Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Tuesday

A judge today signed an order barring bus drivers from walking off the job, and the Orange County Transportation Authority from locking out employees, for a period of 60 days. Orange County Superior Court Judge Dennis Choate said a bus strike could prevent bus riders from getting to medical appointments and to their jobs.

Wal-Mart has found perhaps one way around special interests and folks like Joe B. - they're going to buy an existing department store chain in California and reposition them under the company's brand.

Vacancy is falling and rents are rising. Maybe we need a city law. Actually, this time it relates to industrial space in Los Angeles. More such real estate is needed than its being produced. This is a good sign - this portends well for jobs and commerce in the city. Lets hope city planners find a sane, pro-business approach to this - opportunity.

The Daily News profiles the five candidates running to finish up Richard Alarcon's little used 39th Assembly seat. Though Villaraigosa puppet Felipe Fuentes is the favorite and has lots of cash, four other opponents are working hard to get into a run-off with Fuentes.
