Mickey Kaus continues to file reports for a broader audience on the latest developments in our sizzling summer soap, joining Mayor Sam’s Joseph Mailander, Saturday, in questioning the motivations behind a strange LAT write-up on Telemundo reporter Mirthala Salinas.Elsewhere on the 'net, Luke Ford has posted audio of a recent KABC appearance by Eric Longabardi of ERSNews. Longabardi claims a member of Mayor Villaraigosa’s security detail was allowed to bypass the normal recruitment process, and he'd like to know why.
By the way, Ford is right: ERSNews rocks. When Longabardi’s exclusive story of a secret rendezvous between the Mayor and Ms. Salinas found its way into the mainstream news rotation Friday, I realized I was very, unfashionably late to the Longabardi party; the man has solid sources and is to be taken seriously.
Speaking of secret dinner dates, others are now questioning the Mayor's use of public resources in relation to his private escapades, but I've had an evolution of opinion on this, and I would love to know how my take jives with yours.
My guess is, most of us would agree that running around on your wife accompanied by taxpayer-funded security crosses some undefined ethical line. On the other hand, would we have preferred the Mayor cruise the mean streets of L.A. unprotected, as he is reported to have done the night of the Ameriquest jet ride?
At a minimum, it was unfair of him to put us in the position of pondering this issue, but now, with the Mayor officially separated from his wife, is it not completely appropriate—if not the responsible thing—for security to escort LA's favorite new bachelor on dates with his girlfriend?
I say it is.

I must agree - WHO would actually bother sniping at Villar? And even they must not take the potential "threat" too seriously - did you see those photos over at ERSNews? Pretty puny "security" people ... Villar is a midget and the "security" types are no bigger than he is ... it looks like the munchkins have arrived.

Daily News I give a lot of credit for breaking a story that no one would touch. Once that happened everyone was in on it. I don't know what's worst if Antonio didn't get invited to the big Beckham bash because he made it known he doesn't support LA Galaxy that is getting publicity and attention all over the nation or the fact that a Mayor would rather support a team from MEXICO then the city he's mayor of Los Angeles.

Okay - are you saying this Anita Ortega is the person in the photos on ERS News with Villar? They really do not look anything alike....
PEOPLE LISTEN UP. The name people are throwing around is ANITA MORENO. Big difference from Capt. Anita Ortega who is an African American and is much higher in rank to be working with a detail.
Only in LA are there politicans who could give a shit less about public safety. They waste millions on everything from gang programs, special event waivers, studies, and so much bullsit yet instead of helping out the law enforcement dept. they make them give something up to get what they need. No other city treats their law enforcement so badly. Laura Chick N Shit forgot to collect $165 million in traffic fines, DWP spent over $90 million in OT on bogus documents, council goves money to gang bangers and sits and does nothing when they get arrested. Stupid is as Stupid Does.

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen (tips hat and turns steak over on grille):
Sots, do you know the identity of the one among you that gets real talkative after a bit of liquor has been pumped into him? Surely you know which City Hall sot I'm speaking of, savvy? We pirates have been pestering him for quite some time to let us take him out and have a drink (or five) on us. And the sot FINALLY bit, so we got him nice a liquored up on Saturday night. What did he have to say? Plenty.
Apparently, the Rocktard's investigators have known about His Nibbs's paramours for quite some time. And know these women well, they do. One might want to ask the City Attorneys investigators what sort of crimes these ladies committed and under pressure from His Nibbs "looked the other way and did not prosecute...", savvy?
We tried to ask the sot to name names, but he threw up in the Bard's cap and passed out. So much for him!
And I'm sure the reverse is also true, IF this is true: that there is a lot more known about Rocktard than has come out so far...the guy can't take a step without shooting himself in the foot/face, whatever
...Now he's finally come out of hiding after 3 weeks, gave a lame Press Conference on how great he's doing at fighting gangs (yeah, why they're going down like flies in Panorama City, and elsewhere -- that's two of the D N's top stories for the day, by the way -- Rocky went to some store in Panorama City, persuaded them to get rid of the gangs who hang out there, and hightailed it out of Dodge before dark...only problem is, the store owners say the hoods/hookers only moved literally a few yards away, and Rocky hasn't been seen since.)
The LAPD assigned extra cops to the area, but the residents would rather a dying body rot in front of their eyes than call the cops.
And since Rocktard has alienated everyone from Baca to Bratton to the Mayor to the DA, all he can do is call photo ops, then hide again: Infamous or invisible, that's our Rocktard. The gangs love him.
