Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Monday
Mayor Villaraigosa and his half-a-million dollar Asian junket is now underway. The Mayor arrived in China Sunday where he announced the opening of a new Los Angeles tourism office and received praise from a Chinese official. And don't forget Walter Moore's commentary taking Daily News writer Rick Orlov to task for an uncharacteristic puff piece Orlov wrote about the junket.
Speaking of Walter Moore's piece, Martini Republic picks up on it and the liquor loving blog too calls media to task for depending on so called experts like LA "economist" Jack Kyser or Joe Mailander's favorite local pundit, Sherry Bebitch Jeffee. Interesingly, Journalist Orlov posts a plea to Mailander to get Walter to approve Orlov's post here on the Sister City, though the comment went live shortly after Walter posted his story. Rick, we love ya, but are worried - are you okay?
If you own an RV here in the City of Los Angeles, despite the large amount you pay in vehicle registration fees and extra gasoline taxes, you are no longer allowed to park it on public streets.
Developers of Marlton Square, a long awaited shopping center in the Cresnshaw district, have pulled out of the project after failing to earn needed extensions from the Community Redevelopment Agency.
The County's beleagured "Killer King" King-Drew Medical Center is coming under the management of Harbor-UCLA Hospital and county officials want to give the scaled back facility a new name "Harbor-Martin Luther King Community Hospital." As part of the plan to revitalize the facility and save millions in federal funds, the county wants to make sure the Harbor name is associated with the hospital, signifying the new management. Still, community activists are upset at the removal of the name of legendary African-American physician Charles Drew. A nearby medical college named for Drew will no longer be associated with the hospital.
Around the Blog-LA-Sphere: Here in Van Nuys finds out that LA is probably the capital of check fraud and In The Oaks wonders if a Best Buy store planned for the shopping center at Van Nuys and Moorpark could be moved to the Sherman Oaks Galleria, given the recent bankruptcy of Tower Records which maintains a large store at the G. I doubt it.

Great, finally a post about something outside of downtown or CD 14 and it's negative.
That's why MS will NEVER be a 4th Floor.

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen (removes hat with flourish and winks at Zuma Dogg):
Now that the Mayor is away, I think it's time to start naming scoundrels to walk the plank; someone from Room 410 or 470. Anyone have any objections to starting with these two?
DELEON, ROMERO, PADILLA, CEDILLO AND NUNEZ WALK THE PLANK IN NOVEMBER. The rest walk in March.

Captain Jack Sparrow,
can we test the strength of the PLANK by using COKE SNORTING, PORN LOVING, MIKE HERNANDEZ as the test dummy? Maybe "HIS POLLONESS" can open a Chatsworth office for the Chinese Porn Industry. That way "TINY MIKEY" can get a private sector job.
