MayorSam is in the shade of the quiet redwoods that sequester the NoCal coast for the next few days, and your most uncalibrated scribe will try to keep the hotsheet going in his absence. This is a little like Tim Leary filling in for Walter Cronkite I realize, but if you'll indulge me a little, I just might get you angry enough to click back later when real content is here.
Hell, if you read MayorSam, you probably already know what's going on better than I. But this item caught my eye this morning: Times to Church: Drop Dead. In case you missed it, the Church has been bad in recent years. High hypocrisy marks to the LA Times and media in general continuing to ride the molestation juggernaut even on days when there's no news. I've e-talked to an erstwhile news ed there about this recently, but he only seems proud of the track record to date. This story has been going on for over five years, even when there's no news to report, which there often isn't, like today; you'd think that at this point they'd at least wait for more real news, rather than run with news fragments. A priest once told me, "If you want to leave the Church, just pick up a newspaper; they publish something that'll help you along every day." I see that.
That's not to say that the Times isn't above making news where there is none at the expense of other religions too. If you can believe it, this article on Valley Village suggests that the fact that the Neighborhood Council is heavily Orthodox Jewish has something to do with the passion of the debate over McMansionization there. The article uses the word "mansionization" though, likely so as not to offend the Irish, who may be the only folks drinking enough to still subscribe to the Times.
Are you down with this look-ma-no-hands law on cellphones in your car? That's what most of my friends who work so hard they don't have time to read blogs are still talking about. And they remain badly uninformed, because the ban doesn't start until next year. Glad to clear that up. The bad date owes to an email rumor.
If I were an economic forecaster, and didn't want to take a chance on any real forecasting, here's what I'd say: moderate growth, with a chance of a downturn. How can you lose? And that's exactly what Jack Kyser's economic thinktank "forecasts."

I've been reading your posts for some time and they are getting boring. So let me help you out a bit, because in the end, Antonio is involved.
White Memorial was the hospital that made news recently for having unclean and infected facilities resulting in the deaths of two newborns - they were even cited. But look deeper. Only 7th Day Adventist can be in senior management positions at the hospital - except the for the non-profit they operate. And this is where the money is, also where Coria has most of his power. Take a look and see how their money has been distributed. Find out who got the contracts for the multimillion dollar expansion they just completed. Look at how the city bent over backward in granting them their permits and under the threat of eminent domain, their new land. It all points back to Antonio, Huizar and Reyes, not to mention Gloria Molina. Your issue is much deeper than those whores you keep mentioning. There is even MTA money invovled right here - take a look at the Mariachi Plaza station - it will be the biggest MTA station yet, complete with a park, and it sits right in White Memorial;s back yard.
Today the Mayor sent out his email newsletter saying everything is great, crime is down, we have fewer pot holes, he planted more trees. A few weeks ago he released his two year report. Again, everything is great. Anyone notice that he did not mention the Animal Services Department in either report even though the animal platform was a major campaign platform of his.
So, why is that? Because Animal Services is failing. Twice as many animals are dying in the shelter from overcrowding even though we just opened two new bigger state of the art shelters. Fewer animals are making it out alive. Here are two must read articles to understand what's gone wrong. Will the Mayor do anything about it? Doesn't seem so because Jimmy Blackman is not telling him about the problems. He doesn't want to "bother" the Mayor.

Did anyone notice that about a month ago, the U.S. House of Representatives voted (by a 50+ vote margin) to not award ANY Federal Disaster funds to cities who declared themselves "Sanctuary Cities?" Yet our "Sex in the City" mayor has the audacity to badmouth the Federal Government for not providing more anti-terrorism funds, while supporting illegals' "rights."

Word is going around via e-mail that Antonio is the one responsible for LA not getting Homeland Security funds. They say his scandal hit the nation and the media pointed out he's hasn't done anything since being elected. So because of him PORKING HIS GIRLFRIEND and not paying attention to LA we get screwed.

Mayor is asked whether he spent any City funds on dating Mirthala Salinas. He says no but won't show any proof citing security reasons. The press wanted to know if his police escorts were with him when he visited Salinas or went to her mother's funeral. His bud Bratton is backing him up on this saying it's a matter of security. If the Mayor receives a security detail when he goes grocery shopping or gets his hair cut, i.e., anything he does on a routine basis, then it wouldn't make a difference if they were watching him while he did these boring things or visited Salinas. As for Bratton agreeing that it's a matter of security, I'd say it is insofar as, if potential terrorists know that he definitely is OR is not protected during certain times and undertakings, they'd know to strike then.
Does this mean he always has watch detail when he's at his own home? I imagine so, or he's be vulnerable (another reason he should be at the Getty house and his civilian family at home -- Getty must be designed for security).
We have a right to know how much is spent overall on his security, and whether it's more than average cuz he's a prominent Hispanic who's had death threats over the immigration issue. We are entitled to know his official schedule and contacts. But not the minutae of his personal life; in a case like this, maybe the city controller should be allowed to have a private look and only release info it she needs to pursue anything irregular.
