Saturday morning "Breakfast Bits" from the "RED SPOT INSTITUTE"

Good Saturday morning from the Institute high above the "BLUE SEA" of government junkies in CD 14. For your viewing pleasure, we give you this lovely shot of Elephant Hill in "PUEBLO DE SERENO".

It seems that the "MIXING" of a full moon, alcohol, computer keyboard and a lurking "SANCHO" has someone spilling their "BROKEN HEART". This makes for "BLOGGIN GOOD ENTERTAINMENT". So let this be the "DR. PHIL THREAD OF THERAPY".

On to the news.

DOWNTOWN NEWS ONLINE:
Always fun to watch a "WEEKLY LOCAL FISHWRAP" out report the "OLD GREY HAG ON SPRING STREET". The Downtown weekly continues its reporting on the fiasco that is the Rec. and Park Quimby Fund. This week, Rec. and Parks admits that land they were looking at for park space is no longer available.
DAILY NEWS:
City Councilwoman Janice Hahn will not give up her dream of "TAXING OUT THE GANG PROBLEM". She will place her "PARCEL TAX" on the November 2008 ballot. Meanwhile, we have a sighting of the "GENERAL SECRETARY OF GANG INTERVENTION", the Rev. Carr.

QUESTION OF THE DAY:
What will be the final resolution to the Elephant Hill affair ?? It seems that El Sereno is always a fertile area for thought, and quite diverse at that. Blog away, enjoy your Bruin win and the demise of the Trojans.

You really must watch the report by Channel 2's investigative reporter David Goldstein on how a "charity" used an "affordable housing" program to rip-off you, the taxpayer. To see it, click here.

Goldstein reports that the Esperanza "charity" obtained "surplus property" from Caltrans in order to provide "affordable housing" to "low-income" households. Sounds nice, doesn't it? But Goldstein caught the director of the "charity" living in one of those homes and, indeed, driving her beautiful new BMW out of the drive She admitted on camera, moreover, that her family is not a "low-income" household.

Esperanza charity run by a real estate broker!

Then-Caltrans Director James W. Van Loben Sels enunciated this same logic in a May 1995 memo. After a Los Angeles Times expose uncovered dozens of unneeded houses still in agency hands, the local Caltrans office argued they should hang on to all of them, presumably to play if safe in case the freeway path changed and they would have to pay top dollar for land they just unloaded at rock-bottom prices. Loben Sels disagreed: “It is imperative,” he said, “that Caltrans divest itself of any property not absolutely required. We should be looking at reason to dispose of, rather than retain property.”

He seemed to have won a half-victory. The 21 surplus houses have a market value of $5.7 million.

The majority of homes that Caltrans parted with were in South Pasadena and even there controversy shadowed it.

A dozen of them were released in a single batch to a non profit called Esperanza Charities, which had proposed using the structures for developmentally disabled tenants. Two homeowner groups and South Pasadena in 1997 sued to block the deal, claiming it lacked environment review, good judgment for the neighborhood and smart business practice since selling them en masse produced less than selling them individually.

In the end, Esperanza capitulated, making only two of the 11 in South Pasadena for disabled tenants. Despite speculation that Esperanza converted the homes to market-rate, all of them remain fixed in the affordable range, according to Joseph Borda, the charity's founder. “The houses were in horrible shape when he bought them,” he said.

Hoody Hooo , some good news more arrest and suspects sought by the police for killing baby in Westlake. And other gang members were charged with witness intimidation

Four more gang members charged in infant's killing. One of the men is in custody, while the three others are wanted in the shooting of the 23-day-old baby near MacArthur Park last month.

By Anna Gorman, Los Angeles Times

Staff Writer
October 27, 2007

The Los Angeles County district attorney's office charged four more gang members Friday in the killing of a 23-day-old baby near MacArthur Park last month.

One of the men, Juan Pablo Murillo, is in custody. Three others, Giovanni Macedo, Juvenal Cardenas Mejia and Guadalupe Torres Rangel, are wanted. A fifth man, Luis Silva, was arrested and charged days after the shooting.

