EXCLUSIVE: "DR. DEATH", WHO IS THE REAL DR. RICHARD VLADOVIC ?
But with seven days remaining in his campaign to replace outgoing Board Member Mike Lansing for the District 7 seat. Information about his time as West Covina top education official portrays a less than flattering picture of Vladovic. Plus questions arise about the true reasons for Vladovic's departure from West Covina.
According to sources within the West Covina educational establishment. Dr. Vladovic brief reign as Superintendent was marked with "CONFRONTATION, CONFLICT, AND CONDEMNATION".
In May of 2005, all this came to a head in a dispute with faculty members at Westcove Elementary. According to a teacher who I will call "Jane Doe", emotionally recalls the confrontation that took place. She describes a faculty who's morale was low after the retirement of popular Principal Mike Shaix. In her comments, it was her opinion that Principal Shaix chose retirement over working with Dr. Vladovic.
During the month of May, Westcove was undergoing renovations. Plans were underway for a "Teacher Appreciation Day". But demands and directives mixed with an unprofessional behavior (profane laden, "volcanic fits of rage"), caused things to come to a head. In a manner that was described to me as confrontational and physically threatening, Dr. Vladovic stated to an education official that he had the nickname of "DR. DEATH" for the amount of teachers that he terminated as a District K administrator with LAUSD.
With the moniker of "DR. DEATH" and a rebellion brewing. Attention to the behavior of Dr. Vladovic was now drawing the curious eyes of the local print media, namely the San Gabriel Tribune. Rumor had it that the Tribune was to print an editorial on the union-busting actions of Dr. Vladovic. That was then when he announced his resignation due to the above mention reasons.
According to one education official. Dr. Vladovic and his wife, among perks of his buyout, was given medical insurance for life. This same official stated that the "health issues' was just a cover for the true reasons that Dr. Vladovic resigned. That is his abusive, confrontational behavior toward district staff and teachers.
"Jane Doe" still remembers going home and crying after her confrontation with Dr. Vladovic. She strongly states that Dr. Vladovic has no business being a leader of a school district let alone a teacher.
With the LAUSD District 7 runoff just about a week away. Questions about the past actions and behavior of Dr. Vladovic need to be vetted by the local media. If Dr. Vladovic's past union busting tactics are any indication, then all the local unions who have donated thousands of dollars to the Vladovic Campaign need to change their principles.
