VILLARAIGOSA SETS UP PHONE BANKS TO SPIN AGAINST JACK WEISS RECALL UNDER GUISE OF "SURVEY"

***** UPDATE *****

MAYOR SAM BLOGGER WEIGHS IN ON HUIZAR STAFFER CONFLICT WITH GOOD TAKE!

JACKASS WEISS ALERT...

FIRST HE JAMS UP THE AREA WITH TOO MUCH DEVELOPMENT, THEN HE JAMS UP THE ROADS AS A RESULT...NOW HE'S GOTTA TRY AND DECEIVE YOU, AND BOTHER YOU ON THE PHONE.

[THOUGHT THE RE-CALL EFFORT WAS NO BIG DEAL AND ISN'T GONNA MATTER?]

Jack, it's over pal. Just go away, let Tony cut his losses, and do the City, and mankind a favor. No one likes you. (Including your fellow Councilmembers.) So you have ONE supporter. A weak mayor, with an eroding power-base, because he wasted all his political capital on failed, unconstitutional and illegal initiatives -- and hasn't accomplished a thing, except push investing pension funds in speculative, alternative technologies; fail to deliver on campaign promises; lost the AB 1381 attempt; turn his back on his base of supporters; fly all over the country and world; put Prop H on the ballot at the worst time possible, air rights shot out of the sky by a judge, LAX wage increase NOT delivered, while MTA increase IS delivered; he condems LAPD before the investigation even started and incites a riot mentality by telling a crowd, "Until there is justice, there can be no peace". And WOW, he endorses Hillary Clinton. AND he endorses Jack Weiss. (But his phone bank reminds you, the recall is not his fault.)

So who says Antonio isn't willing to go out on a limb and fight for what he believes in the face of all opposition. Good for you Antonio. Back Jackass for City Attorney, be his campaign manager, and try and tell everyone the REAL reason everyone hates him.

By doing this, you're just giving the recall campaign more publicity. (I know, I know...we only probe if they are already aware of the re-call.) Except now, someone sent this letter to ZD, and I am posting it on this and other blogs. So keep making calls. And everyone can tell their friends about the call they got about the Ass recall.

CLICK READ MORE FOR READERS DESCRIPTION OF JACK WEISS' SPIN-BANK (UNDER GUISE OF "SURVEY").

Dear Editor:

I have co-owned a home in the mid-Wilshire area for almost 15 years. During that time, I have seen a lot of changes in my neighborhood, some of them for better and many for worse.

Regardless, I have never served on a neighborhood committee or taken any political action either for or against any council member or developer or than voting in local elections.

Today, I received a phone call from a woman who claimed she was taking a survey for an independent company concerning quality of life issues affecting my neighborhood.

Although reluctantly, I agreed to take a few minutes to participate in her survey as I thought it might benefit my neighborhood.

Although her initial questions were indeed about the quality of life in our neighborhood, she began asking questions relating to the recall effort against Jack Weiss. Since I have observed Weiss sell out our area to developers over the past years, I did not mind expressing my support for the recall.

However, I soon noticed that the survey-taker kept asking the same questions about Weiss's recall but simply phrased differently. I assumed then this was a survey being taken to determine the popularity of this recall effort.

However, the surveyor suddenly started to ask if I would still support the Weiss recall effort if I knew that... and then she began making statements discrediting the purpose and intent behind the recall. Among the allegations were the claims that it was disgruntled developers behind the recall and as well as neighborhood association leaders on the take by those developers and these same neighborhood leaders were now punishing Jack Weiss for not paying them off 50 million dollars they had demanded to go away.

I immediately realized this "independent survey" was obviously being funded by people in Jack Weiss' camp and not a legitimate survey at all. More importantly, I knew her allegations were simply ridiculous.

I told this alleged survey-taker that, given her obviously loaded "questions," it was apparent to me she was not an independent survey but was offering further evidence of Weiss's political corruption by her transparent disinformation tactic. I thanked her for removing any doubt in my mind as to his dishonesty and desperation.

I asked her to please tell her employers that she has done a great service in removing any doubt in my mind to Weiss's culpability and that, thanks to her, I would not only ensure my recall vote is counted but inform everyone in my neighborhood how low Weiss will go to save his greedy, guilty ass.

The survey-taker hung up on me and yet I had not finished taking her survey.

I am guessing others will be contacted by the same "survey-taker" and hope they will be likewise inspired.

Most sincerely yours,
Reader

FOR THE RECORD, I COVERED THIS ANGLE ON MAYOR SAM, LAST WEEK. Article that refers to the subject of phone bank spin SO I RECOGNIZE THE WORK OF ANTONIO'S FAVORITE "MARKETING WARFARE" SOLDIER. I HOPE THE RE-CALL PEOPLE HAVE A HIGHLY ORGANIZED PHONE BANK, TOO.

