "his" motion. If you have questions too, call Zine's office @ 213.473.7003.

God Bless You and We Thank You!

Not that politicians keep their words or their promises, but Dennis did make guarantees on several radio shows about some documents being done and having another hearing in January.

What's as important as voting out Villaraigosa is ensuring that you do not vote for JACK Weiss for City Attorney. NOEL Weiss would be good. JACK Weiss would be a disaster for anyone who supports jamiel's law.

7:00 AM - Hate crimes prosecution is only for white people, as they are the only people in this world that can be racist/bigoted.

My heart continues to bleed for the Shaw family along with families of all victims of gang violence, as well as random homicide and violent robbery. But maybe Zine is backing out because the way this thing has been handled just showed how ill- advised it was from the start, and how unsuited the Shaws are to trying to force elected officials and our Chief of Police into changing public policy to suit their naive reasoning.

First, the tragic murder of Jamiel had nothing to do with LAPD or the city, but he was released by the County Jail, under Sheriff Baca's domain, in conjunction with an officer and detectives under County DA Steve Cooley - all of whom just believed that Espinoza was born in the USA like he claimed, no check.

Or rather, no time to check, because until very recently, Baca did not have permission from the County Supervisors (mainly Molina and maybe Burke) to send for ID checks on inmates when booked, only when released, at which point there was no time to get back any info from the feds. So this tragedy already had that outcome, pressing to run checks on prisoners WHEN BOOKED == I believe Bratton wants that for the city jail (a temp facility) too, and that IS a legit area for you to press him and the city on. Hard to believe that it took til now to make this obvious, simple change, so that illegals can be ID'd before it's too late and they're back on the streets.

But continuing to blame Bratton/ the city for this murder as Walter Moore still does is just stupid. (Zine was heard saying just that on Doug McIntyre not long ago too, that changing SO40 per his measure would have prevented this murder, and maybe since then, someone's pointed out to him how dumb and irresponsible a statement that is.)

It's also embarrassing for you to claim that the City Clerk just threw out or allowed to be stolen, thousands of signatures that would have put the "law" on the ballot. When you make assertions like that you force even Zine to disassociate from such a group.

And then none of you or Moore seem to grasp that racial profiling OR (to defect it) requiring us ALL to show ID to cops without cause, is a huge, huge setback in civil rights. That's what they did under the worst of Russian Communism or Nazi Germany, Italy or Japan, and it would make our cops Gestapo, turning back progress that Bratton made in terms of trust. Not to mention we can't afford to police our city as we'd all like, so we can't afford to turn cops into ICE enforcers.

We can let the city/ LAPD know we want them to consistently and aggressively turn illegal criminals over the ICE, and pressure ICE/ the feds to act.

And your calling attention to the huge monies spent on jailing such illegals instead of deporting (though they come right back usually so deportation can serve as a "get out of jail card") and the tragic cost in human lives, is an important goal. Keep focused.

The Shaw Family is not the problem.

The problem is, we have "Elected Officials", who are silent on illegal alien gangs.

That's a BIG problem for this city.

Until we know where the City Clerk stored those petitions and how safe they were we have every reason to believe they were stolen.

I don't think DA Cooley is going to add a hate crime. Chicken.

It's obvious that it was a hate crime! These illegal gangs target blacks and the facts are in. He had "BK" on his neck which many say means black killer.

Why Cooley is not adding a hate crime is beyond understanding. Even Sheriff Baca said the Jamiel Shaw murder was a hate crime.
