Granada Hills Boys' Golf Team Wins City Crown
The Sister City would like to congratulate the fine young men of the Granada Hills H.S. golf team for their victory over Woodland Hill's El Camino Real team.
::happy dance::
The DN reports:
With a 14-stroke lead that carried over from Monday's first round, Granada Hills was able to withstand a second-round charge Wednesday by El Camino Real of Woodland Hills to win the City Section boys' golf championship at Griffith Park Golf Club's Wilson Course. The Highlanders won by seven strokes to earn their first City title since 2004 and 11th championship in the past 18 years.
El Camino Real beat Granada Hills on the same two courses last week to win the City 6-A League title and shot a 384 Wednesday, but dug too big of a hole after trailing by 19 strokes following the front nine in the first round.
The Highlanders shot a two-day total of 775. El Camino Real finished at 782, while fellow league rival Cleveland of Reseda came in third at 799. Granada Hills and ECR advance to the CIF/SCGA tournament May 29 in Murrieta.
You boys rock! Good luck and have fun in Murrieta!