ZD,

While you have a right to express your opinion on this blog, fortunately for me you also allow me to express my opinion on the same website.

Here is what you wrote:

"A weak mayor, with an eroding power-base,(Yet he just won a majority on the LAUSD in the hardest parts of town, where the opposition spent nearly $3 million since Jan to stop him -- if anything his power base just increased tremendously, because ZD one's power base is linked to the most recent election where his power was on the line -- this one was the LAUSD school board elections where against a $3 million dollar opposition he KICKED MAJOR ASS. ZD you are 100% wrong on this piece.)

because he wasted all his political capital on failed, unconstitutional and illegal initiatives -- and hasn't accomplished a thing, (Accept already plant 432,000 of his million trees goal. Has seen DWP increase their renewable energy from 2% the day he was sworn in to 7% A 350% increase in cleaning our air, water and land. Has seen an increase of 547 officers on the street since he started on DAY 1. Violent crime is down 12% -- gang crime is down 8% since the begginning of the year and overall crime hasn't been this low since the 40's. In terms of nuts and bolts of government -- the City was budgetted to fill 42,000 potholes last year -- the Mayor without adding to their budget made them fill 112,000 potholes. Since the Mayor has begun his term he has added nearly 22% more BIO-TECH jobs to the city - middle class jobs that we deperately need. Also in 2005 the city hosted 5 conventions -- the Mayor personally went on a sales job to increase that FIVEFOLD -- to 25 conventions, well i am happy to report that the LA Convention Center will host 40 conventions this year compared to HAPLESS HAHN who never sold LA to anyone -- which bring tourists and commerce in the scope of hundreds of millions to the City. So in a Mayor you want him to increase public safety -- he has, more cops and less crime, the numbers don't lie. You also want a Mayor to take care of the nuts and bolts like potholes -- where he broke every LA record on fixing our streets. While also doing the day to day job the Mayor is required to do -- he has led the City to plant over 400,000 new trees which clean the air and add to the City's canopy. And you want an ambassador for the City -- which this Mayor has done as well bringing in a HUGE infusion of CASH to hotels, restaraunts and small local businesses.)

except push investing pension funds in speculative, alternative technologies; (Which has produced an 11% ROI so far -- this is HUGE) fail to deliver on campaign promises; (Campaigned to plant more trees "check" takeover LAUSD "check" add more cops "check" and subway to the sea "check " in terms of planning) lost the AB 1381 attempt;(Won the LAUSD School Board Elections which is even more important) turn his back on his base of supporters;(According to who? Gay Steambath Lover Pulido?) fly all over the country and world; (which has produced an EIGHTFOLD in convention business) put Prop H on the ballot at the worst time possible,(NO, Eric Garcetti did this) air rights shot out of the sky by a judge,(Jan Perry did this) LAX wage increase NOT delivered,(Janice Hahn did this) while MTA increase IS delivered; he condems LAPD before the investigation even started (because the evidence is irrefutable that they broke the 2000 consent decree, only an idiot would hold his tongue when they were caught RED-HANDED) and incites a riot mentality by telling a crowd, "Until there is justice, there can be no peace". (Unfortunately ZD - you forgot basic spanish 101, where the subject when translates is flipped in english) And WOW, he endorses Hillary Clinton (Who will win the DEM NOMINATION). AND he endorses Jack Weiss" (Who will be City Attorney)

Do you really want to play Zuma?

Because your playing with the best right now -- even though i am semi-retired.

Dude...you brought up some good things. maybe the mayor should put you on camera to talk about some of that. but your relying too much on the trees thing, which is shady B.S. And a lot of weak stuff. BUT...one thing I should apologize for (kinda) -- you are so right as far as which CM you tagged with what...and yeah, I wanted to kinda pile that on, cause he IS mayor -- so an argument can be made that it all points back to the top...

BUT THE THING I REALLY WANNA CLARIFY -- AND IN THE INITIAL POST I SAID, "DID THIS TRANSLATOR GET THIS WRONG?" (regarding "justice/peace" and NO ONE corrected it...as people are so quick to do here. So perhaps a further clarification on the translation, but bro...that didn't come off too good for someone looking for a national platform.

AND IT STARTED AS A THREAD ABOUT WEISS' PHONE BANK, AND I TAGGED THE MAYOR...which sucks from Antonio's side...but he's the campaign manager, and the phone banks sounds like the work of one of his operatives -- no argument there I am sure...

But like when two lovers quarrel over leaving the bathroom seat "up or down", what this is really about is I am very disenfranchised with the mayor, because I believe, in my heart of hearts, his greed has gotten out of control -- and for some reason, it is very upsetting to me.

