Breaking: Sarah Palin Guilty!

Alaska panel finds Palin abused power in firing

By MATT APUZZO, Associated Press Writer 9 minutes ago

Sarah Palin unlawfully abused her power as governor by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper, the chief investigator of an Alaska legislative panel concluded Friday. The politically charged inquiry imperiled her reputation as a reformer on John McCain's Republican ticket.

Investigator Stephen Branchflower, in a report by a bipartisan panel that investigated the matter, found Palin in violation of a state ethics law that prohibits public officials from using their office for personal gain.

The inquiry looked into her dismissal of Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan, who said he lost his job because he resisted pressure to fire a state trooper involved in a bitter divorce with the governor's sister. Palin says Monegan was fired as part of a legitimate budget dispute.

The panel found that Palin let the family grudge influence her decision-making even if it was not the sole reason Monegan was dismissed. "I feel vindicated," Monegan said. "It sounds like they've validated my belief and opinions. And that tells me I'm not totally out in left field."

Branchflower said Palin violated a statute of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act.

Palin and McCain's supporters had hoped the inquiry's finding would be delayed until after the presidential election to spare her any embarrassment and to put aside an enduring distraction as she campaigns as McCain's running mate in an uphill contest against Democrat Barack Obama.

But the panel of lawmakers voted to release the report, although not without dissension.

"I think there are some problems in this report," said Republican state Sen. Gary Stevens, a member of the panel. "I would encourage people to be very cautious, to look at this with a jaundiced eye."

The nearly 300-page report does not recommend sanctions or a criminal investigation.

Good for her!

Finally someone with enough ca-ho-nes to fire a Police Commissioner who is derelict in their duty and refuses to go against the Good Old Boys Club and fire a police officer who uses a Taser on a child and makes death threats.

When she finishes her term as Vice President can she come to LA, run for Mayor and Fire 90% of our Police Commissioners?

Let's write it all up so Valley Ditz and Don Culo will relax and watch Dancing With The Stars:

Sarah Palin is a Nazi.
Sarah Palin is a racist.
Sarah Palin hates animals.
Sarah Palin hates Smurfs.
Sarah Palin is a bitch.
Fuck Sarah Palin.

Does that cover it?

This is the break McCain's campaign needs. His Hail Mary pass decision to have her as his running mate backfired. This gives her the perfect excuse to drop out (don't want to be a distraction) and for McCain to find a replacement.

The campaign needs something big and this could be it.

No one can fire 90% of our police commissioners because there are only 5 of them. You can fire 80% or 100%, but not 90%. You must be a McCain speechwriter.

LOL. Hey you think it was a political smear job or what? It brings to mind Emily Latella's "never mind."

As for her grades, they lifted them off of someone else's blog. They belong to the blogger.

Not really "Guilty" since there was no trial. This was an administrative process and the whole thing is comparable to an employment dispute to get the job back.

The process appears comparable to the California unemployment appeals for determining the basis for discharge, but the governor made the decision in this case.

Not a criminal trial, or even a civil trial, so using
"Guilty" is not the correct word. On the other hand, if she had been "exonerated", you would not say "Innocent", either, only that the claim had not been sustained.

For many, the process was just a formality and their minds were made up without it, regardless of what decision had been announced.

The investigation panel, which was comprised primarily of Republicans, did exactly what it was expected to do ... investigate the facts.

Any actions that might lead to sanctions or penalties will be up the AG and others.

If there were no investigation, that would have been the political smear job.

Someone needed to investigate, and the results proved the reason why.
