Under Hyperion

JM, Under Hyperion, 12.21.07 / click image to enlarge

Joseph Mailander a guy in laelsewhereemail

While some shills for affordable housing developers (and the City Councilpeople they own) claim that constructing yurts would strip the homeless of dignity, the fact is that many homeless already live in makeshift yurts---by choice. Here's one, a glorified tent, under the Hyperion Bridge on Riverside in Atwater.

Note the ironic juxtaposition against the SUVs parked on the street. Note the shopping cart---the homeless' storage facility and transportation vehicle.

Right up the street, Tom LaBonge (this is his District) leaned on the DWP to provide round the clock security for---an ugly fountain.

In 2008, the City will offer voters another "Affordable Housing Bond"---a Bond for developers, which will perpetuate homelessness, and make sure that the money from the City's Affordable Housing Trust goes mostly to developers and contractors, even while turning affordable housing into a very hard-to-win lottery for homeless such as these.

I just read that every day in LA a homeless person dies on the street. I assume most of that is natural causes like freezing, accidentally hit by car, illness, injury. I'm inside a house right now and I'm cold. I can't imagine what it must be like for these people.

You're just repeated stuff from previous threads (and ignoring and even deleting there some good arguments people bothered to put forth). Yurt City, Tom's fountain...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

A whole thread on a cop car in front of Mt. Washington without any burros or brilliant posters having slightest clue what they're going on about.

Animal activists have targeted the Mayor's sister's home, Blackman's ex-wife's house, and it's likely his ex-wife is on the list. Any time there's a viable threat there is justification for this. Too bad you're not on the list -- you cam always get zuma mutt to paint his van black and white and park it outside your home.

Zuma may be selling his van for coffee and food money. He also needs bus fare, now that he won't ride with Mike Hunt (man, I laugh when I type his name)and Matt Dowd because their antics are too much for even that fool.

Thus, ZD is increasingly interested in the yurts; he is staking his claim to one within walking distance of the City Hall so he can continue to advise the Council and the BOS, as well as the LAUSD on their correct paths.

It is hard, since he is now up early to manage the NYSD, SEC and the Dow.

Think how fortunate we are to have a little of his wisdom here on Mayor Sam's former outstandng blog.

Think, where would LA be without the advice of this august trio of geniuses?

11:15pm,

That's right, I am up very early each day predicting the market trends for the day. I seem to have an uncanny knack for knowing what will open up 10% one way or the other at the bell...and i seem to be like rainman when it comes to picking tops and bottoms -- not only of stocks, but the DOW in general. Some of my friends are starting to see this, and they are starting to cash in.

it's not going to get me out of a financial hole, however, cause i don't have anything to invest.

but at least i've proved to myself I am an outstanding, phenomenal genius when it comes to predicting market cycles and trends - and hopefully it will come in handy for me someday, soon.

Keep struggling yourself, though. Sorry you are busy wearing long underwear, drunkie.

and to the crybaby who is crying to mayor sam -- you can't have it both ways bitch. you can't post anything and everything you want -- over and over -- AND cry to Mayor Sam that you can't take the heat?

So which one is it? I know you have a lot of time on your hands since you are not an elected official (not even at the NC level), but either find something else with your time...

or get ready for MUCH, MUCH more publicity. (on this blog and elsewhere.)

Welp, at least for once, you are in control. Your decision pal.

(And to the other inferior-minded ZD spinners...we know when it's him...so don't try and front. Or it'll backfire on your bosses face. JUST ASK HIM...HE'LL TELL YOU. I THINK HE ALREADY DID.)

Questions for Joe concerning Yurt Town:

Where exactly is this land "along the river south of Downtown?" Do you have Assessor's Parcel Numbers, or at least some cross-streets?

Who owns the land? If the City does not own it, how long will it take to acquire it? Can it be acquired through eminent domain?

Do the yurts comply with building codes? Does the entire development comply with zoning codes? If not, how long will it take to change the building codes, change the zoning codes, and/or rezone the site? What are the political ramifications of such efforts?

Who will maintain and police the yurts and the grounds they sit on? Taxpayers?

What policies must be put into place to force the homeless off Skid Row and into yurts?

How would social services be provided in Yurt Town? Who would pay for them?

Joe, you bring up Yurt Town every so often on this blog but you are woefully short on details. If you are truly behind this concept, you will answer these questions.

Political will cannot rise from ambiguous, half-baked pleasantries, even if accompanied by heart-breaking photographs.