So don't be TOO proud of your post. You make the best presentation for the mayor that I've heard, unfortunately for the mayor...and you DO NOT have a lot to work with...he's not an easy guy to keep a good spin on.

ZD,

You claim that the Mayor leaves his old allies -- yet as oppose to the proof you offer -- I have a very relevant article in the Ventura Star to rebutt you with.

"Kuehl said she will instead focus her political energies on helping Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, a longtime friend and ally, should he decide to run for governor in 2010."

http://www.venturacountystar.com/news/2007/may/30/paving-the-way-for-pavley/

i guess this goes against your thoughts on the Mayor leaving everyone behind.

Flipping it around neither changes the meaning nor makes it any less threatening.

Am I missing something?

12:43pm,

bro, you're simply not going to be able to prove to me that there is not a feeling of betrayal amongst a diverse crowd of people in various districts. i said it months ago when it hit me: ZD is bourne out of the ashes of scroned Antonio supporters. i'm not saying 100% of his support has abandoned...but it ain't gonna be as fun and easy as first time around -- and it ain't over yet...and I'm having an Antonio mid-term crisis, cause I don't see the ship making the proper adjustments. And that's because there is a combative, fear-based pervasiveness at City Hall...and the greed is out of control.

I really don't understand it. The mayor has millions and millions and millions of dollars and disney loves him, and universal loves him, and the LA times loves him...and you can't even let one guy post on an underground blog.

WHAT A BUNCH OF OBSESSIVELY COMPULSED FREAKS.

Of course yuo are disenfranchised, you worthless hulk.

You have no job, no visible means of support except whatpeople may donate to you through this website, and you carp and whine all the day on stuff about which you know nothing, each time thinking you have found Watergate in LA.

This Mayor is the best we've had, and his numbers are off the chart UP, not down.

You are th eloser for continuously attacking him and Weiss, another winner, who will be City Attorney.

You are way out of your league, and, like Cindy Sheehan, you need to give it up, go get a shave and a bath, and get a job and a life.

Zuma you have indeed hit a nerve because the mayor's people are responding to the truth. Antonio's only accomplishments are planting trees and filing potholes. Gee, that's a true leader. He can't claim hiring more cops cause that's Bratton and crime is down again because of Bratton's strategy not Antonio. Antonio rushed to judgment and condemned LAPD without an investigation. His moron staffer admits it. He should read all the polls and media surveys, letters etc. where people throughout the city support the actions of LAPD because unlike the mayor they know the illegals are criminals who don't abide by the law. Antonio can set up all the phone banks he wants. People have blocked marketing calls like those and thanks to the internet and blogs like this one, plus e-mails word is already out on Weiss Ass and it will be hard to catch up. Add to that Antonio can't compete with the KFI guys nailing Weiss Ass on drive time radio. Antonio hasn't cleaned up city hall and in fact we all know his campaign donations have been from big developers. His commission appointments have been political paybacks. We're not stupid and Antonio's approval rating has dropped big time. Every newspaper has had an negative opinion on the photo op Mayor. Cops can't stand his gang banging, cholo, womanizing self. Educated Latinos can't stand him and criticize him at every meeting. He gives money to gang programs knowing they are run by criminals and refuses to have them audited but blames Chick. Antonio spends more time out of the city and is a "do nothing mayor" Keep up the great work Zuma hitting this loser.

Not surprising that Antonio gets along so well with the Clintons. They are birds of a feather when it comes to not having many long-time friends BECAUSE they pretty much use people and then dump them.... Yes, lots of new "friends" who can be helpful to them, who have money, big names, etc... But not many "friends" from the past....

There are two types of Democratic presidential candidates.

Type 1 strikes a vein with voters with his genuineness. He pieces together a coalition of fair-minded populists around the country. He appeals to many "salt-of-the-earth" types who otherwise would vote Republican.

Type 2 runs a campaign, populist by proxy. He sucks up to movie stars, thinking it a substitute for the support of the people. He talks about the poor, yet cozies up to every high-profile billionaire in the country. He plays ethnic politics, as opposed to "people politics," focusing on ethnic totems, rather than issues that all poor people care about.

Type 1 is Jimmie Carter and Bill Clinton (first campaign).

Type 2 is Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Al Gore, and Bill Clinton (Second Campaign).

Type 1 got stopped by Ronald Reagan. Type 2 got stopped each time, unless Bob Dole was running.

If Hillary thinks her ridiculous Hollywood events do anything other than pissing off voters, she is mistaken. If she thinks her endorsement of Villaraigosa, a man who nobody outside east LA truly respects, will do her anything, she is mistaken.

