Saturday Open Thread: A Dream Deferred?
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."Two questions for you today:
1. Will the next Fire Chief be selected based, even in part, on skin color, rather than the content of his or her character?
2. If so, what color skin will the next Fire Chief have?
(And yes, I realize "dream deferred" and "I have a dream" are from two different authors.)

A reporter has stated that firefighters have said they cannot comment on Chief Bamattre's resignation. Excuse me but what happened to freedom of speech? Antonio has been heard stating that he has two BLACK chief's in mind. Pat McOsker shouldn't be speaking out as the firefighters spokesperson. He wasn't re-elected as pres. of their union and that shows how much he is disliked by them.
Answers to questions on new fire chief selection: 1. Content or Character will be subordinate to skin color, and depend on political benefit to the Mayor; 2. New Chief will be black, since Mayor has lost points with that sector of the population.
All moves that the Council and Mayor now make (and have been making, that matter) are suspect. The controlling factor is how much mileage they can get for themselves so they can keep their jobs and continue to fend off critics and challengers (=SNAFU).
What things REALLY ARE and what they APPEAR TO BE, again, will probably be something much different upon closer analysis. These guys don't do anything "for free." There's a need to watch everyone more closely now that much has been revealed about how they ignore their "fiduciary duty" to the City and their constituents.

Pat McOsker is one of the really decent people of the City. He barely lost reelection and one factor in that loss may be that the Union membership in UFLA is largely white male republicans and Pat unflichingly defended the rights of discriminated workers in that Union against the resistance of the Chief.

No one trust Pat McOsker. Anyone who says one thing then turns around and like the wind changes is mind can't be trusted. The firefighters can't stand him especially with him being quoted as their spokesperson and he's not.
I couldn't believe John & Ken saying Antonio, Garcetti and Weiss Ass are all Metro Sexual men. They said none of them are man enough to be firefighters or police officers. I've never heard talk show hosts personally attack politicans that low and I'm glad they did. Word is Antonio is already feeling the backlash. The fact is there have been 15 lawsuits in 3 years. Why the hell didn't council stop settling and start questioning? That doesn't compare to Bitter Bernie's $70 million plus in lawsuits because of his Rampart mess.

Wiseguy pick for new fire chief is not a black, but a Latino. Antonio will not pass up the chance to give this post to one of his minions.
Tony will probably hire an Asian guy to throw everyone off. If anyone complains he can call them racists.
