"DISCONCERTED" ELECTED CITY OFFICIAL ED REYES DECLARES, "How can WE REGAIN Public Confidence?" [ED, Did I miss the VOTE of that Position?]
LOS ANGELES CITY COUNCIL MEMBER (and Antonio Villaraigosa ally) -- please stop undermining the credibility and effectiveness of The City of Los Angeles, as you do when you stated in the LA Times that,
"Bratton's report spent too much time discussing "agitators" throwing bottles but not enough on who was responsible for force by officers "that crossed the line. I'm disconcerted. The issue of accountability needs to be addressed more. If we can't show accountability, how can we regain the public's confidence?" [Elected City representative CM Ed Reyes]
EXCUSE ME, COUNCILMEMBER. You are an elected representive. You are not a political activist. Ed, have you made the final conclusion, based on your report that we can't show accountability? You are an elected representative, Ed, not a political activist...so unless you took a vote of the people, do not say "RE-GAIN" public confindence, unless you have election results that show people HAVE lost confidence.
Otherwise, take off your suit, put on a ski cap and glasses, don't shave -- and give a public comment to the other 14 from ZD's side of the rope. OTHERWISE -- SHUT THE F*CK UP!!! You made these comments BEFORE the Bratton presentation today. But more importantly...you have given people the "fuel for further fire", you big dummy.
"Yeah, did you hear what the Los Angeles Councilmember said? Even HE says they couldn't show accountability and has lost confidence in the police." (UNDERMINE AUTHORITY AND RIOT INCITE, Y'ALL.)
ED, you work for the City of Los Angeles. LAPD works for the City of Los Angeles. It is not good PR to bash your team mates. Don't you know in America, elected officials don't say these things to the media?
Did the LAPD say to the LA Times, "Ed Reyes is being sued in FEDERAL COURT by a former employees over civil rights violations -- AND IT'S GONNA COST THE CITY PLENTY IN OUTSIDE COUNSEL"? (You can minimize the suit, but LAPD didn't blab it to LA Times.)
Did LAPD run to the media and say, "Ed Reyes' LA River project is not even a f*cking watershed. It's just a front to funnel a bunch of money into the CRA project from all over the place -- and build skyloads of high density housing, when DWP cannot assure water to these projects. (See Daily News, Zuma Dogg and LAzy Times stories) I say the shadiness on LA River, runs deep. Y'all will be reading about it here, soon.
Zuma Dogg said (in response to LA Mayor Villaraigosa's "justice/peace" comments)...SO, ONCE A FINDING HAS BEEN MADE, THEN YOU WILL BE PEACEFUL. AND EVERYONE WILL BE SATISFIED AND PEACEFUL ONCE THE REPORT IS COMPLETE/JUSTICE HAS BEEN SERVED? OR WILL YOUR AUDIENCE BE "EVALUATING" THE JUSTICE IN IT'S OWN COURT OF PUBLIC OPINION -- THEN DECIDE WHETHER TO ARRIVE AT PEACE?] ZD thread 5/26/07
So, I guess Ed has decided for the people, as an elected official of the City (without statistics); coming out against the City's findings (before the City presentation); telling people he is "disconcerted" and concerns of "without accountability, trust cannot be re-gained. (As if it is an official city position that it has been lost by the public.)
