L.A. Zoo Elephants: One Step Forward, Five Back?

Did you see the Mayor's photo-op where he's celebrating the departure of Ruby the elephant from the zoo for greener pastures?

Nice, isn't it? But do you know his plans for the $39 million elephant pen at the zoo that is still under construction? If you don't, you can find out at MooreIsBetter.com.

Surgeon General's Warning: reading about the Mayor's plans may cause loss of that warm, fuzzy, photo-op feeling, and result in an uncontrollable urge to stampede.

another victory. go back 6 months where I berated Greig Smith in public comment over the elephant debacle.
we don't need a subway to the sea, we need an elephant trail to the sea.
we need cops first, so I say Los Angeles doesn't HAVE TO have elephants. we got two circuses already in this town (Hollywood and Venice Beach), and trust me, theres enough circus animals going around.

If Antonio was a "real" leader and we all know HE'S NOT he would have said something back when clowncil voted on the $39 mil for new exhibit and sent Ruby to the sanctuary instead of making her suffer. Word is they're trying to get 6 new elephants in LA Zoo. Let's see Gita DIED, Ruby has a horrible life at LA Zoo and didn't another one die? Great, idiot clowncil members embarrass are city once again with their dumb ass motions

notice also the effective use of CAPS above.... ;)

how do you do that if ur in all caps?

and speaking of leadership, what better way to stand up in the world and declare that Los angeles doesn't keep giant prehistoric wandering foraging beasts locked in a zoo. show me one person getting off a plane at LAX with the prime intention of seeing an elephant at Los Angeles Zoo. anyone who really cares would put san diego on their list. let's take care of the things that do attract tourist dollars, not some lame ass education based theory that kids are gonna benefit from seeing an elephant caged in an enclosure. really. when we were kids we didn't know any better. even Gita finally had enough and in a magnificent act of defiant activism she took her own life in protest. any parent worth their salt would take their kids to a real animal park. 40 million dollars. 20 million to police and training, 20 million to homeless shelters.
anybody got a problem with that?

So only a union construction boondoggle can halt City Hall's drive to emulate New York and San Francisco?

Savor the victory you fools.

Ruby has had a raw deal for years and Antonio has liberated her.

He deserves props and all he gets from you jealous buttheads is continued criticism.

Hell, you'd think he was George W. Bush the way you all pile on him.

why should antonio get the props? who do you think was ulitmately responsible for getting ruby gone? do you honestly think it was him? he probably just found out when he read it in the newspaper.

someone else got that poor elephant out of there and it wasn't the activists who have been begging for years. it must have been lloyd levine.
