What Are They Saying?
Zuma Dogg sent over a series of City Hall related clips including Council President Eric Garcetti and Council Member Tony Cardenas discussing something while speakers are talking.
Feel free to post here your guess as to what they're talking about.

Who's going to beat Jack Weiss in the City Attorney race if Bob Hertzberg changes his mind and runs for Mayor.

Something about the mayoral gang takeover.

What prompted me to turn the cameras on Council for this spot check:
a) Kevin James, who only went to council to observe was so offended by what he saw, he signed up for his own public comment to address the topic of this lack of attention -- and he ranted on the air about it...and when I called in to address another issue...he
immediately asked me if they are always this dis-attentive during public comment. So that gave me the idea.
b) next morning...J. Shaw, Sr. was on Doug McIntyre and he said it looked like, "happy hour, a social gathering. people were walking out of the room and CM Parks
only walked in for my (j.s, sr's) public comment.
Shaw, Sr.was very displeased with Council and said he felt they were trying to "trick him" out of his
public comment by bringing him in back. (And he DID miss it, and they had to ask Garcetti for another chance, which of course they got. But Shaw, Sr. also commented that he mentioned that he didn't think they were paying attention to others.
It was totally random, y'all...wasn't trying to fix this to look shady...this isn't just over the course of a couple minutes
or just general public comment...it's throughout as much of the meeting as I attended. And Eric DEFINITELY chit chatted through the ENTIRE Venice Beach Repeal Ordinance public comment and CM discussion.
Maybe the mayor should KEEP Garcetti as CM Prez, instead of replacing him with Wesson -- just so Eric can't disrupt Council.

They even tried to offer Jamiel, Sr. a better paying job.

I mean, that's really insulting, the man is on a crusade (whether you agree with his point or not) because he loved his son. To think he'd back off for money, incredible.

Incredible? For money?
C'mon Higby, I know you fell off a turnip truck in Iowa on a Sunday, but it wan't last Sunday. Or, was it?
By the way, they must have been discussing what a fool ZD is, otherwise the attention whore wouldn't have sent, it, right?
What do I win?

Bob Hertzberg couldn't run after a pastrami sandwich. He's fat and lazy and couldn't beat Matt Dowd when it comes to legal office. He MIGHT have been able to beat Rocky, but no such luck, that fool is termed out. 90% of the city doesn't remember Huggy Boy, I barely do, and the Mexicans couldn't care less.
Anonymous said:
Hey Sam that guy doesn't give up. Stupid fuck yea they offered Jamiel money to not speak and give up Jamiel's law. Didn't you read his story?
Anonymous said:
OMG! That awful Garcetti was shocked by the racial ugliness Walter Moore's followers used! I say take him outside and hang him with the Mexicans!
Shaw said "They" offered him a better job. Leave it to Higby to spin it into the Clowncil. Show us where he said Clowncil.
What is Mr. Shaw's job now Higby?
What was he offered? By whom?
Who is "they" because if it's Clowncil, why did you miss the chance to tell us so we can get them on this? If it was a "better job" was it in the same field?
Michael Higby, this is big. Stop holding back!
Yay, fat mouth, if you don't post it I'm running over to Joe's and putting it up over there.

7:55, you doth protest too much!
What people WILL remember is a (failed) recall effort against Weiss, with TENS OF THOUSANDS of signatures to remove his ass from City Council.
Gee whiz, you sound awfully afraid of this million-dollar attorney who has more charisma and smarts in his pinky than the ARROGANT Weiss.
Don't ever TRY to contest these points; you'll be laughed off of the blog, Mr. Weiss.

A bunch of people should get together, print t-shirts that say something about how rude it is not to pay attention when the public is speaking, wear them to a Council meeting, sit up front, alert the media what will happen, bring their own video cameras, and simply stand up whenever the Councilmembers are acting rudely. They wouldn't say anything, be waving any sticks, or give the police an excuse to usher them out, which is what you'd hope for anyway.
Anonymous said:
don't take it personally, zuma. as you know, the CMs don't pay much attention to anyone in public comment, regardless of the topic.
maybe if the average comment was better they might start listening more attentively.
maybe not.
Mayor Sam said:
Well kiddies, I'm knocking off and the machine takes over from here. Don't bitch if your comments don't get approved until the morning. If you're lucky, one of the other gate keepers will be up overnight and hit that little publish button. Have fun!

