Thursday is "Judgement Day" for Academia Semillas del Pueblo
Mayor's Sam, Sister City "FAVORITE BLOGGIN CHARTER SCHOOL", Academia Semillas del Pueblo will have its future decided tomorrow at the "BOARD OF AVOCATION" meeting. First, let me thank "BIG JOE IN EAST LOS" for the heads up on the P.R. campaign that Academia supporters are undertaking on the eve of the 3:00 PM vote on Charter renewal. The supporters of Academia appeared yesterday on that bastion of "LEFT-WING TALK", KPFK, Pacifica Radio. Tomorrow, A rally and march will take place beginning at 12:00 PM,(CALL 323 769-5656 for recording and info), at La Pacita Church and end at the Beaudry Headquarters. So if you work downtown and you hear drums, then you will know that Academia supporters are on their way to showtime at Beaudry.The saga of Academia Semillas del Pueblo and its "BOMBASTIC" Co-principal, Marcos Aguilar have been a lighting rod of thought, on the politics of "ETHNIC EDUCATION", in our public schools. Brought to our collective attention by Doug McIntyer of KABC 790 AM Talk Radio. Plus the assault on KABC reporter Sandy Wells by Academia parent Ramon Flores, have spotlighted attention on the beliefs, teachings, and support of Academia by the Latino political community. On that level, School Board Member, Monica Garcia is pushing for Charter Renewal with "CONDITIONS", maybe inproved test scores for one?
With tomorrows vote, it is safe to say that the "DISCUSSION" will not end. Not in El Sereno. Not in the media. And most definitely, MAYOR SAM.
AFTERNOON UPDATE
Educators and adult supporters of Academia, commenced a "FAST FOR EDUCATION", Tuesday morning at dawn at the GAZEBO OLVERA. According to "School Me" blogger Bob Sipchen, educators, community leaders, and artists were to join the "ACADEMIANISTAS" throught the day. This event and tomorrows are being orchestrated by Marcos Aguilar and Antonio Gonzalez of the William Velaquez Institute.

For once I will take the side of an ANONY'MOUSE' on conditions. Starting with #1, #2, #3, #4, and of course #7.
Sorry to inform those of you reading here today, that I did not place the firts post here. Looks like this attention junkie was busy taking care of neighborly business at another local school (Glen Alta). It is important to keep the residents of Rose Hills up to date about the Emergency Prepardeness Plan that is going into place. (DISASTER PLAN COMMANDER-ANTHONY MANZANO) I am sure the anony'mouse of 12:17 will need some (WATER, FOOD, SHELTER, FIRST-AID) or any other relief when the 'California Quake' hits, so I give you a warm welcome when you need the help. (HATE ME THEN, BLESS YOUR LITTLE HEART.)
Back on subject, I will assure you that as part of the argument to keep the school open a 'Letter of Support' will be submitted on behalf of the LA-32 NC that truely does not reflect the postion of the community. I attended the 'SPECIAL' Board Meeting they had to cover this 'one topic' and let it be known that the letter was drafted prior to the Board reviewing it, with no community input, and affirmed the postion of LA-32 NC before public comment was addressed, with out Directors input, and prior to the vote. (THE WHOLE THING WAS SET UP LIKE A HOAX.)
I have nothing personal about Academia or the students and staff. Just realize that no matter who you are, or where you are from, if you are here....... 'YOU ARE AMERICAN FIRST'. If you feel otherwise, talk to someone who believes you. After you understand that, then we can discuss how you feel we can better serve you. The country you are in, has presidence over the country you have left.
Don't come to America and hate the country that is giving you what you have now, try going to Japan and hate on them, stomp on thier flag, teach your programs and see if you are treated with the dignity and respect of your current fellow neighbors. I think those people would have much less resistance to abolish this organization.
I will wait to see what the outcome is in the days ahead, but I believe if you really want support, walk down the street and ask the true opinion of what people think, not pre-exposed parents that must submitt to being partial.
This is a cycle that will continue for generations, if you live here now, no questions needed, you shall claim and represent America. I didn't say white, but American. If you can't pick that up then you must not be American and that seems to conclude perhaps Anti-American. My answer to that is ...... GO WHERE YOUR HEART IS!

First, the day that Marcos Aguilar raises the American Flag on his "COLLECTIVE", is the end of the revolution for him. What one needs to remember about "COMMEDANTE MARCOS". Is that he expouses a hardcore "LEFTISM" that uses the revisionist history of AZTLAN or MEXICA, to promote their collectivist agenda. Race is what you see up front, but SOCIALISM/MARXISM is what you really are teaching.

Aside from running a school with a curriculum generated by obviously separatist objectives, the school has not shown that it has been able to generate improved performance over schools in it's local area.
There should be some measurable progress that one would expect to be shown by this school since the start up. Continuing on sheer speculation that more improvement will happen is unnecessary and wrong.
Why should the LAUSD Board supply more tax dollars to support another unsatisfactory school AND one that they have no real authority to control? At least their schools are within their continuous control now, even though plagued with performance issues.
The children and parents might feel some victory in having "culturally related" concepts taught, but is that going to pay off for these children?
They are gambling with that. How are the children going to measure up in the future when it comes time to apply their literacy and math skills in competition with others for jobs and admissions to colleges, and so on? When they leave the nest, will they be equipped to handle life?
The LAUSD should not just approve a charter school's existence as a political decision. The education system is not about politics. People have made it so, however. Sorry, Board Member Monica Garcia, you're as divisive an element as anyone else here.
Bottom line: If this school wants to continue operating with the agenda it has, it should be privately financed, as are religion-based schools, and NOT taxpayer-funded. Mr. Aguilar's hostility to "American" culture is no secret. His past statements clearly show his true thoughts on this. He is contemptuous of the society that is the very same society that has allowed his school to be funded. Continue as you will, but pay your own way on this one. Academia supporters, this is a private concern. Alternate funding sources should be found without much problem if what you have is as worthy as you claim it is. I just do not believe it is properly in the public sector.

I will be linking to this article, since it will have more updated info. than I could come across. I am not in L.A., but I still am outraged about this situation and the fact that the school ever existed.
