Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Tuesday

Strange time for politicians and urine lately.  Mayor Villaraigosa has debuted toilets without water, a City Councilmember from New Jersey has eliminated the toilet altogether.  Steve Lipiski, a 44 year old Democratic Councilman from Jersey City allegedly urinated from a nightclub balcony on a group of churchgoers and was arrested Friday evening.  Lipiski has not admitted to the act though Sunday he declared he was swearing off alcohol.

This is one of the reasons we usually oppose big government spending bond issues.  On election day voters approved Proposition J which adds another $3.5 billion in taxpayer funded debtfor construction projects by the Los Angeles Community College District despite the fact that the District mis-managed the funds raised under it's last bond.  Now that J has passed, Ron Kaye reports that Community College trutees Kelly Candaele and Nancy Pearlman are holding seperate fundraisers at the posh LA City Club with a minimum contribution of $1000.  Who will be showing up for breakfast? The contractors who want to get a chunk of that $3.5 billion of course.

The fantasy that the LA River is actually a river continues.  The big issue is whether or not the river is "navigable." I am sure the "Michael Higby hates rivers" haters will come out in force but folks, it's a flood control channel.  Before that it was a little creek that overflowed and flooded horribly during the occasional rain storms Southern California gets.  In prior years, devastating floods destroyed many LA communities until the Army Corps of Engineers built Southern California's amazing flood control system.  Beyond just indulging silly fantasies, the bigger concern is that potential for massive fraud, waste, abuse when it comes to taxpayer dollars being sought for "river" development and the impact on private property near the river.

Gawker to Obama: No Villaraigosa

For a writer at a New York gossip blog, Gawker's Alex Pareene seems to have a strong opinion that Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa should not be advising the president-elect. But then, the site's new managing editor is former Angeleno Gabriel Snyder, recently of W here and Variety before that. Snippet:

God, let's hope that his role in the Obama Administration is limited to that photo-op, because his success thus far is due mostly to how much the LA press sucks and the fact that no one out east pays attention to left coast politics. Did you hear about his sexy Telemundo Affair? Maybe you did, and forgot about it, or forgot the details, because who cares about what the mayor of Los Angeles does?

Villaraigosa is precisely the kind of telegenic useless Democrat who can get David Hasselhoff and Natalie Cole to play his mayoral inauguration and who then spends his term gallivanting around the world building recognition and support for his causes without having any causes beyond promoting himself.

The history of the Los Angeles River makes for a fascinating read, especially the accounts of the river overflowing its banks, and flooding both downtown Los Angeles, and the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys while carving itself a new river channel. Very few people, I've discovered, know that the L.A. River used to empty into Santa Monica Bay.

There's too many people in Los Angeles who think that tearing out the concrete and returning the river to its natural state will solve its problems. What they fail to realize is that their solution will place the residents of Los Angeles and other cities at risk of suffering death, destruction, and property damage; as was the case before the voters of Los Angeles County approved a bond measure to channelize the river in its present state.

A few of our councilmembers operate under the false illusion that the City of L.A. has jurisdiction over the river. They should have studied the history of the river before making that assumption.

On Ron Kaye LA:

Caruso's "decision against running leaves Walter Moore as the leading challenger and the lightning rod for the broad discontent over the mayor's performance in office and the clout of special interests at City Hall."

No mention of Zuma Dog. Some candidate. Some smell.

This is a outrageously funny, from Mutt Dog's fundraising email:

"Make sure you include your address, occupation and employer in the PayPal message field. $1000 limit."

$1000 from a single contributor? Zuma won't get $1000 from everyone combined. Do they drug test for the job of Mayor?

This is interesting...

Just as soon as Rick Caruso says he's not going to run, Zuma Dogg files his papers as he said he was, all of a sudden Deming Hates Zuma shows up on Mayor Sam spouting all kinds of anti-ZD stuff but more importantly whines that Zuma will "cause Walter to lose."

It's just interesting to me. The timing seems a bit coincidental.