I'll hazard a guess.
Tony and Eric are saying they are awful glad that Mayor Sam booted Zuma Dogg and put up a wall around Don Quixote and friends * we know they are posting anonymously here the same comments they are posting under their name at Joe Meathead's blog ***

These Council fools act like three year olds. Their attention span is so limited. If their papa is not there to correct them they will not listen. Anyhow we are not their campaign donors or lobbyist representing big business prospects. Your little vote means nothing to them and they let you know it. What’s one vote when they can brainwash the rest of the herd they are in control of the media.

If all the comments have to be approved by you. How come you allow speech that is nonsensical. You have sold your soul to the higher bid.

Maybe Zuma can sell the t-shirts on Venice.
I know this is a repeat but this council are the most rude and disrespectful bunch.
The worst part is-they don't get it!

Weiss is not the only dog in this fight, nor is Huggy Bear.
Just like everyone thought Mike Feuer was a shoo-in and Rocky came from nowhere to beat him, so is a real candidate waiting in the wings to beat Weiss for City Attorney.
No, it is not that loser Hertzberg, Higby.
It is Carmen "Nuch" Trutanich from San Pedro, a former Deouty City Attorney who is being backed ny a whole cadre of important folks, including D.A. Steve Cooley, Sheriff Lee Baca, and, from what I am hearing, a pretty good group of Councilmembers, maybe 7 or 8 of them.
Now, that's a serious candidate, as opposed to Pastrami Bob.
As usual, Higby's hero is (to coin an old phrase) more than a day late and will be more than a dollar short.

Why is it that the council has gotten so horrible and disrespectful with the public? They don't sit in their seats and are the rudess group. I laughed when Eric last week kept repeating, we will not tolerate misconduct, cursing etc. Yet, MISCONDUCT is what the loser council members are doing. Let's get another video of them in action and post on YouTube. These high paid morons do behave like school children.
Anonymous said:
While the disrespectful behavior was exhibited long before Zuma Dogg, Matt Dowd and Mike Hunt (is that really his name???)started their antics at City Council, it seems that the bad behavior by the loathsome trio may have given license to the council to disrespect everyone.
This is wrong, wrong, wrong.
There are people with legitimate problems who need to be heard, and there are things that need to be said.
So if the three idiots will stay away, perhaps the Council will come back to its previous slights, instead of outright disrespect for everything and everybody.
Just one more thing to thank Zuma, Matt and Mike for.
Zuma Dogg said:
Don't think anyone is fooled with your ridiculous take on why council no longer listens to public comment.
Even if it were because of those three guys, that does not excuse their behavior during all other public comment speakers. Your spin just doesn't make any sense. Try selling that to the voters in response to the video. (You'll find out what it feels like to hear the roar of the crowd in laughter the way Jerry Seinfeld or Jay Leno gets to.)

No one knows or cares who Hertzberg was except for a couple of his former flacks on this blog. All I remember about him is getting interviewed at some deli, eating pastrami, and how he spent a lot of time there. And how he was trying to lose weight but never could. HE's got the charisma of Kirstie Allie, but at at least she managed to lose weight. No one CARES about your fat boy, and saying so isn't "protesting too much," get over it.

And I don't believe for a minute that if the recall people had had anywhere near the signatures they said they did, they'd have shown them as proof. They only pulled the effort short of turning over the signatures because they didn't have them, anywhere close and didn't want to admit how few they had.
Their claim that they wanted to save taxpayers the money of counting the ballots is b.s. -- they didn't care a bit about how much money they were costing the city in starting the effort, or sending endless (ignored) letters to the City Attorney (that's funny, since he had the most ethics violations of anyone, and it wasn't a big deal, half the council did), to ethics commission, to anyone and everyone.
Basically, the more they ran around to the papers and public the more they revealed themselves for what they were, a disgruntled bunch of mostly older NIMBYs whose central effort, shaking down the Century City developers for 7.5 million, is seen as one of the reasons that the development process has been cut from 12 steps to 2. So many people feel their efforts badly backfired in a number of ways.
I personally think they undermined credibility of NIMBYs who might in some other contexts, have a valid point but now no one will listen to them. Believe me, when I attend my HOA meetings with these people, no one looks at them as heroes, but as incompetent annoyances. If they're dumb enough to dredge up their campaign it'll backfire.
Among other things, they claimed that Zev's anti-growth efforts were aimed at Weiss: to the contrary, in his Op Ed against AB1818 this weekend, Zev singled out Weiss's Century City project as a genuinely positive model of smart growth, and it's been acclaimed nationally. All of Weiss supported projects end up that way. If anything, he's weathered a storm and been vindicated, stronger than ever.
He's also the smartest person on the council, just stays low-key. Moderate views, neither left nor right. He'll do what's needed to bring safety to the streets.

