Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Monday
Walter Moore notes that Mayor Villaraigosa has opted not to participate in the City's campaign finance reform program and will not accept matching funds for his campaign. Each candidate who participates in matching funds is required to debate and hence opting out the Mayor will not be required to debate Moore. Moore's contention is that were the Mayor to debate him, the Mayor would lose the debate and those who watch the debate will prefer Moore. Of course that depends on how many voters actually watch the debates.
Just days after voters approved a number of new taxes and new bond indebtedness, the City Council has placed a $3 billion bond on the March ballot to pay for solar electricity generating panels on the roofs of public and other buildings. At some point piling on the debt has to stop. The solar industry is just startig to take off and the market is responding. Not only is this tremendous waste of money but it's yet another pork barrel boondoggle set to direct taxpayer funds to favored special interests. Of course voters will fall for the trap of voting for this particularly when the city, unions and other special interests will be funding the campaign in favor of it.
Changing demographics in the San Fernando Valley have shifted the region from one perceived to be a bastion of conservative voters to a Democratic leaning territory. San Fernando Valley voters selected Barack Obama for President at a higher rate than that statewide. At the same time, San Fernando Valley Blacks and Latinos voted yes on the Proposition 8 Same-Sex Marriage Ban at higher rates than they did in other parts of the state.

Its unbelievable the stupidity of these city council morons. the entire nation is in crisis with the economy and these idiots get a raise, wasting $40 million on elephant exhibit for ONE elephant, placed this solar bond again WITH NO NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL INPUT, allow DWP top management to make over $200,000 and could careless about the average resident in this city. Let's hope their KARMA comes after them. SHAMEFUL SHAMEFUL IDIOTS.

Love the graphic Mayor Sam.
If Doug McIntyre were making it, though, he I wouldn't have included me... a picture of Walter.
You've heard of the Bradley Effect. This time, it's gonna be called the Villar effect. When people get to the poll and see "Zuma Dogg" on the ballot, and switch their vote in the booth.
BETTER MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE ZUMA DOGG IN YOUR RESEARCH POLLS, OR YOU ARE GOING TO BE BLIND-SIDED.

Aw Hellz To The Yeah!!!
Doug McIntyre just mentioned that Caruso wasn't running, so it is up to people like Walter Moore and Zuma Dogg to take down Doucharigosa. (I think Doug called him "Villaraigosa".)
Doug even mentioned on the air, that he just got a cranky email from Zuma Dogg, cause he didn't mention my name as a candidate in the previous segment.
THANKS, BRO!

What kind of a sentence is this, Stinky?
"If Doug McIntyre were making it, though, he I wouldn't have included me... a picture of Walter."
If you want to be Mayor, you have to be able to write coherent sentences and to shower daily.
Spencer Martin said:
I want to know if Dave "Zuma" Saltsburg will clean himself up before the debate.
This is a legitimate question. If he is going to present himself as a viable candidate, he can't go to the debate with the ski cap and terrorist glasses, unshaven and unshowered.
If he does, he is just going to syphon votes away from the more presentable candidates.
Not that Dave isn't entertaining. He's very entertaining and interesting. But the other presentability part is very important.
JustSayAmy said:
One of my classmates works at a vintage clothing store, zuma dogg. If you need a suit, tie and shoes for the debate, she can hook you up!
I can also bring you as a guest on my gym membership to shower & shave before appearances.

Spencer - Let Zuma be Zuma.
If he got rid of the hat, glasses, etc. he wouldn't be Zuma Dogg.
That's just like Republican candidates who try to run as Democrats. If we want Democrats we'd vote for Democrats.
If Zuma becomes Walter Moore then what's the difference?
Michael Higby said:
Amy are you offering to shower with Zuma? Bring your loofah!
Spencer Martin said:
Higby your are being childish to think that Zuma's involvement isn't going to distract people from what we need: the best likely vote getting challenge versus Antonio.
People outside of our environment will be distracted by the zd circus and he is undoubtedly going to try and cut walter down. He is already doing so here. We cannot afford to have anyone doing anything other than going against the status quo.
Taking the hat and glasses off of zd leaves us with a pungent kook.
I take it that you are also okay with having the half dozen actors who are in the race, too. Or the meat cutter or contractor, right?
So much for your wanting us to be rid of Antonio. If you are in favor of a circus, you are in favor of the status quo.
Spare us the chatter about how it's healthy to have all voices heard. No, it's healthy to hear the voices of people who are clean, well presented and informed to be heard. ZD is informed about half the time, completely misinformed the other half of the time, and completely unclean and unpresentable all of the time.
If that is good with you, then send Antonio a congratulatory note now.

