This is the city: Los Angeles, California. I work here. I'm an ex-mayor. Los Angeles is a magnet for people from all over the world. Some of them run for public office. Inevitably some of them stray from the golden rule and rule for those that have the gold. That's when I go to work. My name is Yorty. I'm a dead pol.

Wolves and bears are very effective and efficient predators on caribou, moose, deer and other wildlife. In most of Alaska, humans also rely on the same species for food. In Alaska's Interior, predators kill more than 80 percent of the moose and caribou that die during an average year, while humans kill less than 10 percent. In most of the state, predation holds prey populations at levels far below what could be supported by the habitat in the area. Predation is an important part of the ecosystem, and all ADF&G wolf management programs, including control programs, are designed to sustain wolf populations in the future.
Alaska is not Los Angeles, dumbass.
People can't just walk to the grocery store for food.
Keep diggin' libtards.

I've been to Alaska, and yes you can at least drive to a grocery store. This is just cruel and unfair, at least give the wolf a chance to kick your ass before you blow him away with your assault rifle.

"Sarah Palin has supported aerial hunting since taking office despite the fact that the National Academy of Sciences, the National Research Council, the American Society of Mammalogists, and more than 120 other scientists have called for a halt to the program, citing its lack of scientific justification and despite opposition from many hunters who see it as violating the sportsmen's ethic of fair chase. Palin in 2007 even proposed offering a bounty of $150 per wolf, as long as the hunter provided the wolf's foreleg as proof of the kill. And just earlier this year, she introduced legislation to expand the program and derail a scheduled August 2008 citizens' vote on the issue. The bounty was determined to violate the state's constitution and her legislation failed.
"Sarah Palin's positions against America's wildlife could put her to the right of even the Bush administration," said Schlickeisen. "She is a promoter of one of our nation's most ugly and cruel wildlife hunting programs and Americans deserve to know her views on such matters before they vote." -Defenders of Wildlife

Ugly American - are you suggesting that Palin and her constituents are killing those wolves before the wolves eat the caribou and moose that she wants to eat?!
Talk about diggin', reptard... You're in too deep.
People can most certainly walk to to a grocery store unless they're fat asses, dumbass.
Have you never been there?

Eve Ensler, the American playwright, performer, feminist and activist best known for "The Vagina Monologues", wrote the following about Sarah Palin
Drill, Drill, Drill
I am having Sarah Palin nightmares. I dreamt last night that she was a member of a club where they rode snowmobiles and wore the claws of drowned and starved polar bears around their necks. I have a particular thing for Polar Bears. Maybe it's their snowy whiteness or their bigness or the fact that they live in the arctic or that I have never seen one in person or touched one. Maybe it is the fact that they live so comfortably on ice. Whatever it is, I need the polar bears.
I don't like raging at women. I am a Feminist and have spent my life trying to build community, help empower women and stop violence against them. It is hard to write about Sarah Palin. This is why the Sarah Palin choice was all the more insidious and cynical. The people who made this choice count on the goodness and solidarity of Feminists.
But everything Sarah Palin believes in and practices is antithetical to Feminism which for me is part of one story -- connected to saving the earth, ending racism, empowering women, giving young girls options, opening our minds, deepening tolerance, and ending violence and war.
I believe that the McCain/Palin ticket is one of the most dangerous choices of my lifetime, and should this country chose those candidates the fall-out may be so great, the destruction so vast in so many areas that America may never recover. But what is equally disturbing is the impact that duo would have on the rest of the world. Unfortunately, this is not a joke. In my lifetime I have seen the clownish, the inept, the bizarre be elected to the presidency with regularity.
Sarah Palin does not believe in evolution. I take this as a metaphor. In her world and the world of Fundamentalists nothing changes or gets better or evolves. She does not believe in global warming. The melting of the arctic, the storms that are destroying our cities, the pollution and rise of cancers, are all part of God's plan. She is fighting to take the polar bears off the endangered species list. The earth, in Palin's view, is here to be taken and plundered. The wolves and the bears are here to be shot and plundered. The oil is here to be taken and plundered. Iraq is here to be taken and plundered. As she said herself of the Iraqi war, "It was a task from God."
Sarah Palin does not believe in abortion. She does not believe women who are raped and incested and ripped open against their will should have a right to determine whether they have their rapist's baby or not.
She obviously does not believe in sex education or birth control. I imagine her daughter was practicing abstinence and we know how many babies that makes.
Sarah Palin does not much believe in thinking. From what I gather she has tried to ban books from the library, has a tendency to dispense with people who think independently. She cannot tolerate an environment of ambiguity and difference. This is a woman who could and might very well be the next president of the United States. She would govern one of the most diverse populations on the earth.
Sarah believes in guns. She has her own custom Austrian hunting rifle. She has been known to kill 40 caribou at a clip. She has shot hundreds of wolves from the air.
Sarah believes in God. That is of course her right, her private right. But when God and Guns come together in the public sector, when war is declared in God's name, when the rights of women are denied in his name, that is the end of separation of church and state and the undoing of everything America has ever tried to be.
I write to my sisters. I write because I believe we hold this election in our hands. This vote is a vote that will determine the future not just of the U.S., but of the planet. It will determine whether we create policies to save the earth or make it forever uninhabitable for humans. It will determine whether we move towards dialogue and diplomacy in the world or whether we escalate violence through invasion, undermining and attack. It will determine whether we go for oil, strip mining, coal burning or invest our money in alternatives that will free us from dependency and destruction. It will determine if money gets spent on education and healthcare or whether we build more and more methods of killing. It will determine whether America is a free open tolerant society or a closed place of fear, fundamentalism and aggression.
If the Polar Bears don't move you to go and do everything in your power to get Obama elected then consider the chant that filled the hall after Palin spoke at the RNC, "Drill Drill Drill." I think of teeth when I think of drills. I think of rape. I think of destruction. I think of domination. I think of military exercises that force mindless repetition, emptying the brain of analysis, doubt, ambiguity or dissent. I think of pain.
Do we want a future of drilling? More holes in the ozone, in the floor of the sea, more holes in our thinking, in the trust between nations and peoples, more holes in the fabric of this precious thing we call life?

