"40 hours of bloggin dreamin about your City"

In the spirit of MLK and our great Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, I give this 40 hour open thread to "Dream with Me".
"Dream with Me" on solutions that will solve our gang problem.

"Dream with Me" about a city where "Black", "Brown", "Yellow", "Native" and "Whites" among others can live peace.
"Dream with Me" about the days when government was accountable and responsive to constituents concerns.

"Dream with Me" when "ideas" and "solutions", not "contributions" took priority in our local council offices.

"Dream with Me" about a Mayor who spend time in the city he was elected to serve.

"Dream with Me" when you could drive from the beach to desert through mountains in two hours.

"Dream with Me" about a utility that was efficient and not run buy a single "BOSS".

"Dream with Me" about a time in the barrio when a "Car Wash" meant just that, and not a symbol of another life lost to needless violence.
"Dream with Me" about the need for cynical symbolic exercises such as this........

That wasn't in the spirit of MLK, bonehead.

Not even close.

You defame a great man with your retarded antics.

40 years ago, you would have been screaming the "N" word from the cheap seats, and trying not to get drool stains on your pointy hood.

6:00: You lackey of Huizar and Reyes, who used the "spirit of MLK" right in the City Council, to attack "the hillside federations" for not letting him put his slums in their areas, for personal profit -- YOU attack Red Spot for "retarded antics?" If you want to use the word "retard" correctly, it rhymes with that idiot whose name starts with R. (Or, the one whose name ends with it?)

We know who who you are.

Let's not forget to remind our beloved mexican cholos of Los Angeles about what our city council proposed for this weekend.

The "Murder Moratorium", which will begin at 6:01 p.m. on Friday and end at 10:01 a.m. on Sunday -- will coincide with the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.

Make that "implant" not transplant -- there's nothing to remove to make room for the new one.

To all Democrats and Republicans:
If any politician is totally untainted by corruption he soon will be because that is how they play this game. You just have to hope YOUR guy understands this and is willing to fight against his own nature to succumb to power and corruption. Half of the world's leaders are criminals you know?

WHOEVER becomes president is going to have to deal with these creeps. SOMEONE HAS TO DO IT.

Some of you really disturb me. You're like frogs boiling in hot water who think it is too hopeless to even make an attempt to jump out. You're only response to the fact that your being boiled to death is "Gee, life sucks. I'm boiling to death. Hopeless."

The world sucks because some people are whiners and the other people make it to the top by slapping the whiners around.

GROW A SPINE!!! YA"LL IS MAD STUPID

What a shock the mexican cholos already violated the 40 hour ban on violence. The police are searching for a mexican gang member who shot at a police car in Boyle Heights. (Fox News Reports)

The city clowncil and mayor are illegal alien pandering pendejos.

Send in INS/INS and the National Guard and ship the illegal aliens back across the border. This is what will lower the crime rate. Just ask the residents of Colorado.

Our "Welfare State" has gone beyond true "need" to "entitlement".

Whomever made that decision should be drawn and quartered, no matter what party they belong to.

I thought that "City" and "County" politics was supposed to be non- partisan. Boy do I have a lot to learn.

What would I dream....that the color of our skin is the algamen of the best of the colors of those who came before us to make this country the best country in the world.

White, Black, Yellow, Brown and all of the shades of all of the colors in between are Americans.

We all came as alien immigrants; white, black, yellow or brown. We have interbred so that we have green eyed black men, white woman with all "negroid" features and we have the most beautiful children in the world.

When are we going to remember that we are all AMERICANS?

If you want to be an AMERICAN, its easy, just go home and apply.

The rest of us, welcome our new contributors, help them to become part of the great country we have.

No country/government has lasted as long as we, as about 200 years causes internal strife, and inability to come together to agree for the good of the country is the norm.

We are bordering very close to the same fates of the fall of Rome and other countries. I hope we are smarter to remember that we are responsible for the world we live in. Thats my dream.

Arizona is doing it right when it comes to immigration.

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-arizimmig5apr05,0,6857522.story

Arizona slams door on illegal immigrants.

PHOENIX -- As it has become the favorite entry point for undocumented migrants trying to sneak into the United States, Arizona has become a laboratory for whether a state can single-handedly combat illegal immigration

But enough immigrants have left that the government of Sonora, the Mexican state bordering Arizona, has complained about how many people have arrived on its doorstep.

9:22 AM That's interesting about Arizona. But, then a tougher door slamming was by New Mexico Governor Richardson, for calling out the National Guard to his border.

Katrina hit and his efforts evaporated. Does anyone have any information about where that went?

But, still, California is the weakest border state. There is no question about it. The LA Mayor is partly to blame but our Governor isn't doing his job, either.

I don't support the kind of bigoted rants that appear on this blog by the anonymouse here. She does seem to wear a white sheet and pointy hat. Mexicans and Central Americans are in the country, most are law abiding families, and we have to act like human beings and not wild animals when talking about and dealing with this.

However, we really need a sane immigration policy in California, which is in the WORST state of denial, and tough controls at our border.

I liked this post, because like the great leaders of the past, it made us think.

I mean, do we Latinos not deserve better than a carwash every time someone is gunned down?

Does the city not deserve more than lip service to our big problems?

I will make another point:

When we read Republicans falling over themselves to compare themselves to, praise, and sanctify, Ronald Reagan, well, we all laugh. Hahaha. Those demogogues.

When we read Turks doing the same to Ataturk, their semi-mythical leader, we laugh. It is so clear to us from 10,000 miles away what they are doing.

Can we not turn the same criticism on ourselves?

Sadly, a lot of the praise toward Dr. King comes from cynical politicians who just want an easy way to attach themselves to his legacy. Without doing anything.

Ditto for Robert Kennedy.

And the two are treated like gods, which is not healthy. See above re demogoguery.

This is why I agree with the poster that wrote earlier this week that Edward Headington's post was transparently cheasy.

(Yes, that's an A in cheasy Ed, because you are not cheesy like cheddar, you are cheasy like Chachi).

If we can't use a post like today's to stimulate genuine thought, we turn into mind-numbing automaton drones putting out pieces like Mr. Headington.

All praise Dr. King. What a unique thought.
