Althea, You are doing great! Now just wait for the naysayers to put down Doug, Kevin, Walter and your family for being naive and alienating the current politicians. We CAN take back this city. We WILL elect Walter Moore. Now all we have to do is to get Kevin and Doug to run for council in their districts! How many more excuses will Jack Weiss have for ignoring Jamiel's Law and Special Order 40 discussion? Jamiel's Law must be enacted.

You said it, Nancy, speaking for all the bluehairs and logically challenged sheep -- when you shoot cannons into the wrong house, your misguided mission has as much chance of succeeding as Moore winning for Mayor. You'll learn soon enough. When the shamelessly opportunistic lead the ignorant, the valid gripe is the loser.

But McIntyre will get to grandstand at your expense, dragging the Shaws and Balognas (from San Francisco to a local Councilman's office for redress, ludicrously) for show.

Too bad your shepherds couldn't have come up with a plan that isn't intentionally blind when it comes to the Republican DA you should be riding -- the people you're attacking aren't in charge of the prisons or the bigger immigration issues that are your real gripe. What an ignorant bunch, and y'all want to "lead" or choose a new government? On every major issue from transportation to how to go about addressing gang crime, you're an ass-backwards bunch. Thank goodness you don't stand a chance.

Both families should find a decent attorney and use the federal immigration laws:

Federal Laws already exist, but are not being enforced
8 USC Sec 1325 - Illegal Entry
Any alien who enters U.S. other than at A port of entry by false or
misleading representation shall be subject to civil and criminal penalties
can be fined and imprisoned

Section 1324a Hiring - Harboring - Transporting any illegal alien
Any person who knowingly hires/harbors/ transports any illegal alien is
guilty of a felony punishable by 10 years jail + $2,000 fine per
illegal alien + forfeiture of vehicle or property used to commit the crime.

Section 1324c Law officers have authority to make arrests...
All officers whose duty it is to enforce criminal laws shall have
authority to make arrests for violation of any provision of this section
(affirmed US vs. Perez-Gonzalez 2002 Fed App 0360, 6th Circ.) Section
1324a Hiring - Harboring - Transporting any illegal alien.

Section 1644
No local ordinance, rule, or measure shall stop law enforcement
officers from enforcement of this section (affirmed Southern District Court
of NY, US vs. Rudy Giuliani, 1996.

to overturn these sanctuary policies. Maybe the mayors, councilmen, and other elected officials could be named as defendants in a civil suit.

If you can't make it, maybe a simple call or fax to get moving on things would get his attention, and it's lots easier than sending the toilet brushes like Antonio got.

An illegal immigrant killed him. Every time you use the word, "alien", you are GOING TO lose credit with half of your readers. Whether you think it's okay or not, you lose credibility because every body has different feelings on this.

Too many people don't like the word, alien. Can't you give anywhere? It just makes the rest of us rebellious. Then we can't work together to solve the real issues.

Anonymous @ 3:40,

You're the guy posing as a former meagerly-paid journalist at the "respected east coast newspaper" who's been posting at Ron Kaye's site aren't you.

No need to be so afraid of Doug McIntyre. He's not out to get you personally, my friend.

I wonder if Dougie will have the family of Jasmine Sanders on anytime soon? Na doubt it! She died at the hands of another black person. That doesn't make for interesting radio. No one cares about black on black crime. Doug is a tool. Walter Moore wants you to believe that he is sick and tired of gangbangers, but the truth is that Jamiel Shaw was a banger himself, or at least he thought he was.

3:31 A.M., up all night worrying about other commenters? I have no idea who would be "afraid" of Doug McIntyre, but it's just plain stupid to pretend that his and presumably your, if you're his follower, biases aren't leading the loud and shrilly ignorant leding the blind.

Blaming Bratton's LAPD and SO40 for the failures of Cooley and his DA's office and Baca's, just because Cooley's Republican so you choose to turn a blind eye, and blaming local officials even for a gang murder in San Francisco, just makes all of your following McIntyre incomprehensibly ridiculous. (Your Walter Moore comes off as shrilly irrational when challenged also -- and like Moore, he IS provincial, utterly unfit to interact with, let alone lead, an international city.)

Intelligent people who might have been sympathetic with the issue are disgusted, which you'd know if you followed blogs other than this one, and the extremist AM talk shows.

CONGRATS!!!!! LOOKS LIKE THEY'RE FINALLY LISTENING

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The LAPD's policy called Special Order 40 will take center stage at a public hearing. The policy prohibits officers from questioning suspects about their immigration status.
The Los Angeles City Council announced it will hold a hearing in October.
Special Order 40 drew criticism earlier this year when Jamiel Shaw was killed by a reputed gang member who was also an illegal immigrant.
Councilman Dennis Zine then introduced a proposal to allow officers to check on a gang member's immigration status even if the person is not under arrest.

Mr. Foster and others, it seems like you are missing my point. Jasmine Sanders was killed at the hands of another black person. In my mind this crime was more disturbing to me because of the simple fact that she was killed by her 13 year old gang banger cousin. Yet, this is hardly a blip on Dougie Macs radar. Why is that? Maybe because the perpetrator wasn't an illegal alien. It seems to me that the Jamiel Shaw murder has become a political tool rather than an avenue to make societal changes.

What allegations do you want me to prove? That he was in a gang, or infatuated with the lifestyle? The truth is I probably won't change any of your minds but here is a link

Yes, I know most of you on this blog are probably familiar with this information, but would rather not accept it or discuss it. I don't blame Jamiel Shaw for looking up to gang-bangers or wanting to imitating them.

Najee Ali wants to discredit Jamiel Shaw Jr.! What kind of activist turns on the murdered victim? Seems like a true activist for the community would look at illegal alien criminal/gangbanger?

Najee Ali is the one with a criminal record. Not Jamiel Jr.

The murder of Jasmine was a tragedy regardless of who did it, but it's known that it was her cousin.

The accusation of ignoring black on black crime completely misses the point. The perpetrator of Jasmine's shooting is somebody legally in the country and that is the issue, not the color.

The idea that criminals who have a track record should not be allowed to remain in the country if they are illegally here and create an unnecessary risk of serious harm to us. The entire time that such a person is present in the U.S. is the exposure to the rest of society, including fellow gangsters.

That person is not entitled to be here. In the case of the shooting of Jasmine, you have somebody here with a lawful right to be present in the country. It is not the "gang banger" status or "brown gang banger" or "black gang banger" that makes the difference, the illegal alien status PLUS being a gang banger, and it could be one who is from any country who came here and is here unlawfully.

In present society, it just turns out for several reasons that many of these persons are citizens of mainly Latin American countries, many from, but not exclusively so, Mexico. El Salvador and Guatemala are other involved nationalities that many ignorant people lump into the group as "illegal MEXICANS", or simply "MEXICANS," as if ALL of the Latinos were illegal. But that is what things have come down to with so much crime. Many people want to be simplistic- and they do that too well, unfortunately.

The case complained of is without those features and that is why it is distinguishable from this topic.

It might be nice to be able to get ALL gang bangers off the street but there has to be a lawful basis for it and a U.S. citizen black male gang banger, deplorable as his actions may be, is not deportable. THAT is why the recent events haven't and logically wouldn't include that specific murder.

It looks like all that is being ignored to meet your agenda. Race is not the determinative element, although many treat it as such.

Complain as you will, that is what this is about, eliminating known criminals who legally should not be allowed to stay in this country- and if they were NOT involved in criminal conduct they would be outside the scope of the proposed actions, even if illegally here.

We are just trying to do what you can do legally. One step at a time, but under the law.
