Antonio Update

Yes, the Mayor is going out of town again. Travel gear available here.

The LA Times looks at Mayor V's "inner circle" of friends and advisors who range from former State Assembly Speaker Willie Brown to Valley businessman David Fleming. However the most influential member of the circle whose been at the Mayor's side for years is labor leader Maria Elena Durazo.

An LA Times reader makes an interesting point: If the Mayor wants to take over the LAUSD shouldn't he wait until he gets the LAPD in working order?

Speculation is that the Mayor plans to run for Governor in 2010. However, first he has to win the nomination and a poll shows that Attorney General Jerry Brown has a huge lead for the Democratic nomination, including even garnering half of the Hispanic vote. However, Jerry says he has no plans to run so that puts Antonio ahead of other comers such as San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, State Senator Jackie Speier and past nominee Phil Angelides.

Good point on Antonio wanting to take over LAUSD and LA is the most underpoliced city in the US. Look around and you see hundreds of new developments of apts. condos, all over the city yet our politicians fail to help put more officers on the street. Who do they think are going to protect and serve all the people coming into the city? They give money to so many depts. and agencies for politicial payback yet fail to give LAPD money for overtime for more patrols. You have to wonder why after all the time Laura Chick N Shit has been in office did she do an audit on LAPD operations yet fails to audit DWP and gang programs?????>?

I heard that Antonio is going to take his dog catcher on the trip. Is that true? Why would he take Ed Boks the worse Director of Animal Services ever on the trip? There's a lot of bad press about him because his year end numbers were dismal. Why would Antonio want to lug around that bad news? Another concern is the fact that he's been involved in some sexual harassment allegations and is being sued for discrimination. Antonio has enough to worry about his own negative reputation to be lugging Boks' bad juju around with him.

The ethnocentric mayor is at it again. This is why Villaraigosa will never appeal to educated, middle-class citizens:

Elected U.S. Official Leads Illegal Immigration Rally

The mayor of a major U.S. city (Villaraigosa) who last year helped organize a massive illegal immigrant march starred in a similar event over the weekend in which thousands of illegal aliens demanded rights, waved Mexican flags and burned American flags...

In fact, Villaraigosa, an ardent supporter of illegal immigrants, told the group of about 5,000 that his “proudest moment as mayor of Los Angeles” was greeting the 500,000 illegal immigrants at last year’s march.

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen (removes hat and bows low):

While the cat is away, the mice will play, savvy? From a PR point of view, it's a wise move since the subject of a news interview isn't available to comment when a comment is needed. As for taking the dog catcher on the trip, it takes him out of the City and keeps him quiet.

But what will be most interesting is the expense report when said Mayor returns. I wonder how he'll expense a few of the dinners he'll be attending. Can you say "business development"?

Antonio is a clown plain and simple. Clowncil had a couple of days off just a week ago and now our tax payer dollars are being spent for them to go play with Antonio and no council meeting this week. What a bunch of bafoons!! My friends in NY and Chicago are sending me press clippings of the stupidity of these losers all the time. Never in the history of LA have we had such a group of low life losers as the people's reps. They have no class, no shame, no brains, no leadership, no creative ideas for the city and all they do is kiss Antonio's ass.

This is why Fabian Nunez is so gung-ho now about relaxing term limits. His plan to run for mayor of LA isn't looking too promising at the moment.