The men, all members of the 18th Street gang, have been charged with murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to commit both murder and extortion.

The men could all face the death penalty, though prosecutors have not decided whether to seek it.

On Sept. 15, the infant, Luis Angel Garcia, was hit by a stray bullet as his mother and hundreds of other shoppers strolled amid the stores and outdoor vendors near the corner of 6th Street and Burlington Avenue.

Authorities said the gunmen were targeting a street vendor on 6th Street near MacArthur Park who had refused to pay $50 in "rent." The vendor, Francisco Clemente, also was shot, as was the baby's mother and the vendor's girlfriend.

Gary Hearnsberger, who heads the hard-core gang unit of the district attorney's office, said Murillo was the leader of one of the crews of the 18th Street gang.

"We've done a substantial job in taking the people from 18th Street who are taxing and extorting money from the vendors out of that area," he said.

Hearnsberger said he was hopeful that authorities would track down the other three defendants, even though they believe one or more might have fled to Mexico. "We're always hopeful that we can bring these people to justice," he said.

According to the complaint, Mejia and Murillo met on Sept. 15 and discussed collecting rent from street vendors in MacArthur Park and talked about a street vendor who had refused to pay rent or "taxes." Murillo told Mejia that he would fix the "problem."

Macedo got a gun and all five met near 6th and Burlington. Macedo began shooting, hitting Clemente and killing Luis, according to the complaint, which said some of the defendants had been demanding money from vendors since January.

In addition, the district attorney's office filed charges Friday in a case against two others for discouraging a witness to the killing from cooperating with police.

Who is Jim Murez from Venice Neighborhood council?

I had a run in with him yesterday at the neighborhood congress.

Here is a person who has no sense or believes he is entitled to act like a complete ass.

HE sits against the back wall with a laptop computer. Out of eyesight of anyone first entering the room. He stretches his legs as far as he can and then he places his monitor as far forward as it can go so he can read it. I happen to not see him sit there and I turn left to walk in front of him oblivious to his presence as he entered the room while my back was turned.

All I hear is Excuse me... Excuuuse me.... apparently I had brushed up against his monitor and it looked like he may have dropped his laptop. I turn and look at him and he continues on as he ASKS very sarcastically;
"Didn't you see me?" I say no and he continues his very sarcastic quotes. As he continues to look at me like he wants to pick a fight I stare back at him and ask him why he would extend his monitor as far out as it was and his legs. A place where everyone has to walk in front of him to get seated , with no ample room to walk , unless you push up against his monitor. HE seems so amazed at this question as if he has all of the right in the world to sit there. I have to leave the room and as I am trapped between a person standing there talking to someone else in front of where he is sitting and the only avenue out a DONE employee sees the situation and I tell her I can't get through.

HE ever so rudely states, " That maybe if you lost I lost weight you wouldn't have a problem getting by" The DONE employee asks me to just stay calm and ignore him . Jim MUrez begins to ask the DONE employee for security and she declines , since he was the one who continued to try and pick fights through the whole Planning and Land USE meeting at the Congress.

I can see why venice is in bad shape. With assholes like Jim Murez , one can only hope it can get better , because it sure seems like people like him picking fights with those of us who have no idea why he would do such a thing is ridiculous . I have photos of him flipping me off as I leave the room.

There are soooooo many corrupt non profits in this city yet the council do nothing but keep giving them more money. In some areas more then $1 BILLION dollars is given from the state, federal and city to the area yet they still have the same gang problem, kids dropping out of school etc. The only people doing better are the ones running the programs and their board of directors. How can someone running a non profit afford to drive a Mercedes???? Also, most of the people running the non profits have closer ties to council person in that area. Go figure!!!

Gee, only 350 showed up to Congress of Neighborhoods. Could it be that NC's know that this meeting is organized by the Mayor's people and are a waste of time with workshops given by people who have been instructed not to tell the people the truth??

During the ninth Congress of Neighborhoods on Saturday, the question was not how the city's 89 neighborhood councils can get power, but how to wield their increasing influence.