Spencer,
Let's be real here. As much as I would like to see the 11% Mayor go, Walter will at best get 10-15% of the vote. Study the election returns, for Christ sake this City is super liberal and they're not going to elect a white, conservative, anti-illegal immigration guy over Tony. Just on resources alone it's an uphill battle. Even the Valley voted 75% for Obama.
That being said lets get some issues out there and if takes a circus to do it, see you under the big top.

8:33am,
I am thinking about whether to ditch the hat and glasses at some point. BUT, I probably WILL keep it. Cause it's Zuma Dogg who is running, as a mere extention of what I have already been doing. And a lot of people seem to respond favorably to ZD with the hat and glasses (they have gotten OVER it and accept me that way).
THE REASON I am at least being OPEN to losing the hat and glasses (sometimes) is because of the feel of things, this weekend, as I started to gather signatures.
I know there are a lot of people who would like me BETTER without the hat and glasses...so if it would help the cause, I'm probably ready to do that, at this point.
BUT, you need to get off this ZD in a hat and glasses will take away from Walter's chances of winning.
He ain't winning. I am basing this on my background as a market research director in radio.
So stop hollering that noise, or you'll put me into ZD vs Walter mode, and you'll put me on a Walter offensive attack. And it won't help his chances, either.
THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE CHANCE FOR WALTER AND ZUMA DOGG TO USE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO RAISE AWARENESS THAT THE CITY IS UNDER ATTACK, AND WE CAN GET THE MESSAGE OUT TO THE PUBLIC!!!
And the fact is, Zuma Dogg has attracted more media attention than Walter Moore, or anyone else in the City (in the politcal arena)...and it seems like ZD will continue to get my shots in the media as the season rolls on.
I haven't heard Walter say a thing about anything besides S.O. 40.
So when he is in the media, only talking about that single issue...
ZUMA DOGG can talk about everything that I have blogged and commented about over the past two and a half years.
IS THERE ANY CANDIDATE WHO IS MORE TRANSPARENT REGARDING WHERE THEY STAND ON ISSUES?
So stop being a crybaby...Zuma Dogg ain't gonna prevent Walter from being mayor...Demographics and a couple million dollars between them will.
KCAL 9 and KNBC 4 have already had me on their news shows for political analysis BEFORE I was a candidate. If they have me back on again, I can blast all the issues you are complaining about.
MORE PUBLIC SERVICE, LESS LIP SERVICE!
SUMMARY: Although Zuma Dogg is open to the idea of losing the hat and glasses and wearing a nice suit to mainstream things on a mass basis for the mayoral election.
BUT, I'll probably just keep it the same. I'll have to see how things feel, and play it as it comes.
AND MAYOR SAM, if I DID lose the hat and glasses, I wouldn't just be another Walter. The hat and glasses aren't what's singing like Steve Perry and showing up at council meetings, or blogging. But again, I'm not TRYING to change, but if I had to lose the hat and glasses to take it to the next level at some point, I wouldn't be immature and resist.
PS:Dear Extra-Crybaby who said, "If you want to be Mayor, you have to be able to write coherent sentences."
(It's called a typo, crybaby. Sorry you couldn't figure that out. A typo does not make on in-coherent. You should read up on your Deming.)
Michael Higby said:
ZD - what I meant is that IF they made you lose the Hat and Glasses it's like they're trying to make you into another Walter or David or whoever.
I say be ZD. You are correct that ZD is what you do and say but the hat and glasses are part of what makes people recognize ZD. When I saw you with your hat and glasses off I didn't even know who you were.
Spencer Martin said:
I am formally saying that the race is over, if ZD thinks he "was on KNBC for political analysis."
Sherry Bebitch Jeffe is on for political analysis. A USC poli-sci professor.
You were on, with three other no-names, to comment on something, and got a sentence......a single sentence, on the air.
If yoou cleaned up, stopped the screaming and put on a suit and tie, you might actually have some credibility. But you called every member of city council "jackasses" last week. Forget the fact that they are jackasses. You just can't do that type of thing without expecting that people are going to look at you like an oddball.
Using the word "ain't" a lot ISN'T a good idea either.
I think you are a very entertaining person and a completely dedicated public servant. But at the same time, I think you are the cause's own worst enemy because you offset your good with a circus mentality.
