SHADY AVALANCHE ALERT! Los Angeles Mayor/Hillary Clinton Co-Chair Antonio Villaraigosa On A Rampage

PROGRAMMING NOTE: Kevin James (9p-11p) on AM 870 - KRLA has been RED HOT, lately. (Even more than usual.) He was hitting on all the issues familiar to Mayor Sam readers, and although I missed it, Big Joe told me he mentioned this blog, last night. So check him out in your car 9p-11p on AM 870, or more likely you will be at home, so check out the show online HERE. (And of course, y'all know about Doug on KABC, John & Ken on KFI & Mr. K on K-Talk (Air America, as everyone calls it to ZD.)

Tax-Waster/Increaser Antonio Loserosa's Memo To Council Regarding "Modern Communications Tax" for February '08 Ballot.

Zuma Times Says Daily News Got It Wrong on Union Hike Amount THEY SAY 13%..Zuma Times says more like 25%. ZT has better sources, though.

From dailynews.com: "The contract will now go before a union vote and then return to the council for final approval. Contract details were expected to remain secret until the first union meetings, tentatively set for Friday. But it is believed to be for at least a 13 percent increase over the life of the contract."

But Zuma Dogg of ZumaTimes.com says it will be more like 25% over five years. And we all know ZD’s sources are better than City Council’s.

And CM Janice Hahn: You gotta stop quoting your info from other less credible media sources like newspapers, and stick to Zuma Dogg's "Zuma Times". That way, Karen Sisson will not have to correct you on camera during the Council meetings. (Or Janice, you can just call me direct. (310) 928-7544.

Meanwhile, here's an audio version of the Daily News story for Antonio so he doesn't have to try and read it.

WHERE'S THE LAUSD "AUDIT COMMITTEE"? It seems to have been left off this year's committe listings. Must be a typo. And, is former LAUSD School Board Prez Jose Huizar School Board Prez again, calling shots to Rookie Prez Monica Garcia through Amy Cooper? Amy is short-term Huizar staffer who may have been groomed to help call shots between Huizar and Garcia. CLICK HERE

Captain Jack Seconds ZD's Concerns Over A Checklist of New & Shady Taxes for February Ballot. (Oh no...No time for public vetting!)

I haven't even dug myself out of the email avalanche of shadiness that was dumped in my zumadogg@gmail.com inbox from yesterday (and over the weekend), and when I woke up today, it was another blizzard of shadiness dumped upon the 15 districts. (Affecting the enitre county and region, if not country.)

So it's time to fire-up all the associated ZD blogs (zumatimes/neighborhoodcouncil/villaraigosa/etc.blogspot.com) -- and go with the flow. So I'll post updates here, but if you haven't done a "Google alert" for "zuma-dogg", and you want to see it all, make an alert now. And to all the people who have sent me info about NC shadiness and all the local community issues I have not been getting to...time to let the good times roll...I'm gonna be posting MORE stuff from the people (on these various blogs), because it DOES seem that Villar is on a desparate, acelerated shady-fast track to raise a lot of money (to cover the budget gap) -- and he's launching more non-profits out of his City Hall mayor office than Guidestar.

So I guess it's time to hold my Ultraman "beta capsule" in the air and proclaim...

CITIZENS' ALERT...CITIZEN'S ALERT!!! THIS IS NOT A TEST...THIS IS NOT A TEST...

Villaraigosa is on a taxing frenzy, a spending frenzy (when it comes to him), he's trying to take over the entire city via new non-profits "partnerships"...and the bond rating is about to bottom-out. (Simply on the realest, dough!)

Ticker tape of shadiness updates, between Mayor Sam updates [Not taking away from Mayor Sam...it's to handle the overload. I don't wanna hold back the info people are providing me...and it's waaaaay too much for this blog, where I am one writer of many.]

Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen (tips hat and bows low with flourish):

Sots, did you see me last evening at the Red Mass? (Coughs and tries to wave smoke away from face) Talk about holy smoke, there was quite a bit of that throughout the church service. And it was equally interesting to see who amongst the elected leadership was there, and of course who was not. (Turns and speaks to Bard) Bard, did you see His Nibbs there last evening? (Bard shakes head in negative) The Rocktard? (Bard shakes head in negative) Don Jose? (Bard shakes head in negative) Any of the Clowncil? (Bard shakes head in negative) (Captain Jack looks at nails and raises eyebrows) Now why do you suppose none of those and their ilk came to the Red Mass? (Smiles) Yet today there is sure to be all sorts of messages from the “Don’t pick on them because their poop does not stink but Zuma Dogg’s does” crowd extolling the virtues of said blog targets. (Whispers confidentially) Sots, it’s a sad day when a bunch of pirates can manage to make it to Mass but your bosses can’t, savvy? But let’s not talk about that. Let’s talk about something else, shall we?

Last evening after Mass, we (many of us and some Fives) walked the short distance from the cathedral to Chinatown and stopped off to have supper with Madame Wu. And who should be sitting near to us but a certain young man we recognized from the 3rd floor and his female colleague. They were discussing the meeting whereby a number of sots sat ‘round a table and discussed how to raise money and, if you will, a series of “last minute taxes” will be thrown on the February ballot. The phone tax, the parcel tax, the professional license tax, the sewer tax, the administrative fee tax, the veterinarian tax for the purported funding of care and feeding of animals in City shelters, the imposition of a separate City sales tax, student bus pass tax, entertainment tax for going to the movies as if going to the movies isn’t expensive enough, savvy? This sot says in between mouthfuls of wonton soup,“What I hate is the fact that it’s a tax without proper vetting and referendum, rushed onto the ballot before the general public has a chance to object, dressed up as something good to help the City but the monies going into other coffers. And its so last minute! It’s not fair, but that’s what they think so that’s what we have to do. Come up with some way to market these things and make them all touchy-feely so that the general public feels good about allowing their hard earned dollars to be stolen out from underneath them. Thank God I live in (an adjacent city) so I don’t have to put up with this crap where I live.” (Captain Jack’s jaw drops) Bloody hell! A sot with a conscience? Surely he must be the only one? (Grins slyly) All a pirate needs is one soft heart to leave the door open, savvy? Are there any more sots out there like him? (Scans horizon) Let’s see what the sots have to say for themselves, shall we and then we’ll make a decision.

Interesting!!!!! Its said the clowncil will campaign for these taxes the same sneaky, deceitful way they did with Prop R. AARP needs to speak out against these taxes for the senior citizens who can't afford it because they are on a fixed income. Shameful bastards

SoCal ICE Sweep Nets 1,300 Illegal Immigrants
October 3, 2007

Federal officials plan to house a news conference Wednesday morning to discuss a recent sweep of some 1,300 illegal immigrants in the Southland.

The immigrants have been arrested in Southern California in the past two weeks. Most of them have criminal records or are subject to deportation orders that they had ignored. The sweep was carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at homes ... workplaces and in jails in Los Angeles ... Orange ... Ventura ... Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

The Los Angeles Times reports Wednesday monring that nearly 600 of the 1-thousand-327 immigrants arrested have already been deported. ICE officials say the sweep was the biggest of its kind ever conducted in the United States.

Welcome back Homeboy

A new facility for Father Boyle's celebrated anti-gang organization opens with joy and a hint of tragedy.

October 3, 2007

Nine years ago, The Times surveyed some of Los Angeles' most thoughtful, civic-minded leaders for their ideas on what ailed this city. Most responded with insights into the power structure -- the authority of the mayor, frustrations with the City Council and the Board of Supervisors and the like. Father Gregory Boyle saw it differently. "If government's heart could be broken by the things that break the heart of God," he said, "then government would be better."

Boyle knows what he's talking about when he contemplates the landscape of heartbreak. In his ministry to L.A.'s gang members, he has buried 156 of his flock. He struggled through what he refers to as the "decade of death" -- the years from 1988 to 1998, when gang violence took a devastating toll in Los Angeles and beyond. And he has been forced to move Homeboy Industries, which he founded to help those amid that violence, four times, most recently because its Boyle Heights headquarters was destroyed by a fire.

How Not to Run A City- Los Angeles

Under the stewardship of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the city of Los Angeles has sunk deeper into the muck and cemented its position as a national laughingstock. This week, the LA City Council reached a financial settlement with ex-firefighter, Tennie Pierce on his claim of racial mistreatment by his colleagues. The settlement is a textbook case of financial mismanagement of the tax-payers money.