....Some 350 people attended workshops at the four-hour convention on themes ranging from how to get what you want from city departments to how to craft a media message - signs that neighborhood councils are getting more sophisticated and flexing their political muscles

LA32 covers the El Sereno Community only (thus the very "creative" name since their zip code is 90032) it has about 54,000 and the f'ng moron president is hugo garcia and he is a total waste of time- he made it possible to get rid of the last loser just to become a bigger loser in that position. His biggest worry right now is how to clean up after his buddy marcos aguilar (spit) and kissing up to the rose hills area of el sereno because he is afraid of the reps on the board from that area....another loser trying to become somebody...

the vp is ray gutierrez another wannabe somebody... the frik and frak show.

Now, Mr. President Garcia, LA32 NC, do not dilute yourself and think that 5 people in the audience at your last general meeting lacking quorum (two meetings in a row now!) represented 50 members. It is ludicrous and insulting to have driven not only good people on your board away but also community members who had the best intentions to support you when you decided to go after the last loser (Acosta) and lying to all of us that you were the best thing since sliced bread. And by the way, your Social Justice Committee, which you run because its chair is never there and you knew that was going to happen, is just a way to continue your MEChA ways; funny, you were a nobody in college and like Marlon Brando said boy (you) could have been somebody; I (you) should have been somebody but it never happened with you - guess old habits die hard!

Marcos Aguilar has strong influence in LA32. Free or cheap land for his next madrassa school. If he can't get part of DEBS Park, then threre is always City Redevelopment Property on a adjacent hill, or putting the squeeze on the owner of Elephant Hill for a piece of the his land with the threat of emminent domain.

Marcos Aguilar is working with the Environmental Group Northeast trees on "environmental Curriculum" for the Hazard park Wetlands Project. People who were supported of the Project now are taking back their support. Further, NET would not allow community members to paetake in ameeting between L.A. City Parks and Rec.and NET to discuss funding of project.

2006 expose

Here's some more info re Aguilar....

He is the only person listed on TITLE. All mail for the school goes to Aguilar's home address in Alhambra. LA RAZA Development Corp. borrowed $185,000 on the property on Huntington Dr. South last year.

The property was purchased in 2001 for $800,000. It was an ALL CASH purchase from a Mr. Vasguez. Vasquez only owned this property for 6 MONTHS, AND HE ONLY PAID $250,000 for it!!!!!!!

Vasquez made a tidy profit of $550,000 IN A PERIOD OF SIX MONTHS.

This school bears further investigation. An audit must be one because it looks like some heavy duty embezzeling is taking place. We have to follow the money trail, and you can bet it will lead to Aguilar's best friend, AV. Not to mention Jose Huizar.

POCKETS ARE BEING LINED, MY FRIENDS. AND IT WILL BE A SHOCKER!

THIS IS SO BIG IT WILL BRING VILLARAIGOSA DOWN, ALONG WITH ALL THE MEXICAN MAFIA.

STAY TUNED.

Of his ass he made a trumpet: Marcos Aguilar
Published by Eleazar ben Yair.

"Ultimately the White way, the American way, the neo liberal, capitalist way of life will eventually lead to our own destruction. And so it isn’t about an argument of joining neo liberalism, it’s about us being able, as human beings, to surpass the barrier."

Don't be ashamed to be Latino, look at all the facts first. Antonio and most of those "Latinos" in office right now gave up their ethnic credentials when they hired non-Latinos to be their consultants, fundraisers and campaign managers. Just look at the list, not one Latino among these power brokers that pull all the strings. They tend to be of a certain ethnic demographic, but I don't want to name it for fear of being labeled an anti-semite because some of my best friends are Jewish. These political advisors have turned Latino politics on its head and strive to decrease turnout instead of increasing it - ever wonder why less than 1 in 10 of those ellgible to vote actually do in Latino politcal races? And this goes way back - check and see who was pulling Alatorre's, Hernandez' and Alarcon's srings - non Latinos.

