Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Wednesday

In an audit of City legal settlements Controller Laura Chick said :Los Angeles' approach to potential lawsuits is "reactionary and knee-jerk," often wasting taxpayer money in costly settlements and court judgments that could have been avoided. " Ya think?
The Pico Neighborhood Council is opposing the Mayor's Pico-Olympic traffic plan and is seeking signatures on its online petition.
LA County Supervisor Mike Antonovich reports that social spending on illegal immigrants was up $3 million from September in November.
The City of Los Angeles has won awards for its floats in the Tournament of Roses Parade only eight times in nearly 80 years. If you saw this year's uninspired entry of floral covered cargo ships you'll know why. Though I don't know if this parade entry featuring Clowncil members was any less ridiculous than this one.

Any time Zine gets too big for his britches (which he's wearing in a highly unusual way) trot that out...
Don't think Garcetti would want to be associated with that crowd in Obama promotions, either. As for poor Bill you gotta wonder: if gays want to depict themselves as regular joes who just bat for the other team...Wendy looks like she meant to go to Knotts Berry Farm, but ended up in the wrong parade.
Maybe next year they can get Zev and Molina in drag. Now that would be something to behold.
Speaking of Huizar, what is the current status of the CLARTS fund money? I think David Copperfield made it disappear. Now there's a story for you Mayor Sam Higby.
Dear City Council,
Please, please ask me before you're in any more parades. I will (for free) plan the concept and get some great designers to put together a fantastic entry for you that doesn't make you look foolish.
Again, I'll do it for free.
Signed,
Mayor Sam

Sr. Fat Boy, the artistic design is very cheap, all you have to do is have a competition among art/design students and select a winning design. Cal Poly spends no money in the artistic design of their float and their designs are used by other entries in the Rise Parade.
The real expense is in the "real" engineering and building of a fancy animated float. You need many engineering disciplines to design an animated float. You need experienced mechanical, hydraulic and electrical control systems engineers to design the actual working float. After the design you need a group of experienced drafting/designers to produce some engineering drawings.
You need lots of money buy the steel, hydraulic system, motor and drive system and electronic control systems. Now you need to hire a manufacturing company which has experience in building animated and moving equipment. This requires welders, mechanics, electricians and technicians. And since you are only building one of these machines you will have some engineering and design problems. After all of that cost now you have to pay people to do the floral selection and external design.
So in the end Mayor Sam your skills are not worth a damn and not needed to design a float. If you have very rich friends that would like to spend money that would help.