In 2004, Pierce, while on duty at the Westchester Fire Station, had his spaghetti dinner topped with dog food by his fellow fire fighters. Pierce, a 51 year old African-American, did not find the prank humourous and proceeded to file a multi- million dollar lawsuit against the city based on racial grounds.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the fire station, like most others in LA, had a culture of pranksterism within its ranks. In fact, photos emerged of other firehouse pranks in which Pierce was a participant. One showed Pierce shaving the genital area of a fellow firefighter. It was also revealed that Pierce, who stands 6' 5", had given himself the nickname, "The Big Dog", and that he commonly called out: "Feed the Big Dog!" during firehouse volleyball games. The Fire Department and the city defended themselves by claiming that it was a harmless prank, one of many conducted by all the personnel including Pierce. Pierce and his supporters said that the prank had to do with his race, and that he was unable to continue his career with the LAFD due to his feelings of humiliation. Pierce's attoney brought in a sociology professor, David Wellman from the University of California at Santa Cruz who helped prepare the case. After studying the charges and looking through old LAFD files, Wellman concluded that the dog food was a symbol of the times when blacks were considered less than human, and that the spaghetti all'Alpo was part of a pattern of racism within the department. (Well, what did you expect a sociology professor from UC Santa Cruz to conclude?)

A few months ago, the LA City Council, a collection of mostly empty suits, came to an agreement to pay off Pierce 2.7 million dollars. An immediate negative reaction ensued from the public, kept up to breast of the case by radio DJs, John and Ken of KFI who heeped ridicule on Pierce, his attorney and the City Council. In the aftermath, Mayor Villaraigosa vetoed the settlement, one of the few fiscally responsible things he has done in office, and the city prepared to defend itself in court hiring a private law firm to assist in their case.

Well, this week, the City Council decided not to take their chances in court. Apparently, that law firm advised them that they would probably lose with a "downtown" jury. So now, the Council has approved a $1.43 million dollar settlement with back pay and retirement for Pierce. Opponents of the payout maintain that this was nothing more than a racial shakedown and the city should have stood and fought the case.

So what did the city gain from backing away from a 2.7 million deal and settling on the 1.43 million dollar deal? To hear the city fathers describe it, they have saved LA almost 1.5 million in payout by cutting the figure. But not so fast. What about that law firm that the city hired? They are also collecting 1.4 million in taxpayer funds for their "services". So much for a wide stewardship of the public's money.

Meanwhile, Mayor Villaraigosa, the laughingstock of LA, who has visions of being governor and maybe president someday (if the rest of the country doesn't hear about his antics as mayor), goes merrily on his way trying to get the public's attention off of his paramour, Univision reporter, Mirthala Salinas and his messy divorce. The latest ruse is his "million trees" planning project, with the actual number of trees planted hundreds of thousands below that number and thousands missing.

In addition, Villaraigosa is now proposing an "emergency referendum" by which the city would reduce its telephone utility tax from 10% to 9% for city residents. Sounds generous, right? Only until you consider that the tax is the object of three lawsuits as being illegal and likely to be thrown out-unless of course, the voters approve a tax of 9%. Now you see it, now you don't. Bill Clinton would be proud. The tax revenue at stake to the city is $270 million dollars, much needed in order to continue providing services to LA's ever growing illegal alien community.

What's in your wallet?

One of the strongest critics is Councilman Greig Smith, who proposed a motion that would instruct the mayor to call an emergency congress of neighborhood councils to discuss the ballot measure. "We should have been talking to stakeholders about this for months," said Smith

AT least Smith is trying to speak for the people. The bunch of bafoons in council and the Cholo Mayor want to tax the people because they have wasted millions on bullshit. Because they don't know how to spend our tax dollars to make up for their incompetency its easy to go to the people for more money. I say HELLLL NOOOO

Gang Banger Father Boyle's gang members are still active. Leave it to idiots at LA Slimes not to report the facts. Many of Boyle's employed gang bangers have been arrested for crimes. With all the millions Boyle gets why is there such a huge gang problem right in the community where he's at? Cause the gang bangers don't respect or listen to him. Boyle makes excuses for them and idiots like Antonio supports him cause when Laura Chick's audit comes out if its not tainted people will see how much money Boyle gives in campaign donations.

