Today's Latin Lesson: "Quid Pro Quo"

The Daily News theorizes that the Governor appointed the Mayor's sister to the bench in exchange for the Mayor's not helping Angelides.

Here's the story: http://www.dailynews.com/news/ci_4491765 .

Alternate theory: the reason the Mayor is not helping Angelides is to put the Mayor himself in a better position to run for governor, or to become Hillary's VP candidate.

Some would say that the late, great John Belushi and "POLLORAIGOSA" share some of the same "habits", But I digress. Both senerios are plausible. "POLLORAIGOSA DOES ASIA TOUR" has helped his international resume. Whether he attempts to pull a "SLICK WILLIE" and use Asian money, ala, "CHARLIE TRIE", "JOHNNNY CHUNG", "JAMES RIADY" and "THE LIPPO GROUP" to further future office is for this Blog and others to examing. Both "BILLARY" and "LERCH KERRY" would have "POLLORAIGOSA" on there V.P. list. Then the fun part comes with the bachground vetting process. Do I here "THE VENICE ROOM" and "GIRL FROM SACRED HEART" anywhere???? On the "GIRLIE CRAT" that one is a no brainer. Of course he sold him down the river.

WALTER,
For the sake of diversity can we "PHOTOSHOP" that "coke loving", "porno watching" "skirt chasing", face of Ex. Councilman, Mike Hernandez over John Belushi??

I'll take VIP VEEPS for $500, Alex. The Mayor only helps those who help himself. First the Mayor sells out our kids, now he sells out our Party.

Maybe Angelides doesn't want AV stumping for him. Remember how well John Kerry did, with Tony V. spending a full year outside his council distict in 2004?

As long as we're all just guessing and gossiping, anyway.

(And 10 AV's couldn't pull Angelides boring ass campaign out of the fire).

Theorize? It is no theory! How does a failed lawyer go from being an unemployment commissioner to being a superior court judge in one move. Although sh is the smartest Villar, that isn't saying much. Her fellow marxist liberals at the Legal Aid Foundation of L.A. had enough of her temper tantrums and they gave her the boot. And now she is a judge? How many cases - besides unlawful detainers - has she handled? There are obviuosly more qualified Latinas out there. Back room family politics stifles Latino advancement once again. What does a Superior COurt Judge make anyway, $160,000 + a year. What a payoff!

I see Tony Castro visits this blog regularly. That whole sister appointment bit was brought up here first during that tree planting ceremony. Castro should give or Mayor Sam should take his due credit.

Who knew Antonio had a sister who was a judge?? Good for Daily News to report the facts. Damn straight Antonio made a pack with Arnold to not campaign for Angelides in return for his sister's appointment. Problem is we have lazy ass reporters at the LA Slimes that know a hell of a lot more crap but are too afraid to print. Let's see what our midget mayor does when he gets back into town. Will he or won't he campaign for Angelides to get Latino vote.

Appointing Tony Villar's sister to the bench will always be the #1 reason I will NEVER vote for Schwarzenegger!

Tony Villar will be the kiss of death to ANY candidate. He may be king of the Mexicans in LA, but he won't play well in Peoria!

In fact, he won't play to Northern CA!!!! The voters in Northern CA hate him and will never allow him to become governor.

Only 3 years to go before we are rid of Tony Villar FOREVER!!!

Is the mayor on some type of drug? He is abnormally jumpy. What's up with this?

Get a clue. How else do you think judges are picked? Merit? HA! Most are political deals, from the Supreme Court on down. Move on to something newsworthy and get over it. This won't get any traction against the Mayor.

Hasn't this great blog and its insightful bloggers been saying something like this for over a year?

One more time: that "highway infrastructure" bond that got through the Legislature and onto the fall ballot was designed by Arnold to show his "bipartisanship" and "ability to get things done."

Who is the Speaker of the Assembly who helped get that through? Why it's none other Fabian Nunez, an ally of MAV!

Arnold gets reelected in 2006, and termed out in 2010. MAV gets reelected in 2009, then runs for Gov in 2010. No democrat like "Scandeliges" to stand in the way.

MAV's sister is just a throw-in, like a 4th round draft choice or a "player to be named later" in a professional sports trade.

I like how everybody on here is always quick to attempt to make connections to Villaraigosa, even with the smallest of strings, just to create a conspiracy theory that can sound even the smallest bit possible. Seeing how Villaraigosa has been about himself for all these years, I can't see how his sister's appointment could have played any influence in his role in the gubernatorial race. Here's why.

Villaraigosa has always been about himself. Even when he would ride the Latino Wagon (well, he would say that he is not, but really would never hesitate to wave the flag when need be), he would claim that the face of all is what matters. Well, that's hard to believe when his entire ego is fed with seeing his name in lights and his face on billboards and magazine covers.

While it brings him pleasure to see his sister receive such acknowledgement for her hard work (which she has all her life), Villaraigosa at the end of the day looks at every decision he faces and says "how can I benefit from it?" Not his sister, or his family, friends, homies from his old "car club" and everybody in between. It all starts and ends with Antonio.

Being Mayor is his dream job, one which he has wanted all his life. But as in any scenario where one reaches their goals, the only thing that they can do once it is accomplished is to set new ones. Now that he is Mayor, I'm sure that he looks to Sacramento as being one of the squares in his game of political hopscotch that will lead him to the White House. And no, he will not run as Hillary's #2, because he will never take that role to anybody since he believes he's a #1.

So his delay in endorsing Angelides and his timely absense on the campaign trail has nothing to do with any benefit that his sister might have enjoyed from being related to him, but rather is about his need to eventually jump to another square until he reaches the last square on the hopscotch floor - the White House.

You're right, it is all about Tony the Liar, it is all about himself, just ask his wife. But you are wrong when you say his sister's appointment has nothing to do with him. Tony has been planning that gubenatorial swearing in ceremony since he first stepped off a plane in Sacramento. That scenario has been replaying in his mind over and over again. And guess who is swearing Tony the Liar in, his sister Mary Lou. And don't get hard work mixed up with throwing temper tantrums, it's not the same thing. But to her credit, Mary Lou, a single mom, has done well for herself after leaving that little Rodriguez brother who used to beat on her. Where was Tony then when his little sister was getting beat on?

Well if AV's dream includes 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, he is delusional. He can hide his radical background in LA -- and maybe CA -- but not in alot of the rest of the country. He would be defined appropriately, at least enough to influence citizen's impression of him.
