Yeah, yeah . . .

"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not gonna take it anymore!"

(Yawn, wonder what's on Oprah).

The people in power in L.A. know they already DON'T have the votes of 90 percent of the people that would show up for a grandstanding waste of time like this (and they just don't care).

They obviously don't need them to stay in power and do what they please -- and by this time next year, two-thirds of the attendees will have moved away in disgust or given up and gone back to being completely apathetic. Then, in a few months, yet another "leader" will be trying to rally the next group of temporary activists.

Wake up. Grow up. Spend your time on something that matters.

Be a "big brother'.

Feed the poor.

Plant a tree.

Or, just make more money for yourself and squander it.

Something. Anything.

Because these every-six-month "causes" are just too f*cking annoying.

To take something "back" don't you have to have "had" it at some point?

When was that?

When crooked "white" guys like the real Sam Yorty were running everything?

Don't kid yourself. These were the people who short-sighted and short-circuited every kind of mass transit mentioned in the linked story, over and over again. Not to mention green-lighting any kind of overdevelopment they could get a kickback on.

It's the same old story, just a slightly different skin pigmentation.

Take a look at RonKayeLA.com today and how he single-handedly got Dennis Zine to act on a tenement that popped up in his neighborhood. Remember, this guy doesn't run the Daily News anymore.

It's too bad everyone can't have a Ron Kaye in their neighborhood. But it is possible for every community in this city to unite behind his leadership.

Hopefully, the rally Monday will be a catalyst for an organization that can have a real impact on how this city operates. Given the political dynamic that protects incumbents and anoints their allies, it's almost impossible to change the players overnight, but it is possible to change the agenda. Ron proved that his week without ever leaving the block.

Frankly, I'd rather see him run for mayor. He can't win, of course, but the debates would be terrific.

Ron Kaye ran the Daily News?

Okay, not I KNOW this is a PR scam.

The Times may be a has-been newspaper.

The Daily News is a never-was.

The Daily News put the kibosh on the subway.

10:26 is right ONLY because Zev is such a WUSS.

In his interview in today's Times with Steve Hymon/ Bottleneck Blog, on their ride on the subway, Zev admits that that DN article made him "see" that the city wasn't ready for the subway yet.

What a clown -- the Daily News is still running anti-westside, anti- subway and Expo-line editorials, like just this week 7/8, referenced also in Hymon's article among the comments.

The provincial hicks in the Valley who control Daily News (now, compounded by Latino-centric new editor Carolina Garcia and her favoring the EASTside of the city and valley) will always oppose the westside and bitch they're not getting their "fair share."

Zev's desperation to be popular everywhere, even though he didn't represent the Valley, was fatal and cost us 20 years. How nice he's finally onboard representing the westside.

It’s estimate that 100-300 people will participate in the Saving LA Project. I’m wishing all concerned Angelenos will take this day off and take a stance in taking back LA from these politicians, who in my opinion are only concerned about special interest groups, campaign contributions, and taxing constituents.

Let's say your right (and I think you're probably right by less than half) 300 into 4 million -- let's see, carry the ought, divide by pi, multiply by the GNP for 1936... and, that's:

Less than 1/100th of 1 percent of the city's population.

Sorry, bubbah. Not only is this not "grass roots," there aren't even enough grass SEEDS there to grow any roots anytime this century.

Now maybe, if the buzzword was "hope" or "change," instead of the even more indecipherable "saving" L.A. or the hyperbolically angry and off-putting, "SLAP" this might have stood a chance.

Just goes to prove -- newspaper people make the WORST flacks and generally suck at rallying people to do anything other than write nasty letters to the editor!

If you doubt that, just ask anyone who knew Doug Dowie (another pompous, self-immolating DN-alum) from his H-K days.