If you think you can win with that, that's great. But don't take Walter down with you at the same time.
Good luck hawking cafe princess or whatever it's called and your shea margarine.
JustSayAmy said:
I think calling people crybaby isn't going to help advance your campaign zuma! You don't see Walter Moore or Bruce Darian doing that do you?
Michael Higby said:
Hey Spencer -
Not sure why you think Walter will lose because of ZD (if he loses he will lose because of Walter) but it's a fascinating piece of analysis.
Speaking of "analysts" you might want to search Sherry Bebitch Jeffe in our archives. You'll see past analysis of her "spot on" (not) analysis of LA politics. She doesn't even know what blogs are out there other than WWG.
Zuma Dogg said:
just say amy,
don't worry about advancing my campaign. i don't do anything differently because i'm running. i don't see walter and bruce doing a lot things. SO WHAT. you are going to vote for Walter. so why are you trying to give me advice? go have an expresso soda.
Unknown said:
Jim, or whoever was complaining about the use of the term, "political analysis."
I pick up the phone and say, "Hello." The person on the other line says, "Hi, I'm calling from (Blank) News. "We need someone to come in for 'political analysis."
So I agreed to come in. I'm sorry for using the word THEY used. It must have been something else. AND they also used to word, "expert", thank you very much (not to make your head explode.)
GET OVER IT!
I'VE DONE MY HOMEWORK AND PAID THE DUES TO SING THE BLUES. And some folks at a TV news departpment used the words, "political expert" and "political analysis." I'M JUST SORRY YOU CAN'T HANDLE THAT.
Next time, I'll be sure to say, "Well gee, I'm just a no-name. (Even though KNBC put me in their news promo. I guess they were looking for no names.)
JustSayAmy said:
I guess you don't want the offer to help you properly suit up then. Whatever. Your nastiness says it all.
You even assume that I'm voting for Walter, when I was just suggesting that a shower, suit and tie is what you need. If you don't want that free help, fine.
Maybe you can wear the 20 year old FRANKIE SAYS CHOOSE LIFE shirt from your high school days. That will certainly help bring in some votes.
Higby, you are confusing Ms. Jeffe's accuracy on things versus how zuma dog presents himself. The point is that the terrorist glasses, ski cap, and lack of hygiene isn't going to get Mr. and Mrs. Neighborhood's vote.
I'm talking about the polish that is required to go with know-how.
We'll see how things turn out.
Michael Higby said:
Amy I trust your political judgment even less than Sherry Bebitch Jeffe.
Unknown said:
2:29,
Take your polish and polish your ass! We do thing "ZUM-LITO'S WAY" ROUND HERE! YOU DON'T KNOW ME OR WHAT I AM ABOUT. WHO CARES WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT YOUR DUMB POLISH. No one who has ever thanked me has complained about the color of the ski cap. GO VOTE FOR SOMEONE ELSE AND SHUT UP! How do you like THEM apples, smart stuff? "Blah, blah, blah...polish...know how...blah, blah, blah.
You're probably one of those crybabies on the playground who used to say, "Nobody cares what you know, until they know you care."
I WISH I KNEW WHO YOU WERE SO THAT IF I WIN MAYOR,I CAN BAN YOU FROM THE CITY.
Please shut up, and don't respond to this. You add NOTHING original.
WOW, are YOU estute. (Hey ZD, why not lose the hat and glasses and clean up a bit and wear a suit.)
WOW, you must be Dick Morris!
JustSayAmy said:
Yes, with your support of McCain-Palin, and No on 8, you are doing really well. Your lower profile choices are almost as wrong.
We are not talking about political judgement, but personal presentation.
I'm not sure how it is you are reading otherwise.
Since you're so clear in your thoughts, how about your endorsing zuma right now? What are you waiting for?
Spencer Martin said:
Michael "I don't trust your political judgement" Higby.
That's the same guy who thought John McCain would be president.
Spencer Martin said:
Zuma dogg couldn't beat Ed Reyes in an election!
Michael Higby said:
Amy and Spencer when you have a blog that's consistently in the top 20 political blogs statewide come and back have a chat.
Your analysis that Zuma Dogg will cause Walter Moore to lose and that Zuma can win if he wears vintage clothing are just so spot on. Perhaps KCAL 9 will want to hire you?
If I vote for someone who loses so what? That doesn't mean I have to listen to your brilliant analyses here in the comments section.
Keep up the good work kids. If you get tired here there are several other blogs short on comments that could use your help.