I can see dumb men wanting to kill defenseless animals for their ego. However, a female like Palin doing this for sport is outrageous. Women have different emotional make up then men. She did horrible with Charlie Gibson and the McCain campaign is not allowing her to answer questions or speak out anymore. She's been out of the country once, never met any foreign dignataries, has no clue on Bush doctrine even though we're at war and blamed the war in Iraq on 9/11.

No shit-for-brains, I’m talking about “fat ass” native Eskimos who live in open territories which are literally hundreds of miles from civilization. Yes, there are “grocers” on the Artic slope but they’re certainly nowhere near the traditional sense of a Von’s supermarket.
Have you never been there?
Yes, while serving in the military.
Look, Alaskans have twice voted to reject this "same-day" aerial hunting but it was overturned by their legislature. Sort of like the way Sacramento and the 9th Circuit continually ignore the will of Californians.
In short, this is an issue for Alaskan voters to resolve, not interlopers who have no clue what they are talking about.

I'll vote for McCain-Palin, then.
Thanks for pointing this out!

"She did terrible with Charlie Gibson."
You are delusional. Watch the polls on Monday. You will see that the country, for the most part, resents his misleading questions.
You'll also continue to see people rallying around her (check the approvals on her; higher than McCain, Obama and Biden) for the PERSONAL attacks.
Keep it going. You're just handing McCain-Palin the keys to the White House.

Yet another falsehood bound for the MSM dustbin.
I believe that now makes the official lies 'n distortion total:
Palin: 25
MSM: 0
BTW, you people do realize that she's running for vice president, right?
Just checking.

The Blogging Burros on this blog have no real knowledge of L.A. politics that is why you see so many links to silly YouTube Videos about McCain, Palin, Biden, Obama.
Valley Doll and Haikula should not be on this blog the supposed "Home of Los Angeles Politics" Valley Doll and Haikula would fit in nicely on the View with the other Cackling Chickens.

I know where you stand on the upcoming presidential “political issue” you seem to believe Sarah Palin is the best and brightest candidate for vice president. And since you don't post anything which demonstrates an inside or intimate knowledge of L.A. politics, we can surmise you don’t know diddly-shit other than what you my see on the local news.

Predatory animal populations in winter heavy areas(long periods of limited food supplies for herbivores) need to be kept in balance. And sometimes that means using kills to keep that balance. i know it may horrify those who don't live around wild animals(no possums and rats don't count) but try watching aggressive packs of wolves dessimate whole chunks of your wildlife populations with extreme consequences. These ads do not tell you the reasoning or logic behind it, they shock and scare people who don't know better. It is not like it is a fun hunt thing such as these spots portray it to be. You should be honest and present an interview with a wildlife management professional to explain this. Want to see those herds of caribou? Then their predators populations need to be kept in check(ie bears and wolves)... Be fair like I thought you were...

how many more reason do people need to be against palin. wildlife management is just that. killing animals does not manage the problem in most cases it makes it worse.
