Do You Hear That Train A-Comin'?
Mayor Villaraigosa isn't too pleased with the MTA's recent projections as to when his long hoped for "Subway to the Sea" will be built. If the calculations are correct, the Mayor will be 78 when this line takes on it's first passenger.The MTA also listed completion dates for a number of other hoped for projects including the Expo light rail line to Santa Monica and a we could use it now light rail line along the 405 from the Valley to the Westside.
For fans of that service, you're looking at a long way out. That train will first roll in 2038 when Villaraigosa hits his 85th birthday, Gen X actor Elijah Wood will be a few years away from Social Security and Hannah Montana's 16 year old Miley Cyrus will be pushing 50.

We need to thank Gloria Molina who sits on MTA board because the Mayor wanted to take money from Boyle Heights security guard gates to use in another part of the city. Molina fought hard with some of the other board members to vote against Antonio. Yes, he could careless whether people in Boyle Heights had the security of guard gates going down when the Gold Line went through the community. Interesting no newspaper reported that fact.
Gloria Molina is a fat pig who hates the westside and would have voted against the westside extension of the subway anyway.
She AND Gloria Romero on the state level have opposed anything that would finally, after decades of obstruction (by both westside bluehair NIMBYs AND Eastside haters AND Inland Empire westside/ metro haters like Antonovich/ Knabe) build the line to extend the Red Line where studies decades ago showed it shojld have been built in the first place.
To even claim that Molina is fighting something that's logically warranted by traffic studies/ ridership/ much bigger=picture needs (in terms of what L A needs to finally take its place as a world city with something approaching more than a comically fractured and skeletally useless mass transit system) just because she's mad over some guard rails not going up in HER district only shows why she's unfit to sit as a Supervisor. This woman barely graduated high school, is so openly arrogant in meetings and imperious in her dealings, you have to wonder why the Supes don't have the term limits and public scrutiny that city officials do.
For all that he's bashed as MeCHa and whatever, for the Mayor to be looking at the city as a whole and not just favoring Latino Boyle Hts. like Molina does is a feather in his cap. And if his sucking up to Obama and other national pols will help us get the matching funds to build this system faster (the feds insisted L A show local support, by something like this Measure R) so much the better. Let the little EverReady Rabbit guy run around and do his thing, let him get in a photo op if it serves L A's purposes).
Shouldn't huge men like you not be expressing public affection for girls a third of their age?

Why should Mayor Villar steal from the entire Metro sales tax fund that the entire poplulation of the COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES pays into, which is much greather than the amount that the city of los Angeles pays, and yet recieves no benifits or little crumps the Mayor midget wants to pass out.
Mayor Villar just wants to be able to say he built the subway to the ocean to run for Govenor. We all know that Obama wont offer him a position in Washinton. If Bacerra,Richardson Didn't pass the mustard just like Fabian and Allatorre neither will the Midget.
He should be happy if he will qualify to ride ACCESS Service by the time his subway to the ocean is completed.
He will be using VIAGRA, and POLYGRIP for his dentures and be able to give a shitty gum job to his metro sexual Febian.
Will someone please try and post the MTA meeting where Antonio fought against giving the money for the Boyle Heights security gates to another area of town and how he got booed. I think it was in November.
You forgot the column for "subway to the sea (Santa Monica)", which was the original promise of Prop R.
