Home Depot Shoots Self In Foot!
Hearing Postponed Due to Over-Crowding!
A NHDC Account of Home Depot's Appeal Hearing.
We don't even know where to begin on this story!
This was the most bizarre series of events we have ever witnessed at a Hearing, ever!
We're still trying to process the whole affair but we'll start with what we do know, at the moment, (as the stories keep pouring in).
At 3pm, 3 buses show up at the Marvin Braude building filled with people in orange HD
t-shirts, and white "Stop Racism" t-shirts. Now, remember, the Hearing isn't till 4:30 pm. The group of orangies go and seat themselves in the hearing room, occupying almost all of the seats. The whities (stop racism) are kept outside as if they are being held in reserve.
We spoke with several from each group and many did not even know why they were there!
But, there they were, sitting in the seats in an obvious effort to demonstrate overwhelming support of Home Depot. Never mind that few knew why they were there, it was the numbers that obviously mattered!
Our crowd then started arriving, and before you knew it, the room was packed to the gills!
This, in conjunction with the many media outlets present , cameras rolling, reporters interviewing everyone, and Home Depot's army of attorneys huddling together.
Also present were several Home Depot hired engineers, a 3 man Home Depot Power Point presentation team, 2 guys that were holding a bunch of oversized photos, a Home Depot PR guy that seemed to be wrangling the orangies and the whities around, and a lot of people taking notes!
The Fire Marshall soon arrived and stopped letting people into the Hearing room.
The Hearing then began. Wendy Greuel spoke eloquently on behalf of Sunland-Tujunga and our real reasons for wanting to stop Home Depot.
The Commissioners then called for a 5 minute recess to discuss the over crowded room with the Fire Marshall.
Home Depot Real Estate Manager Richard Greene's face started contorting and changing colors as he began to realize that his well orchestrated and expensive plan to pack the room with "supporters" was now about to send this Hearing packing.
Latham & Watkins lawyer, Cindy Starrett, looked like she was going to lose it when
she couldn't get the Commissioners to continue the Hearing!
Rick Taylor, president of Home Depot's PR firm, Dakota Communications, started to sulk in the back of the room as he saw his master effort of room domination beginning to backfire, like so many of his company's other failed attempts at manipulation of Sunland-Tujunga.
The Commissioners then reconvened and announced that the hearing was postponed
until a suitable venue could be found to accommodate the crowd.
The Hearing was postponed until July 19th, location TBA!
The orangies and whities then left, piled on their buses and drove away.
We, of course, dispatched some observers to see where these people
were going.
Were they going home to Sunland-Tujunga?
No, two of the buses drove about a mile up the street, dropped everyone off at a
building near Sepulveda and Parthenia St.
There, everyone got off the buses, went into the building for a couple of minutes ( to get something?....$$?), came right back out, and drove off in their cars or walked away.
It was absolutely amazing to be there to witness this spectacle, and one can only wonder at what Home Depot, Dakota Communications, and Latham & Watkins, will come up with next!
This is desperation, uh, I mean entertainment at it's finest , folks!
Stay Tuned!

My my my. Politics in the big city. I love that old school attorneys and consultants think their silly old-fashioned tactics work. It makes our (nimby home depot opposers) jobs easier. Sort of like the way the city council members think that neighborhood councils are tying up the good activists. Maybe it's politics in the not-so-big city.

I wonder who lost their job tonight at Latham & Watkins or Dakota Communications?

This illustrates how irresponsibly people throw around the word "racism." Anyone who disagrees with you about anything is a "racist."

Too bad Wacko Walter couldn't have been there. He could have pointed out, probably from ACROSS THE STREET, just how many of the bussed-in supporters were ILLEGAL aliens!
Without ever talking to them!
He can do it; he's done it before. He said so RIGHT here on this blog.
He's JUST that good!
With that kind of TALENT and ABILITY to PRE-judge people, how come is it he isn't ALREADY mayor? Makes you wonder, huh?
Or, at least a JUDGE. We could clear the court dockets in a week, without anyone ever having to testify. He would just KNOW who was guilty, by looking at them - maybe even by what mode of transportation brought them to the hearing.
Walter CAN judge a book by its cover, or EVEN by the box (or bus) it arrives in.

Team Home Depot's mistake was not hiring me to advise them.

Dakota Communications sounds like a bunch of incompetent stumbling bums!
I think the Mayor Sam could have done a much better job!

Why would these idiots hire Rick Taylor for this project.
A has been who has not won any thing in 20 years.

10:00 a.m.: Please provide us all with a link to the page where I supposedly made that comment. If you can't, then stop lying. You keep repeating this lie, which reflects poorly on your reading skills and integrity.

They probably would have been better off with Rip Taylor.

I'm sure you purged it by now. But I read it with my own eyes, with your mug shot and name.
You ask for a link, but you never out and out deny it, Wacko. That's called a non-denial denial.
Wassamatta -- you afraid someone has it cached somewhere. You afraid I do?
Tell us that second-story story again, in your "own" words then.
What did you see at the election, regarding a busload of voters, and when did you see it, and if you weren't pointing out in the posting in question that it bus was full of ineligible voters (illegal or otherwise) voters that you assessed from 30 feet away (based on ??? skin color??? or???), then what was the point of even raising the issue?
Is taking people to a polling place by bus a crime, otherwise?
My reading comprehension is off the chart, Wacko. How's your faith in the ability to REALLY wipe a bigoted, "oops" comment off the face of the Internet. Are you willing to say without equivocating and waffling that you never said ANYTHING even vaguely like this? Are ya willing to stake your next election loss (oops, I meant 'mayoral race') on it?
Cache-ching!
Maybe it's late enough in the day you can just walk away from this one and not respond. Maybe, but if this blog gets anywhere near as many readers and visitors and bloggers as Mayor Sam boasts it does, the comment is "out there" waiting, for JUST the right moment.

You have that right.
It's interesting that the StopRacism website has eliminated their link to the "Community Letter" posted by 'Henry Casas, Esq.', in which he accuses Sunland-Tujunga of racism and states: "We cannot let this group of racists dictate what happens in our communities!"
The link may be gone on the website but you can still find the letter at http://stopracismca.com/frame_letter_e.php
Mayor Sam: "Team Home Depot's mistake was not hiring me to advise them."
That's a given, Mayor.
Mayor Sam said:
I'm not going to post it here but I have a total plan that works for Home Depot, not some half-ass effort not even worthy of a water board election campaign in Ripon.
I'm not going to post it here and help Joe B. But if Team Home Depot is interested, they know where to find me.
Unfortunately, after this debacle, the price just went up.
