"It's Bad You Know"
R.L. Burnside spreading the gospel:
The Misery ...
-GM needs money now, or else. GM is in such dire financial straights that it needs to line up a federal aid package before president-elect Barack Obama takes office in January, the automaker's chief executive said Monday.
-Circuit City pulls the plug on 155 stores, files bankruptcy.
- Los Angeles based Security Pacific Bank has been shut down by the Feds. FDIC now calling the shots.
-The Mailman has left the building. Postal Service announces 40,000 layoffs, first time in history.
But it's not all bad...
-Starbucks' Profits Down 97%. In contrast, Beer is sitting pretty!
-Russian Mafia May Profit from Bad Economy. See, it's all in your attitude! The glass is half full, not half empty!
And of course, Misery loves anyone that keeps it real, and can actually make a website that tracks the pain!

Hey gas is down to under $2.50 a gallon.
Anyway no way in hell should we give a bailout to the auto industry.
I heard some pundit on Fox saying we need to give them a bailout because they support so many things like the Grammys, the arts, and other stuff.
I'm like excuse me? I have to fund that?
The US automakers are in trouble due to their incompetence. The foreign car makers have figured out how to make cars profitably in the US. Let GM sink. It might make a mess but in the end the market will correct it and new American companies will rise up.
For example, Tesla Motors is building some great green vehicles and is doing it all with private money. Yes, the models they sell right now are on the high price end but they will come out with a lower priced model soon. As demand increases (and I hear that folks want these cars bad) the prices will come down. It seems to be a quality product.

It runs on compressed air.

Give them the money but we the people ought to demand that they cease making any more Yukon's, Surburbans, huge personal pick ups, or anything that uses less than 25 miles a gallon gas, and demand they start making replicas of 48, 49,50 51, Chevy's.
With lots of real chrome, two tone color upon demand, straight six engine only, that you and some homies can change out on a Sat AM and then drink a case of beer and eat a dozen Slim Jims for lunch.
This would be real progress.

DQ, if you're anti-SUV, you better leave mine alone. Mine gets between 28-30 mpg city; 35-40 highway, and it's American-made.
To improve gas mileage on SUV's, not only good maintenance is required, but the way a person drives has a lot to do with how to improve gas mileage.

The Board of Governors in the U.S.P.S. needs to stop voting itself End-of-Year bonuses. Every single postage increase has resulted in increased bonuses for the Board, and no improved postage equipment or salary increases for employees.
Their (the Postal Service employees') Health Care package is terrible, and their Dental Care package is worse; none of the revenue generated by postage increases has resulted in improved Health Care packages for USPS employees.
Talk to a mail carrier and ask him or her about their benefits. It's shocking!
