Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Sunday
The Los Angeles City budget outlook for 2009 is "bleak" according to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. The Mayor told attendees at the annual "Budget Day" Saturday that the budget deficit could reach $400 million prompting deep cuts in City services and job layoffs. Not good news for a Mayor going into re-election.
An organization the represents various cities in the San Gabriel Valley has come out against the Mayor's transit tax scam - Measure R - that would raise taxes on residents througout LA County to build projects in West Los Angeles. The San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments voted unanimously on a resolution that opposes Measure R. La Cañada Flintridge City Councilman Dave Spence told a local publication “You just can’t take funds and tax the people in San Gabriel Valley to give the city of L.A. their transportation needs.”
LA isn't the only city in Southern California getting hit up for more taxes and bonds. A Santa Monica based community group, Friends of Sunset Park is opposed to a bond raising money for Santa Monica College on the November ballot. Among a long list of detailed objections to the bond measure, a key issue prompting opposition to the bond is the fact that although Santa Monica's property owners will pay the full cost of the bill, only 15% of SMC students actually live in Santa Monica.
Fifth District City Council candidate, Adeena Bleich, is first in fundraising according to current reports. Bleich, a former deputy to controversial incumbent Jack Weiss, has raised $150,000 with former Assemblyman and West Hollywod Mayor (carpetbagger) Paul Koretz just behind Bleich with $142,000 raised. The old, dead Republican Mayor has yet to decide who he is supporting in the 5th District however Adeena holds a special place in my heart as she was one of the first folks to buy a Bob Hertzberg stuffed bear from the Mayor Sam Online Store.
School Board Member Tamar Galatzan writes in CityWatch that she's been trying to get the straight story on a previous agreement between the LAUSD and the DWP to allow pilot group of schools to install solar panels to generate some electricity. According to District officials who spoke with Galatzan, the DWP cancelled all meetings with respect to the contract and didn't sit down to discuss it with the school district until after the agreement expired.

Are you insane (again)?
"The old, dead Republican Mayor has yet to decide who he is supporting in the 5th District however Adeena holds a special place in my heart as she was one of the first folks to buy a Bob Hertzberg stuffed bear from the Mayor Sam Online Store."
Thank god she didn't do your laundry, too, or she'd really be a shoe-in, not to mention a real "insider" on the political scene.
If that were any basis for anyone being elected, you would have a council that would barely be more qualified than the ones you have now- JUST barely. You might as well consider what kind of music they like most in order to get some idea of what their council membership could bring us.
Maybe identifying just exactly who their friends and associations have been would help us out a wee bit more. Just knowing that somebody worked for a present council person is a strike against them.
Final note: You left out telling us the astrological sign- does anyone have that information handy for our present bunch of trough-feeders? THAT could be more insightful than their campaign brochures have ever been.
WAIT- I have to take that back. Rocky's campaign information was vast, thinking back on it now. The problem was that it had too many LIES (pro footballer, athletic scholarship, etc.) unless he meant to say those were some of his past "goals."
But let's roll the dice and get a new bunch into office that aren't like little kangaroos carried around in mayor Tony's pouch while waiting for meal time from their leader. While they wait in that warm, cozy setting, he's training them on the fine art of collecting money to run for office while pulling down a paycheck from the office at the SAME time that he does NO WORK in that office.
Just Some weekend (weak end, we can, weak canned, weakened?) observations.

The timing of the economic meltdown couldn't be better! By the time Tony the Thug is up for re-election next March, unemployment in LA will reach 20%!! It's already almost 10%.
LA has at least 2M illegals who are squatting and sucking our resources dry. Crime will escalate to epic proportions.
We can throw Villar's brown ass out in a flash...it's the Illegals, stupido!
The illegals, anchor brats, and low income unskilled workers have single handedly caused the economic bankruptcy of LA and the country! Even my cat can connect the dots!
Andale, Villar! Vamoose!

Antonio just raised trash fees and implemented a huge tax on cell phones, etc. And now he tells us there is a budget deficit??? Are you kidding me?

Adeena Bleich is a mess. A joke. A clueless, spoiled rich girl who thinks the council seat should be hers because she turned 30. Please no.
Please?

Higby, why would you support ANYONE connected to Jack Weiss? There's a taint there like after one wipe's his arse and the wrist gets poop on it.
Adeena has Weiss poop on her.

Hey y'all, check your new DWP bill. The new "trash collection fee" of $62 is on the bill. And that's your tripling...
$84...do I hear $84?

I see the dumbshits are typing before they read.
Again, I didn't say that I supported Bleich or any one candidate.
What I expressed was my personal amusement that Adeena bought something from our store.
When the time gets closer I'll tell you who I support, hopefully someone who is pro-business, not a toe tag liberal and has some out of the box ideas.
I'm not holding out much hope so once again it will be the lesser of all evils.

Not only did Adeena work for Weiss but Hertzberg and Mayor Hahn. Her resume must look a little goofy. Just she can't hold a job.
And which good ideas does she have? Given all that experience in government, she must have done something in the past, or developed some ideas by now.
What does she tell people at the fundraisers?
And Higby, can you tell us which positions the candidates for this job need to take to earn your support? Maybe you can help guide them.

Who would buy a Hertzberg anything?
Besides, it isn't FAT enough.
it must be Hertzberg with the Bullshit squeezed out.

I have it on good authority that the city isn't in dire financial trouble, it's actually on good financial ground. As usual, our eleven percent mayor has it all wrong.