HEY ZUMA DOGG, LEAVE MY NAME OUT OF IT!
I endorse Bruce Darian for Mayor!
P.S. Take a shower!
Spencer Martin said:
So come out with it Mayor Sam.
You endorse Zuma Dog or not? The field is now closed.
We await your golden word.
Unknown said:
No, Zuma couldn't beat Ed Reyes in a debate, and he can barely speak English!
Unknown said:
Higby how about some candor. Do you ever post comments anonymously on your blog in order to appear as though the comments are coming from readers?
I'm not talking about Spencer or Amy. I'm asking if you ever post on your blog as Anonymous, when that option was allowed.

JOHN & KEN JUST SAID, AND I QUOTE, "VILLAR HAS 15 CLOWNS CHALLENGING HIM."
DOUBTFUL THAT ZUMA DOGG WILL BE TELLING OTHERS ABOUT THAT, RIGHT?

Remember, there isn't just a mayoral election coming up, but other important races:
MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, DISTRICT NO. 4: We already know Mayor Villaraiogsa backed and got elected to the LAUSD school board, three other puppet-candidates (Tamar Galatzan, Yoli Folres-Aguilar and that other puppet-head.) NOW, the only two non-Villarpuppets are choosing not to run for re-election. Julie Korenstein (ZD's FAVE) and Marlene Kantor have had enough, and are choosing not to re-run, like David Tokofsky, who couldn't take it anymore -- so Villar got him a good job with Steve Barr's Green Dot, and he didn't run. And Villar took the LAUSD seat with his puppet.
THE WHOLE POINT OF IT ALL, IS TO SHOOT LAUSD IN THE FOOT AND FUNNEL ALL THE MONEY INTO CHARTER SCHOOLS. HEY, GREEN DOT IS THE BIGGEST OPERATOR OF CHARTERS. AND GUESS WHAT???
Now, Steve Barr's Green Dot is backing and running THEIR OWN personal candidate. (Forget shooting LAUSD in the foot, now they can just shoot it in the head).
That's right, ladies and gentelmen...BEN AUSTIN (of Green Dot) is running against Bill Ring (the REAL candidate) in this LAUSD race. It says, "Director, Parents' Association" as his occupation, but "Green Dot 'Operative'" is more fitting. His work as "Director of Parents Association" is the recruiting arm for Green Dot.
I met Ben, and he is a sharp guy. He came up in the Meathead Rob Riener ranks with Michael Trujillo and is cut from the same cookie cutter.
Hey, maybe you feel Green Dot SHOULD be handed over all of the contracts and money -- away from LAUSD. JUST SO YOU KNOW...Ben Austin is the Green Dot guy. Bill Ring is the actual leader and parent and advocate.
CITY ATTORNEY: Z.A.P. Endorses Carmen Trutanich.
CITY CONTROLLER: Z.A.P. Endorses Nick Patsaouras.
CITY COUNCIL CD 7: Z.A.P. Endorses Guillermo Huesca.
LAUSD 4: Z.A.P. Endorses BILL RING
LAUSD 6: Z.A.P. Endorses Louis Pugliese
MAYOR: Z.A.P. Endorses Zuma Dogg
Michael Higby said:
I won't endorse a candidate for Mayor at least until the end of the year if that. I'm "undecided" for now.