History will judge all these politicians. We are in a dark era with regards to Latino politics. But here is a light a the end of the tunnel. Don't group these "vendidos" into our category just yet. Find out first where their true loyalties stand.

The "SCAM ALERT" should be focused on this blog and, especially, most of the posts by Red Spot and the comments they generate. I never thought I'd say that comments about USC and UCLA lamely losing football games would be more pertinent than those about local civic activities. This stuff is neighborhood insider BS from someplace nobody else ever visits or cares about, and totally a waste of time.

You are asking for it with all your deletions.

Your readers deserve to know that you are as big a chicken as ZD.

Only insecure folks need to delete posts that are critical of them.

You really are the red spot girls look for in their panties at certain times of the month. What a pussy.

Put it back up so he can get the info, instead of defending your lame buddy ZD, who also deletes posts that tell the truth about him and his weird persona.

Show us you have some huevos.

11:42 is the kind you'll get if the crazies you rule this blog have their way.

The one who thinks MAV is too Oreo Cookie, not "Latino enough" because his "strings are being pulled by Jews who don't really want Latinos to rule L A."

I guess when the city becomes
"Hispanic Enough" for this Mecha, we'll have a tiny upper class living in fear behind gates and armored cars, while huge masses of illiterate peasants and communists rule the streets with their drug gangs, crooked cops and corruption at every level. When everyone not Hispanic is shut out because no one is more racist than the "real Latino."

Sounds like it's already happening, just not fast enough to suit them.

Keep helping this along, idiot Sam and Antonio WAtch and Wet Spot and smelly dawg. You're trying to get rid of the last bridge to society as we knew it, here come your Mechas, smella zuma dawg already in the lead when it comes to LAUSD and his leading this pack in CD14.

Meanwhile, keep deleting, keep hating without facts, rousing the riff-raff.

If you wanna post something about Jim, go ahead...but make sure you don't accidentally tell some lies about ZD that has NOTHING to do with Jim. How you can mix in lies and B.S. about ZD in a discussion about Jim is ponderous...f*cking ponderous.

So if you have something to say about Jim, go ahead. If you have something to say about Zuma Dogg, go ahead. But any blatant lies will be deleted and you'll lose the whole post. KEEP IT ON POINT. Don't use your description on Jim to somehow attack ZD with unfounded lies. (You don't like it...lunk it!)

As a Latino I find it shameful shameful that we have so many Latino politicans in this city yet look at the state of it. Every area where there's Latino representation is worst then before they got in. Every one including Villaraigosa, Huizar, Reyes, Alarcon, Cardenas, Molina, Nunez, Becerra, Roybal Allard, Romero Cedillo districts they rep all look like TJ. Not one of them has helped clean up the blight, gangs, illegals, trash, graffitti, traffic, hit and run drivers, and the list goes on. You would think with all these Latinos they would have made a HUGE impact. But no, they care nothing about their own people and just collect a paycheck

Well, I feel better now about Red Spot not deleting posts. I take it back, Red Spot, and I apologize about the quip.

It seems that ZD, the chickenshit, has been deleting posts to others' postings, specifically this one.

It is pretty ironic that the illiterate grammar school drop out feels that he can drop in on others' conversations and censor.

This is the same fool that stands up and demands his constitutional rights at public meetings and then proceeds to sing song ads for his website, for his "shows" where he embarrasses himself in public by demonstrating his lack of knowledge about anything having to do with how government works, now believes that censoring really works. When it is his speech that is being censored, he whines like a baby.

Well, guess what, ZD. You keep deleting this post and I'll keep posting it until everyone reads it one time or another, and they'll all know the truth. That is that you are afraid of the truth.

Remember, "The truth shall set you free" and learn to live with it.

If the guy who wants to know about Murez is reading, post your email address and I'll send you all the info about his community collective market, his computer business and his many, many failed appeals to multiple governmental agencies. Like I said, he is a smarter, better educated ZD, who doesn't smell or look as bad or act quite as foolishly, but is still a gadfly, like ZD.