19-year-old females don't vote much in California. They certainly don't vote in Iowa.

30-year-old Hispanics don't vote much in California. They certainly don't vote in New Hampshire.

Hillary, you lost my vote. Go hang out at Ron Burkle's home, or Eli Broad's, and salve your wounds. I hear their chefs cook wonderfully.

11:45p "Has seen DWP increase their renewable energy from 2% the day he was sworn in to 7% A 350% increase in cleaning our air, water and land."

Okay, now you're spinning out of control. Los Angeles CURRENTLY has the WORST air in the United States. Childhood asthma rates have INCREASED in Los Angeles and L.A. County. The American Lung Association has given an "F" in air quality to Los Angeles. The Number One reason for school absenteeism is not cold, cough or flu -- it's asthma.

A 2% to 7% bump in renewables is admirable, but your interpretation of the statistic is immoral and intentionally misleading.

We finally have a good, green mayor in Antonio. If he really wants to reduce the air quality plague in Los Angeles, he'll go after the construction industry and push for no more dirty diesel construction.

Give us a 100% decrease in childhood asthma, underdeveloped lungs in children, cardiovascular disease and hundreds of thousands of lost days of productivity all due to smog. Then you'll really have something to brag about and we'll all cheer then.

But the air quality battle has yet to begin in Los Angeles. Don't try to "inform" us that it is already won.

The Kool-Aid Drinkers were out in force last night!

What has MAV done?

1. Claim to run a clean, open government then turn around and raise trash "fees" without voter approval, create a personal "slush fund" for "better schools" and then shove AB1381 down our throats (again, without voter approval), run roughshod over chartered neighborhood councils and their input, lose in court again on imposing a living wage near LAX because of a refusal to negotiate with the businesses that would be paying the bill, and, oh by the way, demanding a "private" hearing on 31 city ethics violations.

2. Spend an enourmous amount of money on an inflated PR staff (which apparently works in the middle of the night like most vampires), spends nearly a million dollars on less than two years of caligraphy, goes on vacations, er, junkets, er, campaign fund-raising, er, promotional tours on a seemingly weekly basis on the city's dime (didn't he go to D.C. just a little over a month ago to get Alberto Gonzalez' help on gangs. How'd that turn out? Coincidence about that trip to South America during the immigration rally, right?), spurred a highly complementary article in the "New Yorker", and, wait a minute, isn't convention business booked years in advance and isn't there a hotel being built close by that got funded during the Hahn Administration which might have something more to do with it than MAV's frequent trips to Miami? I got to get me some kool-aid stat!

3. Claim to be the Warrior For The Left and then leave Angelides twisting in the wind to better himself, use personal dilemnas of opponents such as a marriage seperation involving young children and recovering from cancer surgery as tools for personal political advantage, use current elected positions purely as stepping stones for political advantage rather than expending political capital to truly solve them in the long run (now, wait a second, he's had to accomplished funding for something...Subway To The Sea...Light Rail.....a downtown project.....there's gotta be something, I know he's spent millions of our dollars lobbying for it), hundreds of dollars per vote on an election with one of the poorest turnouts in history trying to turn LAUSD around while he runs LA, campaigns for Hillary (and campaign funds), campaigns for re-election (and campaign funds, and campaigns for governor (more campaign funds). Why would there be any doubt about his intentions to fight the tough fight for the "disenfranchised." Disenfranchised is code for AV, and only AV, right?

I'm just glad he's given up on doing his job as Mayor, even if it's only in his mind. I'm tired of him using this town like a prostitute.

the last comment is right-on, that weiss is "the only reasonable one" on the City Council that day -- or most days... Look at the rest of them: Janice Hahn and Zine, whom those dumb whiners behind the recall move cite re: Weiss not being happy enough to hear constitutents: well, that's not true, haven't seen it -- tho he did get fed up w/ your ramblings against him, ZD, wonder why? -- but they're both totally irrelevant gasbags. JH w/ her living wage ordinance for non-city hotels, shot down twice by the courts and making L. A. look even more unfriendly to bus and more-pro illegal immigrant; and Zine at the other extreme, likes to boast that his W. Valley district has no crime/homeless, and an oaf, too. They are irrelevant.

And a couple of nice but silly ones, LaBonge and Rosendahl, Rosend too liberal even for Santa Monica; on down the "horseshoe," to where Huizar and Garcetti and Greuel are the only others as educated as JW, but he's the only real moderate -- from the LAPD to terrorism to gangs (Hahn wants to raise more taxes for her own wasteful programs): We NEED Weiss to inject sanity and moderation. -- Leave the guy alone and let the little hornets trying to sting him go back into a nest.
