Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Tuesday

Rick Orlov reports that City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo has traveled to Mexico to improve his Spanish speaking skills. How about a trip to the People's College of Law to improve his legal skills in time for the next dog food trial?

A flashlight that releases pepper spray has been authorized for general use in the LA County Sheriff's department. The department tested 1,000 Tigerlight and Cobra Stunlight flashlights and discovered that they worked quite well. Deputies from six patrol stations and two custody facilities tested the flashlights and discovered that they provided an ability to quickly use pepper spray.

Los Angeles Unified Superintendent David L. Brewer Monday named a retired Marine Corps colonel as his chief of staff. Don Davis will serve as a top adviser to Brewer and help enact district initiatives and policy. Davis has worked for Los Angeles Unified in other positions during the past six years, including chief of staff to the district's Office of General Counsel. Davis spent 30 years in the Marine Corps.

Where's Robert Acherman on this one? The Department of Los Angeles World Airports Monday announced that they are renaming Ontario and Palmdale airports LA/Ontario and LA/Palmdale respectively. No truth the rumor that they had considered Los Angeles International Airport of Palmdale or Los Angeles International Airport of Ontario. They better be careful though, the City Council takes naming things LA in other cities very seriously.

And finally, LA City Nerd was looking for a city slogan for Los Angeles but found out we still have one the books - "LA's The Place" adopted in 1981. As far we know, this was never officially dropped or replaced. Have a better idea? Post it here, the City Council is reading.

Acherman (Ackerman?) probably would be okay with renaming the other airports if they would close LAX at the same time!

I'm glad to see the blacks now see they are being used by Antonio and naming a black fire chief is nothing more then a political ploy.

African American leaders questioned whether the mayor had tapped the incoming chief as a public relations ploy to mollify critics upset with him for vetoing a $2.7-million legal settlement for a black firefighter who sued the city after co-workers fed him a spaghetti dinner laced with dog food....."This was a move to quiet the storm of controversy," Lee said. "I'm concerned with the shallowness with which this seemed to come about."

Good morning ladies and gentlemen (sips tea and looks out window):

The naming of airports is a serious thing, however, it causes more harm than good in that hundreds of thousands of pages of a certain book entitled "The Hundred Dollar Hamburger" will need to be re-printed, savvy?

On another note, since my posts are allegedly boring, is there truth to the rumor that Alvin Parra is having problems getting enough signatures to qualify for the ballot? I would not like to think Mr. Parra is a shill, for he seems to have the true interest of the people at heart. Should Mr. Parra not qualify, would Mr. Huizar not be pleased?

Pleased as rum punch, savvy?

All I gotta say is, the signal-to-noise ratio coming out of CD 14 this morning is reaching the dangerous 80 FAKE NEIGHBORHOD WATCHES® threshhold.

What makes you think (MayorSam) that council is reading the blog this week? Aren't they in recess?

Alvin "DOH!" Parra has never been much of an organizer. The only campaign he has directed and won has been his election as Wilson High School student body president. He was the campaign manager for Rosemary Lopez when she lost to Mike "Cokie" Hernandez. Then he lost his wife's campaign. Then he lost three of his campaigns for city council. The he gets booted from the Neighborhod Council. Those who run just to run and have no policy or community agenda will undoubtedly always lose.

Rumor out of CD 14 today is Alvin's signature peons are moles out of Huizar's team. List was impressive.

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen (peers into mole hole): Peons and moles now? Not everyone in CD14 is a peasant or lives under a rock, although there are a few that sally forth every now and then, savvy?

Halloo sots? Are you in there? (Pokes stick into mole hole) So THAT's where you go whilst you are on vacation. I would have thought you would have settled for a more tropical clime like the one the City Attorney flew away to.

And a good afternoon to Sir Chapman, privateering does have its moments, doesn't it?

"BLUE DUST DEVILS" of political dirt are swirling across the blue plains of CD 14. From the high perch of the "RED DOT SANCTUARY" (Protection offer under Special Order 41). The vile that will fly across this council district are only going to deepen the perception that we engage in mud slinging instead of the enchange of ideas. For years this district has seen promises come and results still are being waited upon. As one who has met both Parra and Huisar. I sincerely hope that we have a campaign of ideas not dirt.

Ahoy thar, Cap'n Sparrow! Pity I was below decks repairing a few bulwarks; the drunken sailors on another thread stove them in.

Aye laddie, 'twas a fine day to sail 'round with the breeze coming to seaward, but with the work to be done to make our vessel shipshape... perhaps on the morrow we might set sail!

I'll be having none o' that "Sir" business; American am I, and me Nation forebiding foreign titles awarded upon a humble citizen such as I - I shan't have it! But bearing a new letter of marque from me guv'ment to take prizes off the hated lobster-backs, slavers, and other such scoundrels, I shall be busy soon.

Why 'twasn't a fortnight ago some mother's son cut loose at me ship off the coast near the Bay o' Smokes... ah, but thar's a diff'rent story. I'll tell ye that story whilst sharing a split of malmsey with ye at the cantina in Sonora Town.

Dost thou knowest the place? It be due east of the dry riverbed coming from them San Gabriels.

Yonder alcalde of me pueblo I call me home ashore seems unfavorably dense, mayhap. But failing his Latin whilst a schoolboy and becoming a peddler of dubious medicinal herbs doth not a good leader make! Who knoweth what mischief alcalde Antonio maketh whilst the citizen's committee is absent from me pueblo?

A new fire chief, albeit a temporary one? Aye, this Douglas Barry seems to be a fine 'un indeed!

As for the yonder citizens' duo who protesteth at the wireless station, methinks they be in a rowboat and calling it a man o' war!

Did everyone hear Richard Alarcon gave San Fernando Mayor Nury Martinez the boot. She did not make the cut for the new assembly team. Alex Padilla didn't even value her loyalty. I hear he even laughed when she asked for a job with his senate office.

Where oh where will the mortgage come from. Surely not from the San Fernando council salary of $674/mo.

Wait let me check...I think Gerry Guzman (her husband) is putting up the for-sale sign on their San Fernando home. Yup, she's moving back home to mommies and she's pissed at Alarcon. She's gonna run against him in her hometown ghetto, Pacoima (or as she so lovingly refers to it "Pacas") Watch out the CD 7 seat is about to get heated. The "ghetto princess" and the parasitic "Savior of the poor" are about to duke it out!

Cut to scene 7: The ghetto princess sits her fat ass-atate on the parasitic Savior. He eats. He explodes!

Cut to final Scene: March 2007 election night....Montanez's celebration as she wins the CD 7 council seat by a landslide...monica rodriguez begging for Montanez's endorsement for the LAUSD school board seat, felipe fuentes runs to fill the vacated Assembly seat.

The NE Valley lives happily ever after....NOT!

With regard to our city motto, I thought RR updated it to, "Los Angeles, Together We're the Best" or something like that, which is just as sickly sweet.

If Alvin was smart all he has to do is investigate the lies of the 80 neighborhood watches Antonio and Jose take credit for and let the CD14 know they don't exist. And because he was on Jose's team for awhile put out the facts of nothing being done in the district since Jose's been in office.
