Mayor Villaraigosa is against a stupid plan by the state to tax utility ratepayers to play for silly junk science global warming programs. But don't get excited my red friends, the Mayor has not had a sudden conversion to reality. The plan could cost the DWP quite a bit of money, money that of course the Mayor would prefer to skim off to pay for his wasteful spending. The LA Times also thinks he could be using as a trial balloon for his 2010 campaign for governor.Laura Chick has found that construction of the new LAPD Police Headquarters has been plagued by mistakes, mis-steps and flubs in every step of the process. Wow. What a surprise!
David Hernandez and the campaign to overturn the shady term limits scam Proposition R (you remember, the measure the Clowncil put on the ballot as a term limits measure but it actually extended term limits; a scam that FMB Fabian Nunez could not pull on the people of California) will hold a rally on the steps of City Hall on April 16th. Boston based Emerson College is moving its LA campus from Burbank to Hollywood. The arts and entertainment oriented institution who counts among its graduates Jay Leno, Henry Winkler and a number of major entertainment industry executives will open up on the site of the former Tribune Studios lot.

You link to a CityWatch reprint of Jill Stewart's version of the billboard issue which is WRONG on many accounts, as the comments on her actual article clarify -- why don't you link directly to it, under he LA Now Blog section of the Weekly?
AND Christine Pelecek herself, who's referenced, has an updated version that's more accurate than Jill's, AND Patt Morrison has a more correct version in the Times Op Ed section today/yesterday, Thursday. At least link the actual and correct versions!
Sam, the poster on above Roderick thread claims that the NUT deleted and hacked Joe's thread AND claims to have taken IP addresses of bloggers. does that mean anyone who posted, because this has gone on on every thread. IF we've been compromised by a nutcase you NEED to let us know.

......Organizers say that unlike last year, planning for this year's event has gone smoothly, although they expect a much smaller crowd than the 15,000 to 25,000 who showed up last year.
Three community groups - the March 25th Coalition, Miwon and the Latino Movement USA - have requested permits. The department expects at least 10,000 people to attend. This year's march is set to begin at 1 p.m. at two locations - MacArthur Park and Olympic Boulevard and Broadway. It will end at City Hall.

Why didn't Laura Chick audit the general contractor? HELLLOOOO shouldn't that have been the first person that would know all the high costs? As we saw in appalling details with the Jack Hoff debaucle Mayor Sam has no filtering system on this board. He repeats the same mistake of inviting nuts like Jack Hoff and Petra Fried and gives them the key to the nuthouse. Than when all hell breaks out the Mayor fake posts that nothing went awry.
They should look at the new animal shelters that were built. Mistakes everywhere, kennels not water proof, cracks in the cement work, they ran out of funds and didn't put in heated floors or solar yet they still call it a LEED certified green building. A few of the contractors went bankrupt. And of course Councilman Parks caused them to go way way overbudget on the South LA shelter because he made them change locations so he could give the other location to a friend using eminent domain.
The biggest problem with the new 155 million dollar shelters is the fact that while they are much larger structures they don't hold more animals. They hold fewer animals. When they moved into the new East Valley shelter they ran out of room. They had to euth the leftover 50 dogs that wouldn't fit in the new shelter. The rest were shoved in carriers and stacked in the storage area. The city bidding system sucks.

No word yet that the illegal aliens gangs that attacked Anonymousa for being a poodle have been deported for animal abuse. . The entire operation was unsuccessful and aborted.
Our Anonymousa has not fared well from this experience. Now she posts up that she halucinates she's Laura Chick. You know Anonymousa better than anyone. When you get off work today please direct yourself to her confusion and order a fresh menudo enema stat!