Last year, during the height of the LAPD Rampart corruption scandal, Jesuit Priest Gregory Boyle wrote an article for the Los Angeles Times titled, "We Have Met the Monster, and It Is Us". The article was very critical of Chicana Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina because of comments she made during a press interview concerning Chicano youths who were being arrested, beaten up and framed by the LAPD. One of her comments was, "after all, they aren't exactly the pillars of the community." Fr. Gregory Boyle went on to give a story about two nurses who were transporting a dead Chicano "Gang Banger" full of tatoos to the organ harvesting ward of the local hospital. One white nurse looks at the deceased "Vato" and turns to the other and says "Who would want this monster's heart?"

The article made some waves in Los Angeles because the Catholic Church rarely speaks out against LAPD police brutality cases involving Chicano youths. La Voz de Aztlan was very happy to hear that the Catholic Church was finally showing some courage and standing up for our oppressed barrios and for justice. We went out of our way to link Fr. Boyle's article in La Voz de Aztlan but then two Catholic Church related "bombshells" exploded in the Los Angeles area. The first was involving Cardinal Roger Mahoney and numerous corrupt Chicano elected officials. The Los Angeles Times wrote about Cardinal Mahoney lobbying for the notorious crack cocaine dealer Carlos Vignali for a pardon with President Clinton. Many prominent Chicano politicians were implicated as well. Congressman Xavier Becerra took $25,000 dollars and was on the phone with Bill Clinton on the day he issued a pardon to release Vignali from prison. Cardinal Mahoney was then collecting money to build his enormous cathedral in downtown Los Angeles and it is believed that he may have received money from Horacio Vignali as well. The Archdioecese has been very quiet about the whole matter. La Voz de Aztlan published a political cartoon by Sergio Hernandez on the incident that may have angered the Church because we received two e-mails from Jesuit Priest Gregory Boyle requesting that we remove his article.

We are now sincerely wondering what Fr. Gregory Boyle really meant by "We Have Met the Monster, and It Is Us". Why has Fr. Gregory Boyle requested that La Voz de Aztlan remove his article from our website? Has he been pressured by his homosexual brethern in the priesthood because of our editorials against the homosexual lifestyle? Since we have been covering the Zionism equals racism issue, perhaps the attempt by Loyola Law School to cancel the recent Palestinian Solidarity Forum may provide a clue!

Or perhaps, "We Have Met the Monster, and It Is Us", was simply a confession to the public at large? La Voz de Aztlan does not know who priests confess to. Do they confess to another priest or to a bishop or maybe to a cardinal or do they do it directly to God like we all should? If it is not a confession and merely a judgement, then La Voz de Aztlan would like to remind this holy man of the cloth of the following passage in the Bible that says, "why do you look at the splinter in your brother's eye, when you have a plank in yours!"

What if I'm RIGHT, y'all. Like Billy Joel once said..."You may be right. I may be crazy."

It hasn't happend yet (it will tomorrow, and you'll read it hear first when it is official)...but based on my batcomputer prediction software -- and knowing what it has predicted in the past, for me...

...I decided to roll the dice -- trust in my software predicton simulator -- and have some fun, calling some extra attention to the fact that I think it will be more like 25%, rather than 13%, as reported by Daily News. I LOVE the Daily News...they can't help it...they haven't pounded the pavement and immersed theyselves in the community to be rewarded with the top level of info that ZD is blessed with (whether I like it, or not). So THEY have to based THEIR information on City Council. (And CC couldn't figure out/find credible information to give you, if they WANTED to.)

So I'll go with "the realest, dough" -- over CM spin, anyday.

And oh no...if my batcomputer predicted the percentage correctly and it IS around 25%.

Well then my batcomputer will sure have some added cred, next time around. and at that level...you're pretty high up.

YIKES!!! HOPE IT ISN'T 25%. Then I'll have to start believing all the other predictions that I didn't actually believe, previously, that will have much more cred with ZD.

But again, computers aren't perfect.