"Nuch" Trutovich a serious candidate, from San Pedro? No name recognition, no real support. Baca endorsed Weiss and him and would endorse the waiter at Hertzberg's pastrami joint if asked. He "endorses" everyone.
Feuer lost to Rocky because the meathead got a half million in free ads from ClearChannel/CBS Outdoors, and Feuer was an anti-billboard, pro- community activist. We all know Rocky's still pandering to the billboard company and he wouldn't stand a chance running for dogcatcher against Boks after the record he's racked up. I kind of don't think Weiss's people are losing sleep over these challengers.

I absolutely agree that Council isn't taking public comment as seriously since Zuma Dogg and his friends Matt and Mike Hunt started going and being deliberately disrespectful, pushing the envelope as far as they could.
They're as bad for the city as the illegal invasion, an invasion of low class, homeless, city-suing parasites and pests. And since they started, those two women in Van Nuys started showing up every day, all of them taking 5 mins. each a day berating the Council, usually over fee waivers and how they're paid too much. As far as I'm concerned, they need combat pay to listen to these numskulls for upto a half-hour/day, taking away from the important duties of their day, so no wonder they are in the habit of multi-tasking at council.
There's now a general ruder tone among the speakers at Council, once it got started, it's gone downhill.
This is just like how that fool zuma dogg takes up half the time on this blog, then gases on about his Deming's Points and Tony Robbins and Sun Tzu and his platform for Mayor and School Board, until he has to get cut.
When some self-important fools misuse time and other people's time they ruin it for everyone.
It really is too bad that the Shaws had to walk into this environment -- they can thank that attention hound zuma and the obnoxious Dowd.

Good job, Zuma...thanks for the videos.
I have had the unfortunate experience of taking the time to go through the red tape of getting into the council meeting on 3 occasions...and I can vouch for the fact that these clowns simply don't give a rat's a$$ about the public at large...but come Friday's...they are all present and standing at attention as they present the weekly awards to their Mexican constituency!
What is it going to take to get everyone off their collective rear ends to recall all of them and/or conduct a California Tea Party?
What does it take for citizens to reach the breaking point...and ACT?

The council members didn't just "get" this way. (ignoring public speakers) They have been that way for as long as I can remember. These current council people were all staffers to the rude council members from years ago. That is where they learned it. If anything, what Zuma Dogg and his friends have done is make them a little more uncomfortable about it. It hasn't stopped them. There aren't enough people engaged to stop them.
If you stop 10 people in your local supermarket, I guarantee you that maybe 3 or 4 of them will know who their council member is. That's the problem. They don't know that public comment is being ignored. They don't know that the votes are in BEFORE the council meeting.
All the work is done in committee. So if you miss that public comment, you're screwed. Who knows that though?

The poster who said that Clear Channel is the reason Rocky one is 100%, absolutely right.
Go the city website, pull down the Ethics Commission and follow the money. See how much Clear Channel contributed to Rocky's campaign and anyone else who was running that year and then you'll see why they won. The billboards that year were outrageous and obnoxious and you just knew damn well how those people would be voting on the blight of legal urban graffiti.
Anonymous said:
How much did Clear Channel donate to Perry since she is using them as an excuse to get a park in South LA. Mind you she already has 5 parks in a 14 square mile but she's kissing the billboard companies butt and I want to know why.

Zuma, just go away; we don't need your spin or your pandering.
To deny that you and your little gang of First Amendment thugs created an intolerable situation at City Council is to deny reality.
Those of us who were there and had to see, hear and smell the antics knew immediaely that you had pushed th eenvelope and annoyed everyone in the room.
Have you no shame?