I'm hardly Walter.

In the meantime, tell us whether or not you post anonymous comments on this blog Higby.

The answer is that you do. Right buddy?

The only thing suspect around here is your failure to say Yea or Nay about it. The answer is that you do post as anonymous. You might also post under a name, such as Heather.

But you most certainly post anonymously. Just admit it so we can move on to other things. Don't take your embarrassment out on Walter, and don't try to throw a red herring for my name, address and serial number.

The issue is whether you will admit that you post here as Anonymous and registered names.

Deming,

Your priorities are all screwed up. You need to be concerned with some of the issues raised in this Hotsheet as well as other items the Mayor Sam bloggers have brought you and not what Zuma Dogg does or who posts anonymously.

If you're really worried Zuma Dogg is going to best Walter for votes then you need to get out of your bedroom, change out of your pajamas and go campaign for Walter. He has a fundraising deadline coming up, maybe you can raise some cash for him.

Oh alright DHZ you guessed it. You're right!

I post ALL the comments on Mayor Sam. I'm Mayor Sam. I'm Heather. I'm Drinking with Tony. I'm Don Quackers. I'm Zuma Dogg. I'm Joe B. I'm Jack Hoff. I'm Stephen C. Foster. I'm Walter Moore. I'm Amy. I'm even you genius.

Now are you happy?

For the record, Michael Higby is not me. Could we be any different?

You're lying Amy. Oh wait, I'm lying. I'm Amy! Oh my! Anything less for DHZ would be less than zero!

You sound very evasive mon ami.

What is best is that you are selectively allowing comments here now, even though there is no vulgarity or slander.

When I pointed out that you are have consistently evaded the question, you don't allow the post.

Allow this comment and I'll let the matter drop.

DHZ,

I am quite concerned that you have become way too obsessed with Zuma Dogg and Mayor Sam. I think you need to get out and take a walk so this will be my last comment to you.

All of your comments have been approved; if one of the other moderators didn't approve a comment of yours I'll leave it to them to comment if they choose.

In the meantime, you better get back to the campaign before Zuma Dogg takes all the votes!

Look here fatboy. I barely mentioned Zuma Saltsberg today. You are the one trying to divert attention from the issue of your running comments disingenuously.

If you lose your credibility, the blog loses credibility.

You have made comments to people in emails, and have posted the same comments verbatim as anonymous.

The odds of that happening once, forget about more than once, are impossible.

That's the bottom line. Don't suggest it's about Walter or Zuma or Don Q. or anything else.

Your coyness and snarkiness about the issue show everyone what the deal is.

Now go honor your pledge to not comment. I'd tell Saltsburg the same thing, except that he probably has business negotiations going on with Cafe Princessa.

DHZ,
Beating a dead horse by continuing to post the same stupid comments/accusations over and over is boring and grounds for deletion in my book. I deleted your one comment. I had hoped you would take the hint. If MS wants to approve your comments he can do so. I'll just let them exist in the nether zone.

And just so you know, I, Joe B am really Mayor Sam on Tues, Thurs, &
Sundays. Also, holidays, and during
solar storms. Sometimes I forget to take my medication and I start to believe that I am Anonymous, a disturbing realization.

That's very funny from someone WHO POSTS AT LEAST TWO ANTI PROP 8 STORIES A DAY, AND AT LEAST 100 STORIES ON HOW DUMB SARA PALIN IS.

Well, he's not alone; we all pretty much have had it with the self-promoting vagrant who lives off his beggings.

Now he thinks he has found a way to increase his take, by being a "candidate".

He has no chance and all you do is waste time with him.

Let him go to his own blog and bore people, that is, if anyone ever visits it.

What's up with these folks who are having a personality disorder?

It reminds me of the old TV show titled, "I've Got A Secret," wherein the host would boom over a microphone, "WILL THE REAL (insert name here) PLEASE STAND UP!"

Stephen Foster, YOU of all people shouldn't be complaining about personality disorder. You post under FIVE different names, at least.
